He has over 100k HP and seems to be immune to snares and CC, or at least he was immune to Curse of Exhaustion and Fear. Hits for 1.5k-2.5k on cloth. He also hit my voidwalker with 16k armor too hard for me to keep him alive. After 2 tries I found that he is decidedly not soloable by a level 77 warlock!

I am a little disappointed because I watched a level 75 blood elf hunter easily solo him with his worm pet tanking right before me. But maybe hunters are broken and overpowered in this build and I just don't know about it.

a feral druid would back flip for this ... the chest and the staff are really incredible ...

Soloable by 77 blood DK as of build 8905 (the big DK nerf). Key talents are might of mograine and vicious strikes for fat death strike crits. As well as epidemic to fit in more death strikes. I took gargoyle and blood caked blade over dancing rune weapon. I was able to keep the gargoyle up the full minute. Way better than DRW.

I wore a full set of stam gear and fell just short of 15k health. I have the +5% dodge and blade barrier talent too. About 10% dodge, 9% to parry (10 more from keeping blade barrier up). 40% reduction in armor in unholy presence.

Strategy:
Use unholy presence. So you can death strike faster.

Summon your ghoul. Give him hysteria right off the start.

Get 20 RP ASAP and use ice bound fortitude. Use your other cooldowns like vampiric blood and rune tap at the start as well. You want to start cooling so if you manage to live past 30s-1 minute you can use them again. The rest of the fight is efficiently death striking as much as possible to keep your health up as well as rune tapping when needed. And with a bit of crit luck you can keep yourself healed. Again, good stam gear to provide yourself a good buffer.

I died like 7 times, but I finally got him! Take that you stupid seal!

Just did it as prot at 74 aswell, but with only quest/instance loot. Sure could have used a bigger mana pool though, seeing how Seal of Wisdom scales with it.

Ended up using a mana potion, and even blowing Lay on Hands in order to conserve mana. Also, this guy Enrage at low health, wich would have been nice knowing this before I used Divine Shield to avoid pushback around 70% or something. Managed to down him on my first try though, so well worth the mana potion and LoH cooldown.

well actually all 4 are rare (modified later) and all 4 can be considered tanking weapons ... since feral druids have same equipment for tanking (bear) and melee DPS (cat) ... only the haste and crit is not for tank ... but helps anyway

i'm just happy to see some love for feral druids :D

and also i would like to say that these are not tanking only stats ... if they had block value or rating they would be ... but these stats are also good for solo rogue/warrior ... good survivability ...

The weapons are all very nice and allow for itemization holes for tanks.

Ferals have a melee dps/tanking hybrid weapon with plenty of stam and agility to keep them happy.

Defense weapons in case you need to keep that up.
Expertise as an option in case you are lacking there. Dodge if not.
And a pure avoidance weapon that lacks defense.
Almost every base covered.

The only thing missing is a 2-hander for DKs to use. Unfortunate, because DW tanking is not considered a good idea. Parry gibs are not a good thing.

I'd do this quest as soon as you are able. Only a few weapons beat the ones here for tanking.

Soloed easily as a 74 prot paladin. Just don't run yourself OOM via consecrate and make smart use of your cooldowns.

Okay as a Warrior I see three nice tanking weapons for a quest I can pick up at level 74. The problem is at level 74 I don't completely know what my final set of gear will be and which holes i need to plug.

Additionally anyone not a tank will be like "wtf tanking weapons?" It would have been much smarter to make each of these the reward for a different quest.

Additionally, anyone who is a tank, and from level 70-74 got all of 3 (tanking related)! quest rewards.. out of several hundred... that was actually any use to them.. Then here finally is a decent quest with decent rewards!

Was able to solo this as a level 76 Prot warrior. Used Shield Block alot as well as some BC tanking trinkets. Rewards were definintly worth it!

Soloed as just dinged L80 retri paladin in badge (old badges), MH/BT gear. Had to use bubble, LoH and health potion. Ended on 400 hp so it was pretty close. You can stun him.

Solo'd quite easily as a 75 prot paladin. I was judging light and using SoW for the first half till I noticed my mana was fine. I switched over to SoL and had to use Divine plea twice, but it was all gravy. Use divine protection or divine shield early and forbearance will be off before you kill him to use the other. Didn't even need LoH. Now I have a really sweet mace :)

Indeed ha has ton of HP, about 106k. You'd be better off with bringing a second person just in case but for some classes he is soloable.

How do I start this quest (Alliance side)? I'm level 74 and I've done the other wanted quests in the Wintergarde Inn, but I don't see this one available. Or is the starting location for the Alliance mislabled on here? What gives? :(

Is this quest available to Horde? Many "Both" type quests on Wowhead seem to be ally only now but I really like the weapons on offer for this so just confirming if there is a horde equivalent.

