The Vials are found in two 25 Man Instances.
Tempest Keep - The Eye
To get attuned you must (through a quest chain):
-Complete Steam Vault Heroic Mode.
-Complete Arcatraz Heroic Mode.
-Complete Shadow Labyrinth Heroic Mode.
-Complete Shattered Halls Heroic Mode.

And
Coilfang Reservoir - The Serpentshrine Cavern
To get attuned you must (through a quest chain):
-Complete Slave Pens Heroic Mode.
-Complete Karazhan and Gruul's Lair.

Can anybody confirm what quest line is required for completing Steam Vault on Heroic Mode.

I've so far found that Steam Vault is not needed, and yet instead killing of Magtheridon.

Lady Vashj has dropped 4x Vashj's Vial Remnant on the first kill. So this item is not similar too other quest items which everybody gets in the raid. Although it's more likely to be a bug.

Drak's Blood is green and since a patch way back when it drops for everyone in the raid.

Inaccurate, the Blood of the Black Dragon Champion always drops, however, you would be correct if you said it didn't used to.

Drak's blood is white, it drops for everyone on the quest, and it has for awhile now.

"Blood of the Black Dragon Champion is now a multi-drop quest item. Everyone on their respective faction's quest will be able to loot the blood."

Turning in this quest will place you at friendly reputation with Scales of Sand, allowing you to choose the following rings (just like the Violet Eye rep rings):

Each reputation level (honored, revered, exalted) earned enables you to return to Soridormi for an upgrade.

It is unknown at this time whether or not the rings are interchangeable, so do make sure you don't choose the wrong one.

Also, does the quest place you at friendly, or does it simply award 3k rep?
As in: should you complete the quest in 2.4 before starting MH/BT to use it maximally, or can you save it for revered and still get 3k exp?

To get the rings you need to complete this quest which requires you to kill Vashj and Kael, both of which require no attunment anymore and therefore you only need to complete this quest in order to get your sexy ring.

Just got to kill Kael`theas yesterday in a merged raid whit 3 guilds (vashj/kael raid). After 4th try I got to exsperience 1 of the best kills in wow.

Something very epic about Kael`theas even if hes nerfed version now days. I strongly encourrage everyone who can to try get him before Wotlk. You will love floating around in the air, seing kaeltheas going down slowly after every gravity faces thingies :)

I simply amased how great the figth is, and it needs a good level of focus =) Tried the figth a while back before it was nerfed abit, and I must say hes gotten easyere now. But still need a strong raid, and good tanks.

Blizzard will possibely awards acivemenets for peopel completing the quest in Wotlk.

As of 3.0.2 you no longer get a title for the quest, but several guildies were able to get it after the patch.

Which leads me to believe that you are able to get the title if you had the quest in your log pre-patch.

yes, i shared it with about 20 some odd people in the 25 man SSC run right before Vashj. It was a teary moment.

After 3.0.3 it seems that old version of the quest cannot be shared and that you can't have both versions of the quest at the same time.

I hope there were no changes on BT questline but I won't be suprised if tiltes are no longer obtainable after 3.0.3.

I have one quest with a grayed out "Share quest" button and one quest that I still can share, and I'm trying to figure out which quest to keep, and the one I can safely abandon.

Most likely the grayed out quest would be the one that still awards the title, but if would be great if someone that has ingame experience of this could post.

Don't bother asking a GM about this, they are most likely going to remove the old quest from you.

I finish this quest today but the reward is 13g 20s. When I hand in I got no tittle (make me %^&* off because is old quest). I open a ticket and ask gm he said I need to do Entry to Black Temple quest line. I was like wtf? do you really need to do that in old day?

You -can- still earn this title. I had my Ruse of the Ashtongue and Vial of Eternity quests from pre-wrath. I completed the Vials and the BT attunement up to A distraction for Akama and received my title on 2/22/09.

Found someone today with Pre 2.4.3 quest, He could not share it with me. I was able to have to post nerf Vials quest shared with me.

Just to clarify how to get the Hand of A'dal title. First of all, and most importantly, you need to have the pre-patch 2.4 version of the The Vials of Eternity quest (ID 10445) either completed or already in your log. If you have the post-patch version of the quest (ID 13432), you cannot now get the title. There are addons that allow you to check the quest ID of those in your log.

Secondly, you need to complete the A Distraction for Akama quest. This is part of the now defunct Black Temple attunement chain that begins with Tablets of Baa'ri (available in both Aldor and Scryer flavours) and continues with The Secret Compromised.

I just completed the quest last night. I had the quest since forever (way before patch 3.0.2) and I got the title and FoS anyways. I had 1 vial already pre-wotlk (the SSC one), maybe that had something to do with it.

I was quite suprized to get the title, because I thought it was completly removed after 3.0.2.

ok so im a little confused

i had the quest Vials of Eternity way before the patch and never deleted it thinking i could actually some day do the quest
EDIT: i also still have the quest in my log, just downed vashj today and started thinking about the title

as for the other quest chain, im pretty sure i got up to about The Warden's Cage (maybe a little further) and stopped. i dont have any of those quests in my log

will i still be able to get the quest?

