Is it just me or is this just a way for blizz to be like "LOL here is a shiny new blue for you! TY for buying TBC!" cuz this quest was hella easy! I mean, it took me 30 seconds to complete! The area is always being farmed so it was completely clear when I did it and I picked up the jerkin as the reward, since I'm feral druid. TY BLIZZ!

The towers are all located in the area SE of Honor Hold labeled on the map as Zeth'gor. Cords are:

1. Northern Tower (68,67)-- outside the encampment
2. Southern Tower (66,76)
3. Forge Tower (70,69)
4. Foothill Tower (70,71)

They are all tall wood structures.

If you're really impatient to get the blues, do like I did on my paladin. Stripped to the skin, bubbled up and ran in to place the Smoke Beacons then ran towards the next tower and die. Rince, repeat!

There is a bug where this item will disappear from your inventory and render the quest unfinishable. This was confirmed as a bug by a GM on 4/17/07.

You have to abandon and restart the quest =/

After doing this on my hunter when BC came out as soon as i got my mage to outland i ran over and did this quest, the chest will last quite a while and as mentioned above quite an easy quest

Just stand under the tower, and use the beacon. After the quest, the beacon will be still in your backpack, but it will dissapear after +- 20 minutes (depend how much time u have played that quest).

Try to get somebody to help, specially when you are inside the camp. I did the quest in 58 lvl with a friend also 58 lvl (both frost mages).

When you find first tower, just look around and try to see another. There are near themselves.

As a 58 rogue I completed this in no time with no deaths and not much fights only four as maximum if u follow my instructions:
When i went there there was about 3 orcs around each tower discluding the patrolling ones.
I sapped the toughest orc and stayed at the other side of the tower from one of the orcs, next I distracted one of the two orcs away from me and hit the last orc and killed him quick since he was a peon and i was a sub rogue which means high damage Ambush ( if you can't kill an orc in 10secs try pulling him away from the distracted one without pulling an orc from behind you.
Now all what you have to do is place the beacon and vanish.

Did this solo with my Prot. Spec. Warrior. Found it rather easy as you don't have to be under the tower as it says to use the beacon. I cleared 1 maybe 2 mobs from a corner of each tower and walked right up to the corner post and was able to drop the beacons. Much easier than trying to clear everything to use the beacon under the tower or the run nekkid Pali. trick. :) Just time it with the patrols and you will be fine. Hope this helps!

If You are a hunter just Dismiss your pet and run to a tower and feight death. Once you leave combat use the item and run to the other tower and do the same thing

lol i just waited for 1 hour to expire and went nutso, got it done with 20 mins left (uber, i know) the advice i have for Feral/Balance druids is to stealth near it, pick one off at a time, and burn it down

I did this two days ago (Sunday night) and turned in the quest! Last night, when I logged on, the Smoke Beacon was still in my pack, and remained there for the 3 + hours I played! Must be bugged, did not disappear after 2 hours!

i was stuck on where the northern tower was, even though i had passed it several time on the way into the camp and just dismissed it because it was outside. I didn'y realise that the barrel had a timer on it until i went to the last tower and it said it had 54 seconds left!

Solo'd this as a lvl 60 Rogue. No problems, just run up, sap one, kill the other nearest, and use the beacon, then vanish and run to the next tower. You can use the beacon in combat, and vanish. Worked a treat. But would have been a pain if I didn't know where the towers were from wowhead.

If you're a druid than of course you're lucky - this quest is incredibly easy for us!

Stealth in cat to under the towers and place the beacon.
Then shift to travel form and run run run away.

I didn't have to kill even 1 mob...

I wonder if this would work in a group? If so, other classes having problems should find a druid and group! And then stand back and let the druid do their stuff.

Save a little time and approach the southern tower from outside the camp. At 66,78 you can get over the fence with some careful jumping, and then you only have to kill the two mobs right by the tower instead of having to clear a path to it through the encampment.

Note that the Smoke Beacon does not have a "cast time," so if you're good at kiting or have enough armour to survive, feel free to run straight through and drop one, since you won't be interrupted.

This is yet another shining example showing how Alliance is favored (quest-wise) in WoW. Compare this version to the Horde version and Blizzard may as well just give Alliance players the quest reward, gold and experience points for nothing. And yes, I've done both versions and know the Horde version is far more time-consuming and difficult.

As of Feb 2011, the quest info provided here is incorrect. The actual quest does not involve blues as a reward at all, and the objectives are different, despite the same title.

Just to clear up any confusion as I completed this quest first as Alliance. The Horde edition of this quest is located at Zeth'Gor Must Burn!

Ret Pal 58, I had to abandon this quest twice before I finally completed it. The first time was simply because there is no hint anywhere that the beacon expires. So I picked this quest up and planned to do it when it seemed most convenient, as I usually do. I actually got to the first tower and tried to mark it before I realized the beacon was gone, and even then I didn't know what had happened to it. I thought I must have accidentally destroyed it.

