Make sure you retain the Eyes of the Eagle buff otherwise you won't be able to see Garwal if this happens.

Stay in the area around 26, 15. You can view Garwal's pat area here. He took roughly 4-5minutes to respawn after being killed.

For those wanting to keep the Wolf Disguise, you can do so by not turning in the quest. However, it can only be used in Howling Fjord and you are only friendly towards other Worgs in that area.

Killed him at 26,13 He looked like a big white wolve, till you started attacking him, then he turned into a half human/wolf guy.

He says "Enough of this charade" before changing to the werewolf form.

oh, i didn't realise he would revert to his true form. while i was battling him, i accidentally aggro'd another worg, so i feared them both just as he said "enough of this charade!" and he ended up staying in wolf form, and dying in wolf form. sad.

This was weird. I got the eyes buff and was in worg disguise running around looking for this guy. I accidentally crossed into Grizzly Hills. When I did, I lost both the eyes buff and the worg disguise. So I went back to the cave, but found that my worg disguise was missing from my pack. I guessed that it must have had charges and thought maybe I can get another disguise from the quest giver Watcher Moonleaf. I went back and talked to her but could get nothing from her. So, I can't get another disguise for some reason even though the first quest in the chain said I could, and now I cant complete this because I can't talk to the worg to get this quest again.

Sigh...

This is a known bug according to a gms. anybody who lost their disguises while this won't be able to get one until the bug have been fixed, found this out while I did it on my alt by mistake.

By the way, if you love this costume and you'd rather not give it up, don't finish this quest and you can keep the costume. I think however, it might be possible to not pick up this last quest at all and you'll be able to keep the costume. The costume works in most parts of Howling Fjord, but that's the only place. Enjoy!

Yeah, had the exact same problem but if you go back to Watcher Moonleaf in Steel Gate (the one who gave the disguise in the first place) will have another one ready for ya =)

TIP: DO NOT COMPLETE THIS QUEST, save the costume and have it on an action bar. A lot of quests are just running around short/medium distances where mounting up just isn't worth it, that's where this comes in handy; grab the item costume run to the next one etc etc. Hope this helps and speeds up your leveling time!

The costume takes one second to cast mount takes three and a level 70 should have their epic mount so 100% speed verse 80%. Any quest you have to run a short distance for will usually not require you to dismount so no the costume will not speed up anything, you mount will be faster.

The quest mob can be tame and will be considered a wolf! So you can run around with a pet armor werewolf lol.

There is currently a bug on LIVE realms that allows you to obtain this as a hunter pet in his Worgen form
However due to phasing if you have already completed this quest you CANNOT obtain the pet.

Below is the method used to obtain the pet (You must be survival spec to do so) (From; http://hunter.gamingfaces.net/)

"To tame Garwal (thanks Icemaz)

1. Get Wyvern Sting. It does about 19% damage by itself over 6 secs, and sleeps for 30.
2. Find him.
3. Hurt him until he is approx 67-69% health.
4. Wyvern sting him.
5. Wait till there is 14 secs left on Wyvern sting. **
6. At 14 secs left, cast tame beast. **
7. If done right, right as your tame ends, he will have just transformed."

(**This number is not a constant, and is subject to change due to your haste rating. Please See below for further information)

This takes PRECISE TIMING , even being a split second off can ruin it forcing him to go into his white wolf form when you tame him.
I will attempt to post a screen shot of the pet after it is tamed (I personally have obtained me one); It took me 5-6 attempts of actually taming the pet to get it (not counting the many times i failed and was forced to reset it or kill him)

"For starting tame times:
0 Haste, 14 seconds, maybe 15.
With a 19 second cast time, 13 seconds, maybe 14.
...
With a 15 second cast time, 9 seconds, maybe 10.
And so on."

For those of you that may require further proof here is a post on the official worldofwarcraft forums (There is a number of post currently on the hunter forums, however this is the one i used to find and obtain my lovable worgen pet)

~ Personally I have 500something haste rating, making my Tame Beast about a 16-17 second channel time, the derived method above works beautifully but i was getting a bit of trouble out of it... for me i was using viper the entire time, i was able to get him down to 53-56% and then used wyvern sting on him... at roughly 14-16 seconds remaining on the sting i began channeling and then i had my pet =)! (Please keep in mind that i had Aspect of the viper up {50% Damage reduction}, so my timing that I posted is not going to be exactly in line with the small haste table provided above)

**Important note: This has the exact same stats and abilities as any other wolf, it just has a nice little worgen model.

It seems with the recent maintenance blizzard has made these pets untamable! It should also be noted that for me personally my pets abilities and talents wer stripped however i still have him in his cool worgen form... So basically blizzard decided to take away our new toy...

Official Blue Post Stated that the pets abilities and talents were removed, no more information has been released on the matter.

I dedicate this to blizzard, taking the time and resources to take something away that doesn't affect gameplay whatsoever!

Update/Notice: To those down-rating all comments in relationship to the worgen I implore you to please go the full mile and make false accounts for the soul purpose of attempting to have relevant and insightful comments removed. I do not write this out of anger, but more so out of pity. I would also like to ask why you feel the need to attempt to remove any and all traces of the worgen like you more than likely have on the WoW Forums.

