Tons of these mobs in the cave to the south. I suggest doing this with A Damp Dark Place( http://www.wowhead.com/?quest=9788 ) and Safeguarding the Watchers ( http://www.wowhead.com/?quest=9894 ).

I just did this as a 63 Holy paladin, regular gear.
I found it ridiculously easy, I even aggroed 4 of them and managed to survive, without using pots/bubble/lay on hands...
Note that theese mobs have a heal, but it's barely noticeable, it's a rejuvenation spell but you hardly notice and difference in their hitpoints.

As noted before, the rewards are pretty good since you can socket them.

To unlock this quest with Lauranna, you need to first complete Ikeyen's quest (http://www.wowhead.com/?quest=9747). The chief fellow is at the top of the building to the Southmost of the Umbrafen village.

The mobs inside the cave are ideal for grinding , with low health , high density , small aggro range and low attack.

The sporeloks don't seem to need saving... I hated doing this quest, since the small spore guys killed nearly all marsh men.

''Unidentified plant'' Drops from every Mob in Zangarmarsh. You just do any quest you have and at some point u will have collected 10 that you need... You really do not have to care about that q much :)

The rewards from this quest are now pretty awesome if you put in Northrend green gems, since sockets are not limited in terms of what gems they accept. For example, a Bright Bloodstone, Wicked Huge Citrine and a Balanced Shadow Crystal in the Circle's Stalwart Helm would add:

+48 attack power
+6 crit rating
+9 stamina

while also getting the +4 strength socket bonus. That makes it just about competitive with blue quest rewards from Netherstorm like X-52 Technician's Helm, although blue instance drops will mostly have sockets and so keep their edge.

Just a handy hint, when you enter the cave and hit the area where you can go left or right, just dropped down straight. The boss is in the middle of the cave at the lowest level and the mobs have a small enough aggro range with little damage so you can take out the one or two that attack you when you land. The two paths take a while to get to him and you might deal with respawns on the way out.

Kill the boss first then grind your way out and you should have all the quests done for that area.

Pretty awesome choice of quest rewards for such an easy and early quest, considering the choice of gems available in WOTLK. Ignore the socket bonusses - they're not that amazing - just shoehorn three of the green stat gems of your choice into it and it'll last you quite a while.

I was ecstatic when I saw three sockets into the reward gear, but since I am an Alt Clothie, wearing the Bind to account chest, I had to choose the item of the most sell value. I wish Blizz would make it so that chest could be turned into a cloth Helmet... But since I'm still leveling, a few stats wont make a difference until I am capped.

The items rewarded from this quest can be socketed with WotLK-era gems, which can make them very worthwhile upgrades. Unfortunately Cataclysm gems have a minimum gear ilevel requirement and so can't be used with these items.

This quest seems to be bugged for me in 5.3, I'm not getting credit for killing them. Also some of the sporeloks were attacking me even though I can't fight them back.

I ran into an odd bug with this quest in 5.3, it wasn't giving me credit for killing them even though I was able to turn in the quest at the end. It was still showing 0/10 and the question mark on the quest giver was still grayed out. Seems to be a UI bug of some sort.

As a Horde Mage I was unfriendly with Sporegar when I started the quest. I kept having a problem losing health and dying until I dismissed my pet. If you are unfriendly with Sporegar and have a pet the Sporeloks will attack you (unlimited range) and you can not do anything about it but die and resurrect and dismiss your pet. Otherwise they will kill you over and over.

I did this quest with my Unholy Death Knight and was constantly being rooted while running around in this cave and it almost killed me.

I ended up dismissing my Ghoul and, for whatever reason, I stopped being attacked. My advice, if you head in there and you're not Friendly it would be worth dismissing your Ghoul/Pet.

(It also took me a while to figure out how to Dismiss. Right click on their portrait and click Dismiss :P )

This quest is seriously bugged for classes that use a pet. If you have a pet summoned while inside the cave, you will constantly get dazed and stunned until you die.

I have entered a bug report and spoken to a GM. The GM said its been known about for over a year, and to dismiss your pet. This tells me that Blizzard aren't actually interested in fixing it.

Just did this quest today - hunter. Dismissed pet and still died a couple of times with the "daze" sickness effect.

1. Saving the Sporeloks
• Accept the quest, Saving the Sporeloks, from Lauranna Thar'well at coords 80.2, 64.2 (Cenarion Refuge).
• Travel south to the area of a cave located at 74.7, 91.5.
• Kill 10 Marsh Dredger and 10 Marsh Lurker (located inside and outside of the cave at 74.7, 91.5).
• Travel north, back to Cenarion Refuge, to coords 80.2, 64.2.
• Turn in the quest to Lauranna Thar'well.

Saving the Sporeloks

Slay 10 Marsh Dredgers and 10 Marsh Lurkers, and then return to Lauranna Thar'well at the Cenarion Refuge in Zangarmarsh.

Description

Ikeyen's been telling me stories about what happened to him down in those caves and I think it's just awful!

You know, maybe we should do something to help out those poor sporeloks. Ikeyen says that they live there in the Funggor Cavern, but that the marsh beasts have recently invaded.

Why don't you go down there and see if you can clear some of those marsh beasts out? It's just to the southwest.