Soloed as a 75 Siphon Life/Felguard specced warlock, tanked with my Voidwalker.

Incredibly easy, just send the VW in, keep Corruption, Siphon Life and Curse of Agony up and Health Funnel. He hits the VW for about 700-1k damage, with an occasional crit.

Be careful of the aggro since your blueberries threat is worthless unless you have Demonic Empowerment (which I didn't).

You're a moron who doesn't know anything about DK tanking if you think the best way is to 2H tank. Frost tanking (the DK tanking spec) is duel wield. Unholy & blood dps is 2H weapons. Learn something about a class if you're going to give advice.

Soloed as a 74 Enhancement Shaman, BT/badge geared.

Pop HS, WF, SoE and FT totems, pull with a LB, once hes in melee, send in the wolves, but don't have them taunt, they are much more useful as a heal for you. at 30% he enrages, so that's a good time to blow SR, and burn his butt down.

You will have to use 2-3 MW-HW near then end, since the fight lasts just over 45sec, but you can do eet =D

Wow. Before being such a smart-$%^ you should maybe read the current theorycrafting related to DK tanking.

The start location for this quest is invalid for Alliance. This quest starts in Zul'Drak: Light's Breach coordinates are 32.2, 75.6. The quest is still picked up from a poster however.

Easily soloable as a protection paladin. Just use Seal and Judgment of Light, don't waste mana on expensive spells, just stick with holy shield, blessing of sanctuary, hammer of the righteous and maybe flash of light. Use Divine Plea whenever you can, bubble+bandage if needed. Use Divine Protection after he enrages. And don't forget to use lay on hands if necessary. Good luck!

Personally, i didn't have to use bubble, divine protection, or LoH... Just used one rejuvenation pot. I was lvl 74.

rate this back up. i was doing quest after quest in stupid wintergarde keep just cuz it lead on that this starts off the wanted poster there. This starts in Zul'Drak: Light's Breach available at lvl 74 so save yourself some time

Tried to solo as a lvl 76 Frost DK got him to 15%. After that I invited another DK to kill it with me and during that i noticed I was using unholy presence on my solo try so i guess it could have helped enough to kill it.

He swims around in the middle of the small lake SSE of Light's Breach. /tar ragemane if you don't see him.

Piece of Cake as Tankadin @ lvl 75. BoSanc, RF, seal of choice, judgement of choice (personally used SoL and JoW). Keep Holy Shield up, and just use HotR, SoR, and Judgement. Didn't have to heal, bubble, etc. Didn't OoM.

If you have to heal, you can bubble-heal, LoH (recommended esp for the Mana), or even just take a hit or two while healing. Regular hits don't hit hard (200ish, iirc), but he has a special attack or two that hit for around 1k (or he might have gotten through with a crit, can't remember. My Defense skill is slacking with this lack of tanking upgrades...)

All in all, don't bother trying to find a group- You'll spend more time looking than it takes to find him, solo him, and turn in the quest.

EDIT: Used Divine Plea shortly after starting and again when it came off CD.

I can't imagine not being able to solo this as a full s3/s4 retadin, level 76, will give it a shot tonight. Cranking out over 1k dps, using instant FoLs, bubble and LoH as options, shouldn't be an issue.

Easily soloable as a prot pally. Took on both Ragemane and a real pest of a Death Knight and trounced them both. Ragemane hits pretty soft, so warrior/pally tanks take very little damage blocking his hits. He does nothing noteworthy, so its a straightforward fight.

Finally some good tanking weapons. Good thing pallies can actually use real tank weapons now. For leveling tanks, id recommend the mace. Highest dps, more str, plus it has both defense and dodge. Keeping def. capped is a bit of a hassle while leveling, the dodge on top of that helps, and the expertise on the axe really isnt all that important for leveling, so the mace is the best choice for pally/warrior tanks imo.

i really find it amusing that ppl are still going off what who said from what forum for dk tanking i did both dw and 2h and if you want to keep that aggro you cant beat swing cycles as opposed to the gap you get in swings from a 2h while aoes are on cd think about it. let us not forget either the fact that orcs have boosted expertise with axes. so with boosted haste from any said northrend gear if that is a concern and the added expertise i would definitely refer dk tanks full frost to dw with axe if orc otherwise go 2h.

Solo'd as a lvl 75 prot pally. He does "berserk" when his health reaches a certain level. I didn't have to bubble once, but I did have to use one Holy Light. Be careful after you kill him though; he respawns almost instantly.

As an 77 Unholy DK i did manage to solo Ragemane but with a Runic Health Potion.

The key is to keep your health as high as possible because when the enrage comes Ragemane is putting out some hurt on you. After that it's a race who dies first: Keep up the diseases & death strike when you can, i even used my gargoyle with my ghoul for added DPS.

