Wayy better than grinding for beads. Higher drop rate and lower lvl mobs(usually).

lower level is rubbish, the mobs in nagrand who drop the beads are level 63, 64 and 65... those are lower than the guys of 67 and 68 here.

droprate is higher though. so at 70 you would be better off here.

I honestly see little to no benefit in doing this quest over say... the ogre war bead quest in Nagrand... that one will give you rep with a major city as well as the beads to turn in for consortium rep... though I do suppose the beads have a smaller drop rate, this kills 2 birds with one stone.

The Jailor is a relatively low spawn rate mob, so he's honestly not worth "farming" so much as killing everything in the area, and him if you see him. The Keys are also a good thing to save till exalted (very low drop rate), whereas these are in an almost over abundance, so their a good choice to farm to exalted.

My drop rate for the insignias has consistently sucked over the past two months. I farm for these at The Heap, and I'm lucky to get better than a 33% drop rate. Typical is 20%. I get a much better drop rate on the warbeads in Nagrand.

It all depends on what you are going for. If you just want strictly Consortium rep, then grind the Heap in netherstorm for these insignias, they also drop a fair amount of netherweave for bandages/tailoring along with some pretty good amounts of silver. If you want Consortium rep, Kurenai rep, plus netherweave for bandages/tailoring, as well as crystal powder to turn-ins for the research tokens (say going for the riding war talbuk: http://www.wowhead.com/?item=29228) then farm the ogres in Nagrand. True the drop rate on the beads isn't the best, but as said previously, they are lower level, easier to kill, and you gain three things at once. Hope this

I tried grinding for beads on the ogres last nite and ended up with 180+ netherweave, 83 Runecloth, 3 greens and 80 beads in 65 minutes. Thats 2000 rep.

Today I decided to do Zaxxis to test the higher drop rate. I ended up with 127 Netherweave, 1 green, 91 zaxxis insignia and 5 prison keys in 65 minutes. Thats 3500 rep.

So to me in only one trial at each, the Zaxxis drop rate and possibility of keys made it a much better choice for straight rep, but the ogres definately balanced out the time with the additional amount of cloths. Plus I had no competition for the ogres, I still ran Zaxxis without having to search for mobs but there were 2 other people farming there.

This is definately the best way for a Protection Paladin to get reputation with the Consortium. By doing the Warbeads quest, you'll have a big chance of getting a caster or two on you.

With this quest, you can just run to the area south of Area 52, and aggro as many mobs as you think you can handle.... Having the trinket from Shattered Halls works perfectly for this. On my Paladin, I could grab 10-15 before I had too many on me to keep running away, granting 5-10 Insignias every 5 minute

this is the best consortium rep quest to focus on because the other conrtium rep quest about the etherium prison key can be done at the same time because the ethereals that drop the insignias also drop the prison key from time to time at the end of a grind session i had 510 insignias and 30 prison keys

I've found (as a 90 hunter farming for a transmog set) that the spawn times on the Zaxxis mobs is incredibly low, and I can just run in circles around the Heap. I've only had to wait for spawns once, and that was only like a 30 second wait before almost the entire area was reset.
