After using the feather you will get a (Pet bird) totem witch last for 10 minutes, before that time you have to see Daranelle at 37,65 to finish the quest (3,50 Gold and 8550 XP)

Be sure to use the coordinate for Daranelle she is by path going through town . She had no mark over head and I kept passing her lol.

Don't try to cast the spell and then hearth back to Sylvanaar, it will cancel the spell.

I first thought the token you got was just a fun detail and nothing important - but it is! Do not disband the bird, you need to get to Daranell (37,65) before the token disappears. :)

After you finish the quest and she says that she must analyze it first, then she will talk. She doesn't actually give you another quest so don't wait around like I did. ^.^

In addition to not hearthing after getting the pet bird, also avoid leaving Veil Rhaze by jumping down any of the cliffs that lead out of it, because the bird won't follow; you have to go through Veil Rhaze and back through its entrance to get the bird to come with you. Once this happens, there's no way to get the bird back and you have to abandon the quest.

I found out the hard way.

If you're a Druid lvl 68 this is a very easy quest complete. The bird follows you while you're shapeshifted in your Flight Form. Don't go up too high, because when you're moving he does stay close to the ground, but he does not aggro any mobs. All Coords are correct, the turn in chick is a Centaur outside the big building where u repair =)

This appears to be bugged at the moment - at least for Draenei Shamans. I made it to Daranelle with the bird and buff still intact, and she spoke up when I drew near - the "Good, <name>, you are still under the spells influence. I must analyze it quickly, then we can talk." line. Yet I was still unable to turn in the quest - the questionmark was still grey, and she had no options when rightclicked other than the 'continue' screen with a greyed out continue button.

If you are at lvl 70 and have a flying mount you can both fly above everything. Makes it very easy.

When i went to turn quest in i didnt get the usual yellow circle to tell me where the person was not sure if bug but cords are 37,65 for daranelle

She does have a question mark over her head BUT it didn't turn yellow until I got close.

Daranelle does not appear on the Minimap with a ? sign, you must walk past Daranelle, she will talk and you can complete the quest.

Rewarded me 8550 experience, aswell as 3 gold 50 silver.

This quest is a bitch.... you cant use feing death becouse the birds will still aggro on you. also if you die you gotta restart it..... i died 3 times already and thinkg about abonding it

If you die, the bird disappears and you have to go get it again.

Just a little sidenote for you who are wondering. After you use the questitem in the ring and the pet spawns, it is possible to mount up and run trough the mobs to Daranelle.(good luck with not being dazed ;)

Rogues you are able to Stealth and still have the bird follow you without mobs attack your or bird resetting.

Be aware that using your flight mount will keep you from completing the 2nd part of the quest as the bird cannot follow you

The circle you need to summon the pet bird is at the place where you read the book to accept the quest, on the ground not far from the main road. for a while i thought Daranelle would provide me with the circle, thats NO. now once you use the summoning circle, i mounted on horse (not flying) and ran outta there to Daranelle, and if you get close enough she will do some type of action and can you can talk to her to turn it in.
dont do what i did for 10minutes wondering where the cirlce is, its at the place u read the book, not in the alliance town.

Coordinates for a Circle is (35,77)

You must walk back with the bird. If you fly, you will lose it and the Daranelle will not speak to you and complete the quest.

Ok. Here's how to do, took me awhile.

First go to Veil Lashh, and find one of the big glowing Summoning (?) circles. Use the feathers you recieved.

This will summon a very slow moving bird.

I found the best technique was to slowly clear and walk the way out. Once out, mount up and move slowly, keep eye on the stupid bird. Head back to Sylvanaar and take the bird to the little horse/girl thing.

This will light the grey question mark up. Quest done.

Once u have ur pet bird, u can fly back, just a bit stop/start thats all.

Daranelle is half deer, half woman so she does stand out a bit. If u go up the path towards the main building, she was stood on the grass, to the right. She did have a grey question mark above her head....NOT the usual yellow one.

No matter how many times I try to do this quest (on my draenei paladin, level 66), using the handful of feathers on the dark purple circle in front of the bird totem does nothing. Said totem being the one recommended by all the coordinates listed in comments here. I've tried disabling addons. I've tried abandoning the quest. Nothing.

DO NOT mount up and fly as the bird will NOT follow you and despawn after a you are 75 yards or more away. You must either walk, or use your mount cautiously.

gather your feathers click them inside circle to get the bird. Run back to the village where you got all the quest. Turn quest into half deer, half human on the right once you come thru the gate. Quest mark will not turn yellow until you get close. Easy quest, just run, don't bother mounting up and the bird will have no trouble keeping up with you

OMG! what a pain in the @$$. i've been sitting here for over an hour, trying to finish this quest and still i'm no closer to where i started. i'm seriously thinking i shouldn't waste my time.