Drink a potion when you need it, make sure your mitigation skills are ready to be used when it enrages (Ibf / boneshield, you will need them). Even though Ragemane looks badass (which it is) dont panic and mess up your rotation.

Solo'ed as blood deathknight 75, but took me 3 tries, cooldowns, health pot, a ghoul on hysteria and finished him after death while on ghoul form.

Not a walk on the park, maybe easier with blade barrier and antecipation.

Soloed as a 74 Unholy DK with blade barrier - without it I doubt I would have done it, even with it I kept dying when enraged

On my successful one, walked in with bone shield, kept up diseases while spamming death strike on literally every cooldown. When he enraged at 20%, popped Gargoyle and 2nd bone shield, and when that shield ran out, icebound fortitude... and hope you survive.

Stats when successful: 15.6k armor, 403 defense, 12% dodge, 10.63% parry, 118 dps weapon

Soloable as a lvl 75 demolock. CoW, immo, and corruption on with VW tank, popping DE whenever it's up. Used lifebloom and drain life when my VW was topped off to keep the my hp up from the health funnel/lifetap. Easy.

Tanks thinking ahead to level 80 and wanting to be "heroic/Naxx - ready" should consider whether they will need the defense available from the Axe or Mace before taking the sword.

If you're doing this quest and you don't yet have an EQ plan in place, you might want to reconsider doing that before turning this quest in.

As it presently stands, the axe or mace are two of the best pre-heroic/Naxx tanking weapons along with the http://www.wowhead.com/?item=36984 from HoL.

soloable as a 75 fg/sl lock as well, using the felguard over the vw. CoW, siphon life, corruption and health funnel. never drew aggro, never any danger to the felguard, not even during his enrage phase (25%-ish?).
As per most of these (and as written plenty before), he repops pretty fast, so get safe before you write here, as he killed me during this comment :p

Tried soloing this guy as a lvl 78 shadow priest in all T6 (Sunwell/BT/Hyjal) gear. Couldnt do it despite having a nearly ideal spec (3/3 improved inner fire and 2/2 improved VE most notably). Would die to the enrage when he had about 5% hp left. I came back at lvl 79 and was able to do it by the skin of my teeth.

The enrage at the end really trains a clothy, especially one with lvl 70 gear.

32.55 is where the "Servant of Drakuru" are, when you transform them using "Scepter of Empowerment", they only follow you to about 32.56 then disappear.

its soloable (however i did it at 80 lvl with talents in VW as Affliction lock)... just let ur VW tank and health funnel him... curse the mob and enjoy ;)

Solo'd as a 75 prot pally. Did it in tanking gear, tho, 16,000+hp and 19,200+armor with devotion up. He has a ton of health but doesn't hit particularly hard. I didn't need to bubble just used holy light and LoH (used it torwards the end of the fight for mana regen, not health). Just use your normal tank rotation and pop divine plea whenever its up (this can be a long fight).

Was able to solo this one, as a lvl 77 Blood DK in Tanking Gear and Frost Presence.

Keep both diseases up, and DS as often as possible, because this guy hits like a truck, even with Tanking Gear on (But i have to admit, that my "tanking gear" sucked when i did this quest :-) )
Dancing Rune Weapon when your Runic Power reaches 100%.

Save Vampire Blood & Mark of Blood until he reaches 25%, use icebound fortitude when he enrages at 10 -15%...and kill him, before he smashes you.

Was able to complete the quest with 45% Health left.

Edit:
Concerning loot issues, if you are a Deathknight and if you are into dual wield tanking, choose http://www.wowhead.com/?item=44735 from the rewards for this quest, as weapon speed is of no concern for you, since all DK Attacks (except Rune Strike) are instant, and the slower your Main Hand Weapon is, the stronger are your "Percent of Weapon dmg" - Abilities.

Soloed this as Prot in decent gear @75 with decent gear (northrend and crafted BS blues, enchanted gemmed aso.).

The fight was truly dissapointing. I expected a much tougher fight. Though it lasted long (he's got a lot of health), he hits like a girl. Started out with SoL, but i was constantly at max health, swapped to SoW, and still not loosing much health. At full mana i decided to use SoMartyr for the fun of it... spent one mana pot just to be able to finish him off with SoM.

Maybe he bugged on me or something. Used Imp Devo aura for the extra armor and heals (it helps).

~17.5k health, ~20k armor and ~700 BV, def capped I guess.

Bring a dps just to shorten the fight.