The second time was because I couldn't find the southern tower. There are a couple of towers inside the walls, but even though that's the logical place for a tower, they aren't the right ones. So I spent a frustrating time trying to figure out the issue, then had to log off and, of course, the beacon expired again before I could get back to it.

Finally I came here and got map coords, and learned about the expiring beacon. It was easy after that.

I can't say the quest is bugged, because it's working as it was meant to. It's just very, VERY badly designed. At the very least, the quest-giver could inform us that the beacon will expire in a couple of hours after accepting the quest. It should not be necessary to check a fansite in order to have a reasonable chance of completing a quest successfully.

What is with this wing commander Dabir'ee. After I burned the towers I went back to him and he had another quest . A bombing mission for Forward Commander Kingston and I need a gryphon destroyer. I rode around on the gryphon but couldn't shoot or kill anything. Just a ride I guess? Didn't get anything for it.

Having flying skill sure does make this quest easier! And yes the smoke bomb does have a 2h limit so don't forget to do this quest when you get it. The towers your looking for are small and wooden. There are grunts working on them as well. Just land near one, place the smoke bomb, you'll probably aggro one or two grunts. Kill them then mount back up. If you don't have a flying mount at this time, you'll have to carefully navigate through Zeth'Gor killing everything near the towers. At least I remember doing that with this quest before Wrath came out and it was tougher back then.

Surprisingly very easy to attain. Remember to pick up the quests right outside the dark portal before entering outlands. take the flight to honor hold. continue the quest line from there and ones out of honor hold. Head towards where the NPC with this quest is, you'll have to do about a couple of quest before this one turns up. The whole thing from getting there, too attaining the chest piece is no more than 1/2 hour.. Did this with my hunter at level 58.

Seriously Blizzard? So the fliers can NOT see a big ass towers in the front of them which actually you can see from miles away(that's why they are called "towers"). And only thanks to shinny fireworks they are able to locate a specific tower and attack it?...

I would buy that, if that area would be surrounded by the mists or the quest would be explained that you are signaling to let the fliers know it's safe to attack. But the way they say you are "marking the area" to direct the fliers attack is just nonsense to say the least.

Not real sure about coordinates, but I have read the comments on this quest and have a bit of information to add. As of 3-11-2014, the Smoke Beacon is still a time sensitive object. You will need to complete the quest when you accept it; however, it is not nearly as hard as it is being made out to be from the previous comments that I have read. The re-spawn timers must have been extended because I had no problems getting in and out. I did this quest solo with my pet cat. I am a level 63 Hunter Worgen.

This sucks. The GMs constantly nag on about having addons, then blizzard purposely mismarks the map. I know the reward is a blue, but for me in this case, I can almost take it or leave it. All the tips here on wowhead are w/ with coords & I'm tired of the constant haranguing re addons, so all of this just pisses me off more. I've found two of the towers, could swear I've tried to set off smoke bombs w/out luck at about everything else that resembles a tower w/out luck. Now it's just getting tedious & in a few more minutes boring. The death knell of any game. Pffft.....

• Accept Zeth'Gor Must Burn! from Wing Commander Dabir'ee located at coords 71.4, 62.4 (Expedition Point).
• Travel south into Zeth'Gor.
• Go to coords 70.9, 71.3, and use your Smoke Beacon at the Foothill Tower.
• Go northwest to coords 70.1, 69.1, and use your Smoke Beacon at the Forge Tower.

1- you need to kill Bleeding Hollow Peons ( cord : 68 71 ) and loot a torch named Bleeding Hollow Torch
2- then you need to go to the Forge ( cord : 69 69 ) and use those Torch to loot another version of torches named Burning Bleeding Hollow Torch
3- when you had 4 Burning Bleeding Hollow Torch you must go to place im going to mention and use them to burn that places :

Easter Hovel : cord >> 70 70
Stable : cord >> 68 73
Western Hovel : cord >> 67 76
Barracks : cord >> 69 76

Remember you just have 5 min time when you loot Burning Bleeding Hollow. they will be remove after 5 min

If you are coming back to do this at max level (currently 110) to get the transmog, it's pretty quick and doesn't require any previous quests done in this zone. Finished in about 3 minutes with flying (there's a 30 second CD on the item)

Description

It's time to strike Zeth'Gor from the air! Our gryphon riders are ready for a sortie, <name>. But they need someone on the ground to direct their fire. Are you ready for a covert mission?

Take these smoke beacons into Zeth'Gor, the Bleeding Hollow stronghold to the west. They have four guard towers: one near their northern wall, one near their southern wall, one near their forge and another nestled in their foothills. Place a beacon underneath each of the towers and we'll fly in and bomb them!