PS: To all you "haters" out there, whether it be out of random stupidity or jealousy that you completed the quest on your hunter and was unable to get one... I furthermore implore you to do us all a favor, grow up, and get over it please =)! If blizzard wants to take away our worgens then so be it, we own nothing in this game and its blizzard to do whatever they feel (Hell if they wanted to they could delete all our toons and we couldn't do anything about it other than qq about it). Until the time comes that blizzard does make a final decesion (if the current one is not that already) then i ask you to quit crying and trying to despirately to have something taken away from others just because you yourself cannot have any.

PSS: To all of you whom it does not concern (I do not mean that in a spiteful way**) I apologize for any sort of drama or upstart that it seems I may be trying to cause, I just wish to make it known that the number of spiteful, hateful, and bashful comments reguarding the worgen (from both sides of it) is just sickening and does my heart sad to see that something such as this could create such a rift in the Hunter community of this game...

You may run into a group of hunters trying to get a Worgen pet while trying to complete this quest. If this is the case, just try to be speedier or, for those daring enough, actually try asking to complete your quest nicely.

I opted for the speedkill route and had to deal with a bunch of boohooing hunters.

I got it this day.

I hitted him till he was on 57% then i casted the wyvern sting on it.
0 haste rating and at 16sec i clicked on tame beast.

and voila a new worg pet

Those of us who were able to tame him as a worgen before the hotfix logged into an unfortunate situation. Our new pet was still there but all his abilities and talents have been stripped. This leaves us with a show piece and nothing more... Thanks Blizz ....

He functioned like any other wolf and had the same abilities. However he looked like a worgen which made me a very happy hunter...past tense.

I tamed him yesterday and already got him up two levels ( me 80 hunter) logged in and like Tyarach, found he shows on pet tab and you are still able to lvl him, but alas no pet talents or pet spell book.
I shall keep him I think a companion pet you able to lvl, and live in hope that Blizzard will let those who have tamed him give back the wolf abilities

well i just tried to tame him...i went to IF to change my spec to survival...i got to this part of the chain...i spent forever on this (i also had to pay attention to my puppy) i tried to tame him and he is untamable...3 days of my life i wont get back...BLIZZARD YOU SUCK! WHAT WAS WRONG WITH HAVING HIM TAMABLE!

Ok for those of us that have tamed him there is a ray of hope. I placed in a ticket, from the reply I received. It maybe a cliche. Meaning those of us who have tamed him can keep and have as a "wolf pet" As in the past this sort of thing has been allowed to happen, and then made a particular pet untamable. Allowing those that have tamed to keep said pet i.e Queen Wasp in the basin

I will post here as soon as I know for sure with an update, so do not abandon him, just yet.

Also of interest to hunters, It appears at this current time Pettopia is down or no longer a resource service. as of today, again I shall write and confirm here about this wonderful l fantastic web resource for hunters, will up date on these issues.

Just wanted to let everybody know that you can get the Eye of the Eagle buff Without the worgen disguise.
All you have to do is simply use the disguise and cancel it immidialy, such as walk forward or jump.
Then you will get the buff and be in your normal form, to be able to use your flying or ground mount to speed up the search.
And make a macro such as:
/target Garwal

Hope this will be helpful for some :)

When you are looking for him he is in full wrog form. he will look like a big gray wolf. He doesn't change into a wrogen until you start to kill him.

In NW HF there is a cave and two mountains south of the cave. I put on the wolf garb and stood on the hill south of the cave. Garwal just appeared and attacked me. All the wolves in the area will attack you too because you change in to normal form. I fought two in addition to Garwal.

Edit: Found him after 30 minutes, idk what did it, I tried reloading, regetting the quest, reapplying the eyes, running on foot, flying, being in worg form... just took forever... but that was the last quest for NR Loremaster...

Tried this quest today did not receive the eyes of the eagle buff therefore unable to see Garwal, abanded the quest and was unable to pick it up again as the wolf disguise had vanished from my bags. Could be bugged as of Dec. 1/10

What I'm confused about is how you retain the Eyes of the Eagle for this quest. When I completed Eyes of the Eagle, I turned them in as a quest item; now when I go to try and disturb the eggs or kill Talonstrike, it won't let me.

If you are looking for Garwel as he is in the screenshot, u won't find him. You have to be in the Worg disguise (available from Steels Gate but u should already have this) and have Eagle Eyes. He is a large white wolf. He then transforms to the screenshot when he has 15-20% health left. Hope this helps

Be careful there are no other worgs within range when you attack him, combat instantly changes you back into normal form and they will attack if they see you.

Ran around for five minutes because he wasn't there. At all. I almost gave up, so decided to read the comments here for any clues. Alt+tab-ed back and he came walking by. So best thing to do is to go where the map tells you and wait. Just WAIT.

To meet Garwal you need to be the area around here. (TomTom Addon required)

When you are around that area, the buff Eye of the Eagle becomes auto-active under your profile.

Just wait for a while, Garwal will be appeared and start walking around. Then attack him.

Only solution was to make a quick macro:

/tar Garwal

and use the quest target circle as a basic guide and run around like a maniac, spamming clicking on my macro button.

Before that a painful ten minutes trying to be patient and give Blizzard the benefit of the doubt.