Soloed him as a unholy dk level 75, i was expecting to die but while i was in the fight he was very easy. Just used my regular gear (quest gear) mark of blood when u are on low hp healthpot is good to have also, i was also forced to use death pact. So just be in Frost Presence and heal yourself as soon as u can and it will be no problemo, i had about 7k hp left when he died

I was able to solo him with my 77 Prot Pally last night. The battle took what seemed like forever. I had to use http://www.wowhead.com/?spell=48788 and http://www.wowhead.com/?spell=642, I couldn't stun him with http://www.wowhead.com/?spell=10308, which made it harder, since I couldn't pop a heal. But I took him down. Felt great! I love the mace. Put me up to 530 defense.

about to try him as a poorly geared protadin at level 80:

19,5k health
522 defense
20k armor
89,9% avoidance
545 spell power

nailed him, used my trinkets, kept up sacred shield and used seal of wisdom + judgment of life, used a mana pot though.

just soloed this as a level 77 unholy death knight

used my gargoyle pretty early. apart from that i ONLY kept diseases up and spammed death strike. (and blood strike ofc)

i equipped 3 tanking items i've picked up during quests in grizzly hills. apart from that i only used "normal" dps items (all q rewards)

used frost presence, bone shield too ect.

pretty simple fight. he doesnt have any special abilities

be ready to sacrifice the pet for 40% health pot. if you're unlucky and dont get a few crits with death strike here and there, it can be needed

With the 3.0.8 hp and damage buff to warlock's pets, this was easily solo-able.

I did it at level 74 with a felguard (which has 10k hp). Just occasionally throw some dot's on Ragemane and keep funneling your pet. Fel armor's passive hp-regain and Siphon Life (if specced for it ofcourse) will easily keep you up and life tapping so your pet doesn't run out of mana.
Perhaps a voidwalker would have been the better choice for tanking alone, but the dps the felguard brings really helped me out.

Solo as lvl 80 blood dps DK. Popped army of dead, never gained aggro, got him down to 50,000 popped rune weapon finished him off easy, didn't get hit once.

soloed him on my 74 druid ;) i have 2x t4, 2x t5(this bonus helps alot, i admit) and some random epics from tbc.
he cant be stunned so i went in bearform and just made sure i have demo roar up.
hitted me for about 650 instead of 850. since u heal quit alot from improved LotP its no biggy.
i used barkskin when i was on 50% hp, and healed myself up with some hots, and gave it a go again... got him down after about 4-5 mins ;)

this staff is the best upgrade feral druids can get and its about the only questreward out there.
also in lower lvl dungeons is nothing for us. neither do the quartermasters have anything.
almost all the 2h are axes, swords or polearms.

if ur feral, do this quest to get this staff ;) next stop is a lvl 80 dungeon ;)

Very easy fight as a level 75 protection paladin, it just takes long. I have about tier 4 gear. My hp is 16.2k and I have 493 defense. Used Moroes' Lucky Pocket Watch and Lay on Hands.. and a couple of holy lights.
Used Seal of Wisdom + Judgement of wisdom, along with blessing of sanctuary for keeping mana up.

Rotation: Judgement, holy shield, hammer of the righteous, shield of the righteous and occasionally an Avenger's Shield. I just used holy light whenever my hp reached somewhere around 5.500-7.500. Since you don't get pushed back after 2 hits, it was quite easy to heal through his damage. Be sure to have atleast green hp before 25% when he enrages. Started off hitting me quite high (1000) but slowly went down to about 300 damage. Enrage was a bit annoying and I used a lay on hands for a quick heal.

Affliction lock 77, soloed with Voidie tanking, slow dps with siphon, coe till around 50% during which i just heal pet.

After that use all ur dots and go all out till u pull aggro, soulshatter
he goes enrage around 25-30%, keep going all out all the while healing ur pet and watching ur threat and gg.

Solo'd as a 74 Frost DK in tanking gear. Didn't take too long, just basically kept both diseases on him and death striked if i got low on hp. in my tanking gear i had 507Def and 17.8k hp. Never went below 10k hp :)

Managed to solo as a 75 prot pally with ok gear...nothing wild...about half green and half blued out, no epics. Had to lay on hands once but avoided having to use any divine shield or hand of protection and I have figurine of the colossus to help heal while I block that I used once or twice. DPS according to my melee stats is at 222.7 and defense is at 401. Hp is at 12119 and mana is at 6468.

