Chest is at 63,65. 2nd floor of the house on the right if you're facing the largest building. This is kind of impossible to do solo without dieing at least once at lvl 18. There are 3 casters on the 2nd floor, all lvl 19, that will see through your stealth. I died at the top of the stairs. Res'd by the chest, picked it, got the docs and died on my way out too. There's really no sneaking by those guys if you're lvl 18 or lower. Lockpicking skill of 58. Chest was yellow. Took one try.

I waited until 20 to do this one. I sapped the Dalaran Wizard on the left side of the doorway, then opened the chest without incident.

I had lock picking at level 1 and was still able to open it on the second try. No need to do the Ratchet quest first

im a lv 18 rogue, with 5/5 master of deception and 2/2 dirty tricks.. and solo'd this without dieing once...

stealth in... sap the mob on the left of the door into the top floor bedroom... climb over the tables to keep distance from the other 2 mobs in the room.. get to chest (had lv 1 lock pick at the time) it took 2 attempts.. stealth.. sap the same mob again, and then strole out.. easy =]

Firstly, for those that dont , have co ords addon, when u get to ambermill / dalaran stone entrance, its the building to your right and to the back, up stairs is the chest, 2nd,i was still lv 16 the quest was orange so i got lazy and bought my lv 47 be lock down as she already at uc cleared the area didnt loot, the logged my rogue back as she was parked near by, and just ran in picked the lock , grabbed the parchments and had a chuckle on the way out and headed to uc to hand and get very nice orange exp = D heh

Just did it at level 17. I have 5/5 of Master of Deception but the mages spotted me anyways and i had to sprint to get out safely, didn't die thou. Noticed i had a free skill point so i put it in Dirty Deeds and that was all i needed. I snuck up there and just rushed the mage on the left side hitting sap as soon as i could. Worked like a charm.

Real rogue skill/style. Not unlike you cheating bastards :]

I did this at lvl 20. No points in MoD or Dirty Tricks. Made it to the 2nd floor easily. The mage at the top of the stairs to the right didn't see me, and I spammed sap as I walked up to the mage on the left. Opened the chest, got the report, restealthed, sapped the mage by the door again and calmly walked out.

I did it at level 18. I got caught and killed in the same room as the chest (I aggroed several mages by accident), respawned, picked the lock and just ran away. I didn't have to fight a single mage or protector.

What I ended up doing with my level 18 rogue is stealthed my way all the way in, then the level 18-20 mages saw me just as I hit the chest. I let them kill me there next to the chest, that way I could come back and unlock it without them being in the room. I then hearthed home. Piece of cake.

With my lvl 18 Rogue, I managed to sneak into the main LARGE building before the huge group of mages caught me and slaughtered me. Then when I was a spirit I walked into the ACTUAL building on the right and I was able to res on the stairs. Stealthed, ran pas the mages into the room. Faught, got killed next to the box. Res'd next to it and picked with lvl 80 lock pick. Hearthed out.

just did this, lvl 19 was only one lvl 20 caster on the upper lvl. room with the chest in it was empty, lockpicking skill of 2, took one try, didn't kill anyone on the buildiong, didn't die at all.

I soloed this at level 17. The chest is in the house to the right of the largest building on the second floor. A warlock was patrolling the house's entrance and I only dealt with one level 19 caster at the top of the stairs. Very easy to pass him in stealth, i walked across the table to be safe. The chest was the very first lock I picked. Did this quest entirely in stealth and didn't have to kill anything.

Easy quest as of latest patch, rogue lvl 19 with 2 points in master of deception. Stealthed in past the caster into the room with chest, opened it, stealthed out.

I soloed this quest at lvl 18 and I agree that the chest is at 63,65. There was only one Dalaran Mage at the top of the stairs but I was able to stealth through it and reach the chest. Unlike other posts, there were not 3 casters on the second floor, but there might have been someone who was there before I was.

Easy to solo as a just turned lvl 16...

3/3 imp. eviscarate
2/5 DW specialization.

Don't try stealthin' though they will detect you without any problems. Just take them down one by one...

I did this at 17 with no points in MoD. Stealthed around the corner into Ambermill, ran in, up the stairs and took out the 20 Mage standing there. Easy run over to the box and it popped right open. Hearthed out. YMMV.

Wait till 20 to even attempt it. Get your new stealth spell and just be careful where you go, wait for pats to go by and go behind the cart the blacksmith is at. Run in, get the report, and GTFO ASAP. I had no trouble what so ever.

Don't get fooled by ur QH... My QH showed that i had to kill Dalaran Wizards to get the quest done.
Instead go the the little house to the right of the City Hall (the biggest house inside the walls).
On the second floor there is a chest that u have to lockpick.

it was easier than i thought: just let they kill you inside the house, then respawn near the box :)

	Dalaran Status Report

Description

The wizards of the Kirin Tor at Ambermill have stored away important documents pertaining to the current state of Dalaran. This we know from the admissions of one of our prisoners. Lord Varimathras has placed the duty of recovering them in the hands of the Deathstalkers.

This task falls to you, <name>. You will need some equipment, however, and the knowledge of lockpicking. Speak with Estelle Gendry, our outfitter, and ask her for a set of tools before you set out.