And to help everyone out... the exact coordinates for Daranelle are 37.04/65.67 and there are NO dwarves around her, and the question mark stays gray until your near her with the bird. UGH! what a waste of my idiotic time.

I don't know why nobody's mentioned this befor, but DON'T FLY! After doing summoning ritual in the center of any circle you wil get some small bird - and if you mount on your fly-mount - this bird won't be in time to quest-giver - and "?" mark stay grey.

So you should use your feet instead of fly-mount!

Hope it will help you not to return to summoning circles again and again as i did (first of all, after all of this summoning ritual explosions - i didn't catch any bird at all - returned to the quest-giver driad-kind-of-a-deer-woman - and saw grey "?")

The quest enchantment will vanish if you fly too hight or fast back to Daranelle. In which case you need to redo the rite. xP

Summary of the most useful information I found in the comments:

1. Use the quest item ("Fistful of Feathers") at a summoning circle in the southern Arrakoa village
2. A grey bird will be summoned and follow you around (like a pet) and you'll receive a buff called "Lashh'an Channeling"
3. Do NOT mount to prevent it from bugging / despawning
4. Walk back to Sylvanaar (the Alliance base to the north) with the bird still following you
5. As soon as you come close to the NPC, Daranelle, the quest objective will be completed. She's at the right side of the road as you enter Sylvanaar, after the crossing and hidden behind a small hill if you're walking through the main "gate".

PS: Do not dawdle while the bird is following you, it will despawn after 10 minutes and you'll have to summon it again.

Hi,

I have just done this quest and found that it IS possible to fly out of the circle.

The trick is simply to first fly up a few paces, and then move a few paces at a time, very slowly, and be sure to watch that the bird has caught up. I did not have to fight my way out at all by doing this. Its slow, but a lot faster than having to fight your way out...

The second 'trick' I used to find Daranelle once I was in her village is as follows:
Press 'enter' to 'say'. Then type: /tar Daranelle. Enter again. Now you should see a marker appear on your mini map of where she is.
(From the main road, go through or around the main house where the trader Caoileann stands on the balcony, past Bronwyn and Borgin, exit and turn left (south-ish) at the Sylvanaar Sentinals, and she’s just behind it.)

Quest instructions here are terrible. I gathered all the feathers and went to the circle when I clicked it the bird (Daranelle) appeared and had plenty of time to analyze everything around the area but the quest was not complete. I then repeated that process several times at the other circle and still the quiest did not complete. I started back toward Sylvannaar in the hope that the quest was glitched and would show as complete as I arrived there. IT DID NOT. The map showed that I had to return to the circles in Veil Lashh so I did and again repeated several times at each circle. Each time Daranelle materialized and I gave her time to analyze. No matter what I did the quest objective area remained in the center of Veil Lashh. I eventually gave up and abandoned the quest. Later I noticed the quest explanation point and went to pick it up again. That was when I (by chance) happened to notice that the quest giver was named Daranelle (not in bird form) IGNORE THE MAP the objective location moves from Veil Lashh to Sylvannaar but the map does not reflect it.

I thought the quest was bugged too...

This is really simple.

1) Use the Fistful of Feathers at a summoning circle in the southern Arrakoa village, one of the two.

Note that at this point the quest giver will still appear as grey, and the quest unfinished, it's normal

2) Don't use any mount (important) and come back to the quest giver, Daranelle.

3) She will still appear grey until you are just in front of her, very close, then the quest will appear completed. Turning in, profit.

These days there are many quests in WoW that are poorly written, boring, and confusing. This is definitely a contender for one of the worst.

Just did this quest, and I had no problems whatsoever flying back to the village, the bird stayed with me.

As mentioned by other posters, once you've used the feathers on a circle (wait for the animation to end), you have to return to Daranelle in Sylvanaar. The quest marker above her head remains gray until you stand right in front of her, at which point it turns yellow and you can turn in the quest.

I don't have the 280% riding on that character yet, though, so speed might be a problem if you're 70+ and have bought artisan riding.

To be crystal clear ...use the feathers at one circle...it summons the bird and you do not need to do the other circle then. Run (not fly or you will lose the bird) back to the camp THO the quest shows up as tho you have not done enough to turn the quest in. As soon as you get near to the NPC Daranelle the yellow question mark pops up and you can turn it in.

After several tests, I found that you can still mount/fly with the 10min buff before you get close to the village. Then you have to walk in to the npc, or the buff will disappear.
