During this setp, I couldn't turn in the completed quest since the spirit didn't appear for me (it was there for 2 other members of my group).

See my comment in this quest for a similir behavior to another quest I had to turn back outside of the Crypts instance:

Yes, it seems to be entirely random whether or not the spirit will actually show for any given player.

I, myself, have completed four Auchenai Crypts runs, with no luck on getting the NPC to actually appear for me.

I've been told by three different GM's to delete my interface / WTF folders, and to reload my interface - this does not work.

I did the run (hunter) with a rogue on the same quest and the NPC appeared for us no problem.

There is a quest "I see dead Draenei" also available here. Upon completion, you're able to see, well, dead Draenei. There's an armorsmith directly outside of Auchenai that you'll see, so I'm guessing this missing NPC is the same thing. Try completing that chain before this. I haven't completed either yet, so I'll post back and see if it "fixes" it for me

I am a tauren hunter and my group had absolutely no problem getting the NPC to spawn to finish the quest :)

As D'ore is in fact dead, I am 99% sure you need to do the quest that starts from Hai'lei/Ramdor the Mad outside Auchenai Crypts up to the point where you drink a potion that makes you see dead spirits in order to see D'ore.

I completed AC many, many times and never saw D'ore spawn until AFTER I had completed that quest chain.

Does anyone know if downing the boss on Heroic mode will still count for the quest?

D'ore will spawn after you've killed the 2nd boss in Crypts. At least it did for me, probably you'll have to kill the shade he summons aswell.

Unfortunately this is the first and seems to be only quest in the chain that cannot be soloed (at the level that the quest was designed for)

I solo'd this on my 80 Ele shaman, you don't need blink or other tricks to avoid all of the trash and the first boss if you are 80. Exarch isn't too bad, blew all cd's and he went down.

80 druid here. I stealthed to the end and killed him in normal mode. D'ore came out but I didn't get credit for his death. I also picked up "Everything will be alright" and I didn't get credit for his death fro that quest either. Does it have to be in Heroic? Or is there an item I'm missing? Does the shadowy guy have to die before him?

If you are like me going for the Nagrand Slam achievement. Dont forget to pick up Everything Will Be Alright when its actually about to kill same boss.

And as a level 80 you can sneak past everything untill last boss if just going for achievement and the quests: Auchindoun... and Everything Will Be Alright

Right after you have killed the last boss for the quest ,D'ore(Handle in the quest to him) should spawn infront of you so have patient and dont leave the instance.

This may sound stupid, but D'ore is not a human or any other humanoid like. He's the big shiny thing that i almost missed and was planning to re-run >_<

If D'ore appears but you can't turn it in, then just reload ui and you should be able to.

Travel to the Auchenai Crypts in the Bone Wastes of Terokkar Forest and slay Exarch Maladaar to free the spirit of D'ore.

Description

Deep within the Auchenai Crypts is a tomb: A tomb unlike any that exists on this shattered realm. It was from this tomb, the first tomb, that the vast mausoleum of Auchindoun was born.

You must venture to the Auchenai Crypts of Auchindoun and find this tomb. Slay the guardian of the crypt to release the captive spirit within. The spirit holds the key...