Retribution aura (devotion would probably be better but I forgot to change it lol)
rotated judgment of light, shield of righteousness and hammer of the righteous while keeping holy shield up at all times. Holy light if health got down to half and if mana was getting low, just holy shield and keep your judgment of light up so you get healed a bit. I also used divine plea and avenging wrath as needed for mana or extra dmg/heals. Like I said, had to lay on hands once but I made it through. 106K hp! Whew! :D

Quite easy to do this quest solo as a feral druid. All i did was simply buff up to full health and mana (VERY IMPORTANT) and then cast regrowth and rejuvination on my self before i engaged him, i dragged him back to shore in bear form and he was on around 85% health by then. Whenever i got the chance i popped out of bear form and healed a bit (note: i have 2pc t5 so this was easy for me) and went back into bear form, weathered him down until enrage. When he enraged his dps skyrocketed so i popped barkskin, Badge of Tenacity and Frenzied Regeneration. This combo along with beserk and Engrage meant that i finished the fight with ~80% health and 100% mana.

75 unholy DK in DPS gear - got creamed. On 9K armor he hits for 1500 and crits for 2600. Got him down maybe 50%. Death Strike had no hope of healing through for me...

Barely managed to solo as a 74 Ret Pally in Season 2-4 gear (probably because the resilience kept me from being crit more often); wore him down to about 15% before bubbling, healed to full, and still had to Lay on Hands after the bubble.

Definitely recommend getting a group, or at least a good tank and healer.

Was able to solo as a 77 Prot Pally. First off, don't forget about the blessings that you get from the statues when you turn in the Drakkari Offerings! (gives you 3 Pally buffs) Used Blessing of Sanc, Seal of Light and kept Judgement of Light up. Cast DP as needed for mana and kept Holy Shield up as much as possible. Then you just heal yourself as needed every now and then. I only had to burn thru 1 Healing pot and used my Divine Shield + bandage when he enraged. Did not even need LoH

very easy to solo for a prot Pally, I was lvl 75 decent quest and boss gear, never had to use LoH or a bubble. just throw devotion up and all of your mana regenerating abilities, seal of wisdom, blessing of sanctuary, etc... just tank n spank all by yourself.

Soloed as protection warrior lvl 78.

These stats:

19,5k HPs
16,5k armor
447 defence
28% dodge+parry
13% block chance, block mitigating 601 dmg.

Went pretty smooth, popped enraged regen when i was down about 30%, keeping shield block up/thuderclap/demoshout everytime possible, used healing trinket from the undercity quest (Medallion of Heroism), and one runic pot. On enrage popped Shield wall. Fight ended with me having some 40% HPs. Didnt need to pop o'shi button (Last Stand) at all.
So go prot, go :)

Keep Health Funnel up even if your pet is low if you're specced Siphon Life & Health Funnel(30% Less damage while health funneling) at least, so you won't ever run out of health if you have a corruption and Curse of Agony on Rageman. Make sure you Life Tap every once in awhile. Fairly easy fight.'

Another Tip : DO NOT use Immolate, because if you're like me having Immolate & Curse of Agony & Corruption up without anything else you'll pull, pluss with Health Funnel you'll pull for sure, just keep Corruption & Curse of Agony on, so you won't need to waste a soul shatter.

Used judgment of light and was talented to for spiritual focus so healed myself whenever I got to 40 % and used plea as often as possible. Eventually had to bubbled and LoH but the fight was very doable in decent gear.

Soloed as 78 enhancement shaman. A little challenging. No totems to start, that would have made it easier I think. Fought alone until my health was below 50% then called the Spirit Wolves, then a few seconds after popped the Fire Elemental. Kept throwing heals on myself whenever Maelstrom Weapon was maxed, called on Shamanistic Rage when mana was getting low. Fight took 1:20.

Soloed as a 75prot pally in blue and green quest gear from northrend. 15k hp, 18k armor. Started out with seal of wisdom and judged wisdom too so i could do max dmg and not worry about mana (used normal protadin rotation)... that did NOT work. I dropped low on hp and bubbled, healed up, changed to seal of light and judgement of light. This way worked. Even with divine plea (it reduces ALL healing you do with 50%) i managed to down him with 12k hp and no mana.

Solo'd as 74 prot pally. Mostly crafted gear (tempered saronite and cobalt armor) and few quest rewards - 14k HP, 17k Armor. Used Seal of Light, Blessing of Sanctuary, Devotion Aura. Rotated through Hammer of the Righteous, Judgement of Light, Holy Shield, Consecration, and Exorcism. Kept Divine Plea up through fight (talented) for mana regen. Had to use Lay on Hands when Ragemane was approx. 20k HP. No additional healing or pots. Finished w/ 50% HP.

Barely managed to solo as Ret pally, lvl 78. I was wearing 7/8 savage saronite crafted pvp set, stood at about 15k hp and 12k armor

Used seal of light and judgement of light and just did what you usually do when soloing elites, aka. FoL on art of war procs n stuff. Had to bubble about halfway through cos i lacked a bit on art of wars.

I finished this with only 1k HP because of the enrage he got at around 20k HP and since i didn't have a bubble to use (too lazy to take up LoH from spellbook >_<) it was really close. With decent tactic and good usage of cooldowns this should be doable at lower lvl aswell.

