This is the Alliance version of the quest.

Quest is started with this item which is a random drop off mobs in Skorn:

You should get:

Experience: 25400.
10 Gold (not 25 gold 24 silvers).
And 350 reputation with the Valiance Expedition.

Quest is bugged in 3.03. The item will not summon the mob.

Since a server restart, the quest has been fixed for me. I'm on Wildhammer (EU). I don't know about the other servers, though. I think Blizzard restarted all servers.

I just did it successfully. He spawned immediately. This was just after the rolling restarts on 11/14/2008.

This was is still bugged. Not sure what it is, but there were five of us standing there throwing it into the fire and nothing. :[

You must be between the entrances to the Vrykul "Citadel" to start the quest. It works this way.

I just got it done. Two "angels" in the form of Val'kyr Observers were hovering by the fire, I used the item just next to the fire, and he spawned in the middle of Val'kyr Observers.

I just did this quest myself it worked fine but i did notice that no one was around though yesterday when i tried it there was 6 other people trying to do it as well. Leaves me to believe if you have Multiple players spaming the scroll trying to get it all to work at the same the quest will bug for a while, so its best to do this quest when your alone at the fire and no one is around

This quest will bug if you are between the fire and the stone rings. Stand 5 yards south of the stone ring and the quest will work fine.

Normal mob, couldn't even kill my pet.

You do not need to stand around after he is dead to watch the event for credit.

VERY easy Quest. Ran through Skorn up to the top, Vanished & spawned him (I had 50%) and then burned him down. His spirit comes out and the Val'kyr banish his soul. Very easy :D

This may be a reference to a series of Buffy the Vampire Slayer episodes where the good guys were all teaming up to stop the Ascension of Mayor Wilkins from human to demon form.

If it isn't said allready you get a surprise. I summoned and when "they" spawned they started to hit me like crazy. I am 78 so i was ok, i thought it was a walk in the park so i was pretty relaxed. I ended up with 6k hp from over 15k because i was not ready for it. I guess if you are ¨70 you are in for fight. I just want to give a head up for it.

Fun fact: after completing the initial quest (the spawn/kill), the quest text tells you to return to Westgarde Keep as opposed to Westguard.

For those who might be targeting some of the gear on this quest, it appears you must be on the Skorn quest line from Westguard to get the scroll to drop.

I didn't kill a ton, but quite a few to test this. If someone else got it to drop without going to Westguard, please let us know.

Working on Lore Master and I have an add on either Quest Completist or QuestHubber and says the warrior drops what starts the quest. I have killed so many and nothing has dropped yet. Moving on, if anyone has anything to add would appreciate it.

Stop the Ascension!

Present the Vrykul Scroll of Ascension near the Thane's Pyre to call him out and slay him. Afterward, due to the nature of the ritual, you're sure that Father Levariol at Westguard Keep will be interested in seeing the scroll.

Description

This huge scroll is made from dragon skin. Unfurling its more-than-ten-foot length, you can see that the images painted upon its scaly surface depict a mysterious vrykul ritual.

A vrykul thane, surrounded by angelic-looking beings, ascends into the heavens. A mysterious, darkened figure looms large in the picture's background.

A tingling in your gut tells you that the thane of Skorn is about to do this. You must stop it! A large pyre sits at the top of Skorn in front of the thane's lodge.
