You will need a tank and healer for this (someone will likely post about how awesome they are and how they can solo this guy - but 99% of us need a tank and healer for this fight).

We did it with 4 - but if your tank has some good dps you can likely do it with 3.

Quite an interesting dilemma we found ourselves in when we didn't read the text associated with each item and stuff kept disappearing from our inventory.

Each of the 4 quest items last 2 minutes and then disappear out of your inventory. You should clear for the items and but NOT pick them up - once clear, get all 4 and use them at the center back of the room. after using them it will create a new item in your inventory which you will use again and that will summon the boss.

You do not need to clear around on the sides for the boss- he'll basically stay in the middle.

However - he does fear, so if you have tremor totems or fear wards you should put them down (if you don't - some clearing may be in order- but probably not).

Other than that, mostly a tank and spank.

A little more about this guy...

He has 260k health and hits like a truck. 4k non-crits on mail. I pulled out my dogs, drank a health pot, used instant cast Healing Waves, and popped Heroism (enhance shammy) and still didn't last very long.

So yeah, not soloable. Recommended plate-wearer to tank and dedicated healer + 1 dps should be fine to 3-man it.

He loves to cast his Mind Flay on healers, too. Have paladins or priests stack shadow resistance, and that should help against all his spells.

I was walking down the street,
When out the corner of my eye
I saw a pretty little thing approaching me.
She said "I've never seen a man

Could you use a little company?

He stuffed his bank account with righteous dollar bills.
But even still I can't say much
Because I know we're all the same,
oh yes we all seek out to satisfy those thrills

I did this quest "no rest for the wicked" with just me as a death knight player.
But also had spell "army of the dead" to help me.

Also was good to read comment about killing all around those chests & then opening the chests.

Just soloed him on my shadow priest. He must have been nerfed at some point because he was quite easy to take down. HP is only 107k. Just make sure you clear part of the room first.

The quest items are found in Icecrown, at Aldur'thar: The Desolation Gate: 51.9, 33.2 is the entrance to the room.

Facing the giant crystal in the back of the room, the sceptre, robes, and heart are in clickable chests on the eastern part of the room, scattered around where the mobs are. The skull is on the west side of the room, in another clickable chest.

The quest items now no longer disappear from your bags if you take your time (despite the item description). So you do not have to worry if you found one items but not the rest.

Once you gather all 4 quest items, right click on them in your bag to use them and combine them into the Remains.

Go stand in front of the giant crystal in the back of the room. Use the Remains to channel a short animation. That will bring out the elite quest mob that you have to kill to get credit for this quest.

With the changes in 7.3.5 from # of quests required to completing storylines if you finish this quest line and do not receive the "Aldur'thar: The Desolation Gate" Chapter completed, do the daily quest "No Rest For The Wicked" provided from Thassarian and it should award the achievement, baring they dont fix or break this again after i post this.

Thassarian, aboard the Skybreaker, wants you to defeat Alumeth the Ascended at Aldur'thar.

Description

It's Alumeth... He's growing in power again. I can sense it. Again his underlings are channeling power to his soul.

If he's allowed to rest, their efforts will soon transform him into a mighty adversary.

Return to his chamber in the north portion of Aldur'thar. Combine his heart, skull, scepter and robes, then use his remains on the crystal there.

Hurry, <race>! Destroy him before he becomes any more powerful!