It's not too difficult to solo as a warlock. Managed to kill him on the first try as an affliction warlock. Send voidwalker and do not attack Ragemane at all as it generates too much threat. Just keep health funnel the whole time and whenever you are low on hp, pop a corruption on Ragemane and carry on health funneling. Improved health funnel would help greatly as you can sometimes easy off the health funnel to reduce a bit of threat.

Solo'd as 76 Paladin. Tried as Ret first, best attempt got him to 11% before enraged hits killed me. Tried as Holy, turtled up and used melee hits, Holy Shock and Exorcism to deal damage while healing myself with Concentration Aura up. Kept mana as high as possible with Seal/Judgement of Wisdom, Divine Plea, through the first 70%. After Enrage, had to heal more, used bubble when low HP for free heals and some damage and got him down fairly easily. 1.1k spell power, 10k HP, 12k MP, 25% holy crit.

Had a decked lvl 80 shaman buddy help me kill him in bout 15seconds.... no healing or cd's necassary I am a level 75 prot pally. The respawn rate is high on this guy, and the shaman dc'd. I aggrod, and solod him at level 75 prot spec with lvl70 TBC epics easily...

Fairly simple and straightforward fight as a solo lvl 74 feral druid.

Faerie fire pull, demo roar + mangle + lacerates (keep all those up). Swipe when you have extra rage for crit heals. Maul when you have excess rage as well. Faerie fire when you don't have enough rage for any of these things.

Use barkskin immediately after the pull so you can use it again later, namely when he enrages around 25% or so.

You can save your cooldowns (Survival Instincts, Berserk, Enrage, Frenzied Regeneration, trinkets, etc.) for when he enrages to shorten the time you're in the pain.
I blew mine early on and still killed him with 75% of my health left.

Immune to stun, btw.

Regarding the rewards, Staff of the Sorrowful Chieftain is very excellent for feral druids.
It replaced both my dps weapon (Tidebreaker Trident) as well as my tanking weapon (Writhing Longstaff) in one shot.
I'll be holding on to this new prize until Hewn Sparring Quarterstaff from Halls of Lightning providing it drops and I win it. :-/

Edit: Whale-Stick Harpoon is another nice future replacement. Also Witch Doctor's Wildstaff from Gundrak.

Just another obligatory "soloed by class at level" post. =)

Prot Pally alt, level 74. Used my tanking set with Blessing of Sanc. and Devotion Aura.
526 Defense, 17,000-ish Armor and about 15,700 Health. Gear was on the low end, wearing quest rewards and cheap AH BoE's (Cobalt Breastplate, Shield) along with some pretty outdated stuff (Weapon was the Horseman's sword, and Trinkets were Dabiri's Enigma and the one from Overlord way back in Hellfire Penn).
No food buffs or Elixirs.

Straight up tank 'n spank. Avenging Wrath, pull with Avenger's Shield, Judge Light, keep Divine Plea rolling, Holy Shield every cooldown, you know the drill.

Took a little time but was never in any danger. I healed with Holy Light a couple of times midway through, but never had to bubble or Lay on Hands or use a potion.

He will Enrage when there is still a good chunk of health left in his bar, but he doesn't seem to do much more damage. His melee swings are fairly slow, so if you need to heal you won't face much in the way of pushbacks. His hits are solid but you've likely faced much worse when soloing Elites before.

And yes, the Quest text was quite amusing. I love Wolvar. ^.^

tl:dr ~ Paladins, as soon as you ding 74, fly out there and solo him.

I just keep on seal of light, divine plea, holy shield, devotion aura and judge him with JoL and LoW .... I healed myself few times after he enraged ... this fight takes about 6 minutes to me and quest revards are so sweet :)

Orcs tanks should keep an eye on Crescent of Brooding Fury (an Axe), since Axe Specialization will add 5 to Expertise (41 Expertise rating - lvl.80). Which will make it more appeal than other rewards for tanking. If you don't really concern on weapon speed, ofc.

Soloed as a 74 prot pally with 15.1k health and 19k armor and had little problem with him until he enraged and had to use a health pot to recover some health. Just kept DP up to get mana regen along with JOL and SOC.

Make sure you keep up you Holy shield to block most of the dmg he does.

Easily, EASILY Soloable as a 74 Prot pally. I only had about 14.8k health and 18.6k armor. Just hit up your divine plea, keep judgement of light on him, have seal of light on and make sure your holy shield and hammer of righteous is always active. The only time he got me past 90% health was when he enraged. Even then I never had to lay on hands or divine shield though.

Used shield block every chance i had, kept tclap and demo shout up at all times, weaved shield wall inbetween shield blocks. Had to pop last stand + enraged regen, ended with 4k health. definitely doable.

