Covered in level 39 crocolisks. Bit of a pain if you solo this quest early.

Just as an FYI ~ clearing all the mobs you think are in the way isn't good enough ~ after thinking I cleared the mobs I died a sad sad death ~ not realizing I couldn't heal the little jerk.
Now since I had the mobs KILL ME I know where to clear them from. Wish me luck!

edit - this is literally 20 seconds later . . do NOT rez where you died ~ it takes less than 10 seconds for them to wipe out a lvl 41 druid LOL

edit - ok done finally ~ just kept dying and each time I'd killed more so not many to get rid of ~ DRUIDS use BEAR form or DIRE BEAR ~ escorting aggros (after the initial 6 or 7) about 5 mobs along the way.

TIP: Whilst doing this quest, clear the 4-5 Warlock mobs, the 3-4 HUGE mobs(forget their names) and around 5-6 crocs and hunters down the river, and DO NOT LOOT them. Doing this will cause a much longer respawn time, just loot as you run by, completed this quest first time on a 40 hunter.

I got fucking raped with a 41 lock... he is behaving like i dont know what... he pulled a hunter, while i where killing it, he pulled another and another and another, they stand to close, every time he runs up to something... I dont recomend this quest

as everyone said, at the beginning galen pass right in the middle of the area, I suggest you to clear the area first, then do the quest staying in front of galen and pulling back a mob if galen is going near (in fact quite far) of him because he is used to run forward when a mob attacks him aggroing another 3-4 in the path ^^'

I thought I had cleared the area, but as soon as a caster attacked him he stopped hitting the mob he was on and ran at it, thus pulling many many more mobs.

Not doing this again...lol.

Just to clarify ... perhaps this is a change in recent patches, but this guy IS healable. I was able to apply Power Word Fortitude and keep him healed. I also noticed after he ran right into the middle of a camp, pulling 9 mobs at once and wiping quick, that on the second run of this quest a few mins later he chose to go a different route, completely skirting the main part of the camps and going along the river instead. The most I had to fend off of him that time was a croc and a One mob at once, and that was it. The first time sucked, but the second time it was cake because he took a different path. And he IS healable, at least as of today's date. Not sure when that change happened, but don't let the other comments that he isn't scare you any further ;)

Another duff Blizzard quest - supposedly a level 38 quest. The NPC runs into the middle of multiple mobs most annoying of which are casters whom soon take him down. TBH most blizzrd quests are well balanced but this is one of those that needs dealing with its difficult to do solo for a non healing class, even if you clear all mobs they respawn by time the npc has walked back through. People here commenting after doing it at a level where the quest is grey anyway should really not bother comments and advice here should be from people doing the quest under proper conditions for leveling.

This is one of the more ridiculous quests in the game as far as I'm concerned. Most escort quests are annoying, but this one takes the cake.

The moment Galen is out of the cage he walks straight into the center of camp, aggroing everything in the area. You'll be lucky to live for another few seconds, then you'll get to run back to your body, only to find that rezzing will kill you again in even less time.

If you want to stand any chance at all, you can clear the entire area. My vote is to just leave him in the cage, he's too dumb to bother saving.

I just did this quest, and the guy took a nice path outside of the camp, walking along the river instead. Very easy.

I did this quest at 70, not realizing how completely suicidal this guy is. Needless to say, he aggroed the entire camp and died in about 10 seconds.

I can't tell you how stupid I felt failing a level 38 quest at 70.

Say, you need to escape a camp so what do you do? You ask a stranger for help. The stranger walks along and figures...heh why not. So right after getting the help, what do you do?

GALEN WALKS ALMOST RIGHT THROUGH THE FRAKKIN MIDDLE OF THE CAMP. IDIOT. IDIOT. IDIOT. Have you heard of maybe WALKING AROUND THE CAMP YOU FOOL?

Like many others, Galen pulled 5 on me. This was right after we had just took out 2 so I was totally out of mana. It was looking like a trip to the graveyard for me. It turned into a trip to the graveyard for idiot Galen. I blinked out of there then used my mana shield to run away.

Next attempt, I cleared out the monsters and tried to save him. Fool still walks right through camp, but I manage to keep it sufficiently clear for his escape.

What an idiot.

Easy quest for a paladin though. Just up your aggro with righteous fury, and remember to heal the punk when he gets low (IF, truly every mob should be attacking you most of the time with fury up).

I only ever dropped one quest on the way up to endgame with my first character... And this was it. Just leveling my second, and thought "it can't have been as bad as I remember, can it?". He wiped me twice before I dropped it, and the surrounding quests, and actually got back to having fun with the game!

If you absolutely must do this quest, do it with Ongeku, Draenethyst Crystals and Little Morsels... But, seriously, don't bother!

The problem is, most of the mobs in the camp are ranged, so they stay put... Which means that Galen runs to them... Which then pulls extra mobs, as the mobs in the camp are packed *so* tightly... To top it all off, the warlocks here have imps, which need to be spotted and killed off quickly (low HP, high DPS), and you often don't notice an imp has been pulled 'til you get hit by an extra shadowbolt / firebolt combo... /Sigh

These quests will be green before they are doable, just... Don't bother! If you're struggling to find quests, go to the zones page, go down the list of zones, and choose one to go to that is your level and you haven't been to yet.

Seriously, this is the worst quest in the entire game!

..THIS GUY IS A MORON.

He's captured by the Lost Ones so his escape plan.. is to walk right through the middle of their camp? Buffoon. This guy makes me realize why so many people hate the Alliance. On my trip through I was level 40 (Hunter), a good two to three levels over the mobs there. Doesn't make a whole lot of difference, however, when he decides to aggro every mob in the area and the mob my pet is attacking starts to flee as soon as it's taking damage, aggroing more.

Thankfully there were passers-by that helped me clean up the mess. Galen ended up dead anyway, but he has a thankfully short respawn time.

I've done some lame escort quests, but this one really takes the cake. Idiot walks THROUGH the swamp when he is mere feet from the damn road.

Im suprised at how many people are shocked with the stupidity of this guy... if he understood the concepts of running instead of walking and NOT going towards the giant packs of not-so-friendly-looking creatures, well then he wouldn't be in the cage would he?

Turns out, about 3-4 minutes after you safely get him out, he ends up back in the cage anyways. Smart guy.

also...quests like these i recommend skipping at an early lvl and coming back to do them at a much higher lvl for faction rep....A: you get around ALOT faster....and B: you dont die lol :)

I believe this quest is no longer available in game. I waited at his cage for quite a while without him spawning.

They should have left him in the cage whilst removing the escort quest though, in my opinion..

This quest was marked obsolete by Blizzard and cannot be obtained or completed.

Escort Galen out of danger, then find his camp in the Swamp of Sorrows and open his strongbox.

Description

Please help! These creatures are going to eat me!

Help me out of here, and I'll give you a great treasure! It's in my camp in the swamp north of Stonard, but it's locked in a strongbox that can be opened through a trick that only I know.

If you help me escape, then I'll teach it to you.