Several people in my guild had this quest from pre-3.0, completed it as well as the BT attunement chain, but didn't get the title. Was anyone that got it post-wrath level 80 upon completion? or was it done before 80, because i've heard a rumor that it is also level restricted.

*siiiiiiiigh* All that makes me wish I had started playing wow a lot longer ago than I did.... I wish they had like... a separate realm where everything is exactly as it was since the release of world of warcraft, from lvl 1 to 80... I'd pay for that.

Neither, you can't get it anymore if you don't have the old version of the quest. Did you not read any of the other comments?

I got the title on 11/29/09, so the old quest requirement is still true (all I needed was Kael's vial).

Also, don't forget that Faction/Race Changes purge your quest log, so if you still have this version of the quest on your questlog, consider finishing it before changing your Faction/Race or else you'll lose your chance at the title!

As of last night (10/03/2010) you can still receive the Hand of A'dal title if you have the unsharable version of this quest. Finally got it after years.

As of 4.0.1 the old version of the quest no longer rewards the title. I've kept the quest for ages (I'm sure it's the old one, because it was not sharable), and when I finally decided to complete it, I didn't get the title. I'm a little angry at myself for not completing it sooner. :(

UPDATE: I've talked to one of the GMs. He said, that I was missing the A Distraction for Akama part. I probably didn't do it, because that toon was an alt at the time. It has both a new and an old version like this quest and the old version is required, so it wouldn't help, if I did the new version. Oh, well... :P So this means you can still get the title if you have done the old version of these two quests.

Totally just earned the title today, even post 4.0.3. Check out Krynnyth of Scilla.

All I had to do was finish out the Vials of Eternity quest (10445) that I still had. I had not even picked up the quest from the NPC after Kara'thress (meaning had not killed Al'ar, Winterchill, etc) - I did all of that this past week.

Finished 'Distraction for Akama" (13429, the new one), and was awarded the title.

If this quest line is no longer available with in the game why is it still given by the NPC in Caverns of Time? I just took the quest. It would seem Blizzard would remove a dead quest.

Probably not useful for anyone, but, I did this quest (yes, the 10445, "old" version), today on 6/15/2015 on a level 90, and did not receive the title. It looks like, even if you have the old quest, you can no longer in any fashion get the title.

WARNING!: Using a character boost WIPES YOUR QUEST LOG! I logged into an old toon, discovered I had the original Vials quest still in her log (questid 10445). I used my Legion level 100 character boost on her, and it was GONE. I have a ticket in, cross your fingers for me. Will update once I hear from a GM.

Edit: tdlr: I'm boned, it's gone forever. :(

"I've been taking a look into this for you by looking over the quest in every possible aspect. I'm afraid there is nothing to show us the previously obtained quests, especially if picked up a long time ago.

Our logs last around 2-3 months which means we wouldn't of been able to verify the pickup time of this.
When the boost was applied, it would indeed of meant all quests were wiped but we have no confirmation on what quests were wiped during this process either.

I'm really sorry about this but from a Game Master standpoint - we sadly have no way of verifying this for you :("

I've had this quest in my warlock's quest log since 2009. After completing the pre-patch Vials of Eternity quest, and then doing the Black Temple attunement quest chain(which I had never touched before 2016) I was still able to get the title and become the (current) World Last Hand of A'dal.

So if you have the original, pre patch quest in your quest log, keep your hopes alive, because this title is still obtainable. After waiting 7 years to get this title(Warlock is still level 70, on a server I eventually abandoned) I won't be wearing anything else.

This quest is still available...at least it was for me. I went into the Caverns of Time to do an old dungeon and saw a Yellow ! mark. Picked it up and it was this quest. Not sure why its marked that its no longer available.

Earned July 10th, 2018. Had an old account restored and ended up having the original quest in the log. To add I did not have "The secret compromised" completed nor the other quests some comments said were required to achieve the title. Took 2 weeks for lockouts but was able to do every quest just fine on a 70 rogue. GL friends there is still hope if you have old banned accounts, blizzard is really helpful on restoring them these days:)

Soridormi at Caverns of Time wants you to retrieve Vashj's Vial Remnant from Lady Vashj at Coilfang Reservoir and Kael's Vial Remnant from Kael'thas Sunstrider at Tempest Keep.

Description

Seven vials were drawn from the Well of Eternity by Illidan. He poured three into the lake on top of Mount Hyjal and a second Well of Eternity was created. For years the rest were believed lost.

With the opening of the Dark Portal, we've come to know that he gave one each to his lieutenants Kael'thas and Vashj. Retrieve what remains of them; we will need them as foci to open a gateway to any events tied to Mount Hyjal, recent or ancient. The outcome of the Battle of Mount Hyjal must be preserved.