Solo'd as a 74 prot warrior in the cobalt set + any blue rewards from instances (and using the BoA chest/shoulders). Just slowly kite him back to Light's breach (ie: attack him constantly while running backwards, never give him your back so that you can block).

Pop shield block -> shield wall -> shield block while keeping demo + tclap up. Pop last stand if you are about to die then health pot right as it fades. A nice challenge for a warrior with no heals :)

Soloed as a 77 retri paladin in regular greens/blues quest rewards. I used SoC, BoW and retri aura. Regular dps cycle and FoL on every Art of War proxx. HoL when health drops too low. When he enrages just keep throwing in more HoL and she goes down.

Died the first time - forgot to use Lay on Hands. Didn't make that mistake 2nd time around!

Used Seal of Vengeance, Blessing of Wisdom and Devotion Aura. When he enraged I used Avenging Wrath and that finished him off.

Kept Divine Plea up all the time thanks to Glyph of Divine Plea. Still ran out of mana at the end though so I might have had an easier time using Seal of Wisdom - but less dmg so who knows. Used one Health potion + Life Blood.

Gear - standard Northrend blues and greens, 13.5k HP and 5k mana pool

Only other time I managed to solo this mob was with a lvl 80 Moonkin and died several times before success.

Soloed as a level 75 prot warrior. Went in buffed from Elixer of Mighty Strength, Elixer of Protection, and Blackened Dragonfin (ok and Bloodboil Poison, I was desperate, and it was sitting in my bank, not sure how much this affected the strategy). Bloodrage, Battle Shout, Charge. Popped Shield Block and Shield Wall right off the bat. Always made sure to keep up Thunderclap and Demoralizing Shout. At 90% health popped Runic Health Potion. At about 60% health, popped Enraged Regeneration. Once he starts getting down he enrages, popped Last Stand and Shield Block was back up, popped that again. He went down.

just solod as a 74 prot warrior wearing my "stamina set" no heirlooms, mostly blues and greens from dungeons and questing. got him on my 2nd try.

used stam scroll, 30 stam food buff, lesser rune of warding, lesser rune of shielding, and commanding shout. was at just about 20.6k health. charged in popped shield block, once that wore off popped shield wall and used shield block when off cooldown. used level 55 healing pot and last stand when close to death. just kept wailing on him while keeping thunderclap debuff on him and finished him off with about 1k health left on my last stand. was not 75 so no enraged regeneration. good luck for those who attempt it :)

Tried three times, and found it was barely solo'able as an 80 Frost Mage (17K HP, 20K Mana) - Ice Armor, Arcane Intellect, Dampen Magic (force of habit; this guy is a melee fight). Water Ele (9K HP 4.7K mana) (AI, DM, FM)

Pull with Ele and Frostbolt a bit, refresh Ice Barrier, keep attacking until he breaks the barrier, and pop mirrors/trinks/IV. Strafe away a bit, and nuke him down. In my case, my mirrors died when he enraged, and my Ele died soon after - Cold Snap for a new Ele, Ice Block to drop agg. Ele had 1.5K HP and I had 9K when we were done.

I soloed as a 74 resto shaman. He was fairly easy as i popped out my fire elemental totem ater hitting him with a lightning bolt to get his attention. From there the only real prob was that i started to run low on mana bcos my ele held agro pretty well and he wouldnt activate my water shield. After 2 minutes was up he had about 20pct health left so i dropped a magma totem and tanked him mysel until my totem killed him. Finished with about 80 pct mana left over and full health. Gotta love riptide for that extra bit of healing that helps me outlast either an enh/ele shaman...

Could not solo as 80 MM hunter with either tenacity or ferocity pet. Hit capped, 3500AP, not great, not awful, and we can get him to 1/2 hp before the pet gives out or I pull aggro one too many times and just have to feign. Oh well.

just completed as a lvl 80 rogue....very diff. went one on one to see if it could be done.....yeah...it can...two daggers juiced with poison and he went down......missiion complete...however, while i was skinning rageman, anew rageman ress behind me and took what little life i had ....yeah i was stupid. should have vanished, gone ashore, got healthy and gone back for the skin....oh well.

Soloable as a 76 Feral (Bear) Druid. Just use your Barkskin on CD and pop Survival Instincts/Runic Health Potion when he enrages. I used Enrage everytime it was off of CD as well, just because I was rage starved. Happy hunting!

Edit: Only used Mark of the Wild, a food buff, thorns, and a Runic Health Potion.

Change to blocking mechanics + No Enraged Regen until 76 brings the difficulty back into doing this.

