The Tattered Manuscript is at 43.4,32.6 in Thousand Needles. Enter the cave and turn right, follow the loop and you'll find it.

The Moldy Tome is at 27.6, 72.8 in Hillsbrad Foothills. Near the water at a Murloc camp.

The Murloc Camp I found easiest to do with a Suicide Mission.

1. Let voidwalker grab aggro of all murlocs in camp
2. Quickly grab tome before void is dead
3. Let Murlocs kill you, and res at graveyard in Tarren Mill

better kill 1st murloc in the water and attack the camp from the water.let the voidwalker take all the aggro and take the book from the water. the murllocs will kill you,let them en ressurect in the graveyard

Murloc Camp wasn't that hard. Pulled 2 and then aggro'd 1 in the water. Then pulled the last 2.

Murloc camp: Sent in my VW, picked up the tome, ran away and sacrificed the VW when it had low hp left. Didn't take a single point of damage.

I did things much the same was as Cherub did. I killed the 2 or 3 straggling on the west side of the camp, sent my VW into the camp to take the pounding from the remaining handful of murlocs while I grabbed the tome. I didn't have to sacrifice my VW though. If you have points in Fel Stamina, you should be able to get far enough away from the camp for your VW to despawn and return a shard.

After reading everyones comments I was scared of this quest but to be honest it was easy if you take it slow and clear the stragglers and the few in the water I never pulled more then 3 at a time if done right and you can live thru 3 at 30/31 if you play your cards right plus I got some chests as I made my way down the beach and cleared camps.....also as no one has mentioned it there is a quest in the Inn at Southshore to kill the murlocs you may want to pick that up! it compounds so if you kill enough go back hand it in and come back and look fo rthe tome again....

I seriously hope you guys are joking about having trouble with the Moldy Tome, or aren't affliction. This was so easy I could have done it without my VW. Siphon Life, CoA, Corr, WAND to death. 10-15 seconds a mob. 20 for two because VW takes the second out. Never had to fight more than two at a time, but three would still have been easy. Even ignored Nightfall procs because it was a waste of mana, and would have produced more downtime.

I don't remember if I really killed stuff around the base or not, but I just sent in my void and aggroed 4 at once. Killed all 4, looted the tome, and continued on my way.

Send voidwalker in, grab the book, sacrifice, run.

i'm an affliction Warlock, i sent my VW in dotted up all 6 there were there VW help till about 300 health i sacrificed him and used drain life to finish them off. no worries.

1) The Tattered Manuscript: Is in the Splithoof Crag to the south of The Great Lift to/from The Barrens - on the same canyon wall as the Lift. Once inside the cave go right, across the stream and slightly up a path.

2) The Moldy Tome: Is laying on the ground by the water's edge (it looks like a book) of the 4th or 5th Murloc hut grouping.

30 Affliction warlock on PvP server, used Void and pulled individually. They're actually pushovers, and I ended up pulling the rest all at once to finish faster.

Of the two, the Tattered Manuscript would be harder to obtain because it's easy to miss, but the screenshot I submitted should show the location clearly if you followed the "loop" as hampst0r said.

I solo'd it this very instant. Succubus is really great for this. Igot the tome as one was seduced.

This isn't so bad...the only part that's tough is staying awake through all the long walks to get to the ends of Azeroth and back only to return again.

The quest is stated to be Shareable, but it's not.

What's the chance that you're doing it with another warlock anyway, unless you do it along with a friend who happens to be a lock aswell.

Also I find the quest ridiculusly easy, just keep your Void up tanking and try to locate the Tome, then single pull the Murlocs one after the other (though sometimes 2 might come). I was lucky and had a Named mob aswell :) free greenie :P

Anyway, considering the new 2.3 changes, it doesn't hurt to do alittle killing, especially since these quests invole alot of running around.

iff you sit up on the cliff and just hover you cursor over the hut then you will find it easer than attacking everything on the coast

Confirmed that the Moldy Tome is a sparkling book on the shore, right by the water line in hillsbrad. at 26. 72.

