Could still not solo this as feral druid even at lvl 35. The difficulty of this quest is seriously unbalanced.

Soloed with lvl32 priest.
MC Gath'Ilzogg and attack the dragonkin. Try to kill it.
Break MC before Gath dies (so you can loot the quest item!), fear the adds and kill him. Profit.

I tend to find on my server (Amun Thul) that this quest can be very popular.

If you log on during a busy period then don't be surprised if you walk in to Gath's lair to find him and his party already dead, forcing you to wait for a respawn. If others are also waiting for a respawn then either agree with other's in the queue on who goes first or tag Gath quickly for your party when he respawns.

Soloable as a level 29 assasination/combat (11/9/0) rogue.

I did it this way myself:
Sneak all the way to the boss room and kill the normal mobs in the corner of that room. Then proceed to the pack at the small wooden area.

Sap Gath'Ilzogg and kill the 2 normal adds as fast as possible, it's easier if you make the dragon your focus target and kick its Flamestrikes, they deal a nice bit of damage. When you get the normal adds down kill the little dragon, he goes down fast as long as you keep interrupting its spells with kick and gouge. After you've finished with him vanish and wait for cooldowns (if you had to use a potion or similiar items), the adds take a while to spawn so you're not in a hurry. When ready just engage Gath'llzogg himself, preferrably start with a cheap shot, build up combo points. Use expose armor after 4-5 combo points and your damage against the boss should increase greatly. Then just spank him like he was a normal monster, gouge + bandage if needed. He should go down pretty fast this way.

This is the one where, if you can't find anyone to go with on this quest... @ about level 23, maybe even 21 as a rogue, I sat down and logged out in the field of where Gath was founded at, had my main kill everything BUT Gath, log out, and solo him myself with my rogue.

I solo'd with lvl 30 Hunter. Clearing the path up top was the easy part. When I got into the Gath I sent my pet in to pull full aggro. He died, but we got Gath down to half health, so both Gath and his Dragonkin came at me. I killed Gath, Dragonkin killed me, I came back, ressed me and my pet, Sent pet in for Dragonkin while I looted Gath, then we finished off the Dragon.

Solod this as a 24 Warlock, just fear the guy and kill the mobs next to him.
Make sure you have a healtstone, and a soulstone couldn't hearth either.

If you fear the guy, be carefull that he don't run out of the "door". I feared him out of there, he ran after 2 other mobs.

Good help is so hard to come by. Just tried to solo this one as a lvl 27 rogue. Even with the help of my 60 main warrior clearing the field, I could not lower the target's hitpoints low enough. I got my butt handed to me, so I suggest not doing this one alone, at least not until you are about at least 29.

That orc was a @$$ to kill but still got it done. A hunter and a preist or pally is great, but thats just my opion.

Solo'd it as a 26 night elf subtlety rogue. Cleared the non elite adds one at a time with shadowmeld and vanish.

When it's just Gath and his pet, sap him and dps down the pet. By himself he's pretty easy, just blow cooldowns (evasion/dismantle). I had lifeblood rank 2 from herbalism, which helped.

Soloed this as a Heirloom-twinked (shoulders +30sta, staff +30sp, trinket) 27th Shadow Priest. Started with a Shield on (waited some time to let the weakened soul almost wear off), focused all fire (all dots and nukes) on the dragon, kept Renew on, shielded again after the first shield faded. Cast Psyhic Scream after that one weared off too. After dragon dies, it becomes MUCH easier, he's like 2/3 of the total damage of these two. Then just healed and killed Gath'Ilzogg.
Beware, orc kicks/pummels/whatever.

Just done as a lvl 26 hunter.
Few tips to help, bring a bear! kill the whelp first, mend pet alot, place a Freezing Trap at the stairs just in case your pet dies that way Gath will come for you get frozen leaving you time to revive pet. Apart from that keep serpent sting up and spam arcane shot when possible.

Took me 2 deaths to solo him, in #$%^ty greens, first time i targeted gath first but the whelps abilities took care of the pet to fast. Second time i killed the whelp first but forgot to mend pet so he ended up dying, however gath went straight into my freezing trap but as i was trying to revive pet silly ol me forgot to stop targeting gath and auto shoot unfroze him. lol

This really is a GROUP quest! Tried to solo it as a level 26 aff warlock, succesfully killed all the adds so only had gath'ilzogg and the dragon left but got completely poned. I tried twice, the second time worked better as I sent my VW on the attack so he got all the aggro but we just didn't have enough hp between us and couldn't do enough damage. Then after i rezzed again i was just in the safe spot having a drink and some really high level character rushed in and killed them both in about 2 hits, very frustrating! I gave up after that.

Also, to get to him you go up a couple flights of stairs, then a wooden ramp on your left hand side. The first time I went in I went to the right and ended up on the roof ;)

Soloed as a 23 lvl Paladin. With one death - compliment to my "Oh, I have the lay hands ability? I forgot!". Got the dragon first, died, respawned and killed Gath'Ilzog on the second time. The whole garrison of the castle went down in some 10-15 minutes.

Tips for a Paladin (Primarily Retribution spec'd):
Keep Consecration up, & use Hammer of Justice on the dragon whenever it's up.
Burn down the dragon until it dies, by that time Gath should already be at half health. Finish him off.
Heal when necessary.

Recommended buffs are anything that will put out the most damage. (Retribution Aura, Blessing of Might, Seal of Command *for Ret Paladins*, Seal of Righteousness for other specs.)
The main idea is to put all your efforts into putting out damage, rather than defense.

Soloed as a 27 Paladin. Used Gift of the Naaru (Draenei racial) before entering combat, & Lay on Hands during.

Soloed as lvl 26 Druid.
Here's what I did, I'm sure there are alternate ways to do it.
Stealth in and nuke down the dragonwhelp then shift to bearform, use enrage and then bash to stun him. Get some distance, shift to human, cast entangling roots. Heal yourself.
Shift back to cat and finish off Gath.

Description

Wanted! Gath'Ilzogg, Leader of the Blackrock attacks on Stonewatch Keep and raids against the township of Lakeshire.

Gath'Ilzogg is extremely dangerous. He is reportedly holed up in the recently conquered keep plotting the Blackrock clan's further crimes against humanity. The orc infestation must be quelled at all costs. A gracious reward will be given to whatever brave soul can deliver the head of Gath'Ilzogg to Magistrate Solomon.