I just completed this at 79 and was awarded 478 reputation with the Argent Crusade. My guild does have Mr. Popularity (rank 1), however 350 + 5% is 367.5... and I'm a Tauren, not a Human. Seems the rep rewards were buffed. :)

*Just* about solo'd it as a lvl76 disc priest.

Took 3 attempts mind. Was a case of popping PW:shield whenever possible, pennace for the few seconds the shield is up (so the channel doesn't get interrupted) keeping SW:pain and renew active at all times, when i was above 70-80% hp i tried to get a few smites in, otherwise i'd be healing myself. I'd recommend saving pain suppression and PW: barrier until the end, you'll need it when he enrages.

Interestingly, this was the very first time since rolling this priest (it's a new gnome one) i'd needed to use the shadowfiend or a mana pot.

Not difficult to solo as a retpala. I soloed lvl 76. Used Seal of insight and Blessing of Might for mana. Use judgement whenever it's up and flash of light when on 50% hp. It enrages at ~20% so you have to focus more on healing there so remember to use judgement or you will go oom. If you do go oom just bubble and judgement to get som mana back.
He's stun immune for the record.

Solo'd as a level 76 BM hunter in Heirlooms, Brutal Gladiator Gear and some questing/dungeon blues.

Sent pet in, had him built with extra hp/armor and Lick Your Wounds talent, popped Bestial Wrath asap and kept Mend Up. Had Heart of the Phoenix ready just incase, but didn't need it.

As a lv 75 Protection Paladin, this quest was easily soloable. I used Blessing of Kings and Seal of Insight. Mana wasn't a thought at all, and Word of Glory was more than sufficient to keep me nice and high in health. A word of warning though: When he enrages, you're best off killing him quick, although even then he's really no problem at all. This quest provided pretty nice rewards as well. Good luck!

This quest is now quite soloable as a priest given some of the recent buffs (particularly to PW:S). I just solo'd it as a shadow priest. Just time your CDs and you should be fine. I didn't even need to use a pot.

Soloed as a 74 Ret Paladin with 9k armor, 10k health, heirloom chest, shoulder and weapon. Died once, then tried using Seal of Insight, Judgement as soon as possible and Blessing of Might for infinite mana. All holy power charges went to Word of Glory, and during enrage used Concentration Aura and Flash of Light when I had less than 70% health. Almost ran out of mana near the end.

Solo'd as 75 prot warrior, used taunt to pull him. Swam backwards while shield block was up get to the coast where there is a random troll mob, killed him for victory rush then used combo of shield block / shield wall and a health pot to finish him off.

Solo'd today as a 75 arcane mage. Popped mana shield to withstand the first hit. Used mirror image blinked and he started attacking the mirrors. Popped arcane power and arcane blast spammed him down.

Solo'd Lvl 74 Prot warrior with brutal gladiator gear used 1 potion and healing trinket Tip for prot warrior as soon as you get into the fight pop shield wall keep shield block when he enrages other than that just keep rend on him and when you get low hp heal with your potion

Just some info that might be of use to any Prot Pallies trying to decide which weapon to go with, there is one clear and easy answer, The Crescent of Brooding Fury

Why, you may ask? Look over a few of our spells and you'll note that their damage is determined by a percentage of your weapon's damage.

The Crescent of Brooding Fury may be the slowest, however, it's damage is much higher, which would make our percentage of weapon dmg Spells much more so.

Just slap a nice enchant on it, to enhance it's bling, and of course more dmg.

Additionally, I took him down with little problem as a level 74 Prot Pally. Just get him onto land, which is easiest by flying to the opposite side of the lake/pond and Avenger Shield him and quickly swim to land.

Very soloable as a lvl 80 mage someone said. I was surprised to read this because as a lvl 81 mage I could not defeat this guy. He outlasted the mirror images by a long shot and cannot be kited as he is immune to frost nova. Once he finished with them, he quickly darted at me with predictable results. I couldn't kill him because of his hard hits and my inability to keep him off me.

I followed previous advice and tried to fight this guy on the shore. Watch out for other mobs who will agro from a long distance if you do. I put down a thornling seed which is supposed to attract mobs to keep them off you briefly. Didn't work.

In addition to a food buff and a battle and guardian scroll, I even used indestructible potion (increases armor by 3500 for 15 seconds) and frost armor (reduces damage taken by 15%, movement speed of the target reduced by 30%, time between attacks by 20%) and was still unable to survive.

I don't enjoy quests of this type. This guy should be rated higher than 74 elite. I'll try again when I have better gear and a few more levels under my belt.

Just for spite I came back with my 85 DK and tromped the crap out of the guy.

Soloable as a 76 Arcane Mage with heirlooms (not wep) and quest greens and blues. Pop everything (including mana shield) in the start and let it kill the mirror images while Blasting him. You might need to Blink once or twice.