When mouseover is says "Tome of cabal".

I used the Eye of Kilrogg to double check before going in, set my VW in and used Torment to draw in the three murlocks hanging around the book... then ran away clinging to the cliffs and never aggro'd any other camps. Set my VW on passive and he followed me out until the murlocks gave up and I never had to sacrifice him at all, he eventually out ran them by following me.

Now, for the Tattered Manuscript... the entrance to the cave keeping the Tattered Manuscript is at 43,37 in Thousand Needles, but the "Damaged Chest" containing the manuscript is actually at 43, 32.

I have submitted a screenshot of the Damaged Chest, pending approval, to show you from the map in the upper right just where it is and what the box looks like.

I just completed this quest today, turned in the two tomes and only received 600xp. Opening a ticket to see if this should be the case...but it seemed rather low considering the number of murlocs I had to kill -_-

I actually had alot of trouble finding the battered chest inside the cave despite your instructions. I followed the stream deep inside the cave and spent ages wandering round getting frustrated. So just a tip when you enter the cave stick to the cave wall to your right because the veers right in the direction you want. For you miners theirs a Mithril deposit, head for that and across the stream there's an iron deposit. The chest is right near the iron.

P.S. in the end i know how easy it was to find in the end but 1 wrong turn messed me up.

When in Southshore - among the field of quests that you find I recommend picking up this one that has to do with killing the murlocs you'll find on your way to the pages. Even if you don't follow the rest of that chain this is a good value added quest to what is otherwise just a nice day at the beach (I was lvl 31 and glad I brought a hunter friend)

This is how you do this quest in this order:

Southshore- (27,72)along the coast. The book is past the hut right next to the water. Its green and you almost miss it. Kill these things however you want- IMO, best with a VW. Get the book. And yes, murlocks suck- always running around attracting more idiots by the car full.

Thousand Needles- (44,36) Best way I think is to go to Ratchet- run out of town then hang a left- get your running shoes out because this is a looong run. (I didnt go to Theramore and run through the swamp because mobs are 35 in there and higher- why die when I can just run a lot). If you don't have the flight pt to Rachet, you have to go through Theramore. Go all the way down the road- you'll get to a elevator- kill a guard, take it down, go to 44,36. The half-man-horse things are level 27 (they're green) and go down quickly. When you enter the cave, hang a right, keep going, once you pass a small stream, the chest is to your left. Pick up, hearth out, go to IF.

Ironforge (74,9) - you turn it in and he gives you another quest. I better be Zues after I get this damn felhunter thing- this sure beats the snot out of what I had to do to get the Succubus.

Wetlands - Dragonmal camp or something. Go to (48,44)- its a quick back way entrance to kill the guys you're suppose to kill - they are the big guys with the skeleton pets- very easy (they are 27). Don't use the entrance at (42, 43) unless you want to battle the entire army of Mordor. Fast drop rate- I killed 5 guys and got my 3. Now back to Ratchet.

Rachet (62,35) yellow dot on your screen. You turn it in and he walks to the room behind him and says some garbage and the 3 people do a little summoning thing- dont read the book till you see the green writing on the floor because that will instantly end the quest and you wont get the felhunter. just kidding. it just wont work until the green writing appears. anyway, once the green writing appears, read the book and then the fel appears, and like anything you want as a warlock, you have to kill it. so have your VW out before you read it. easy kill. the guy walks over and then a question mark appears over his head. quest is done, you now have the felhunter and a 16 slot soul bag. sweet! rock on!

Description

It was lost, but there's some idea as to where it might be found.

There was only one copy ever made and it was vandalized at some point, a large portion of it ripped from the binding. Rumor has it that it somehow passed into the hands of the centaur of Thousand Needles.

The rest was lost off the coast west of Southshore, where it was to be transported to Menethil Harbor by boat. It never arrived.

In exchange for this knowledge, all I ask is that if you find it, bring it to me to see.
