Apparently, the HoT buff fades as soon as the bubble breaks. That greatly lowers Life Cocoon's value in a raid environment.

Periodic healing here refers to both actual heal-over-time effects and channeled heals.

Tests in 5.4.1:
Works with: Enveloping Mist, Renewing Mist, Soothing Mist, Cannibalize, Gift of the Naaru.
Does not affect: Rushing Jade Wind, Spinning Crane Kick, Soothing Mist cast by Summon Jade Serpent Statue.

The Cocoon will last long enough to allow you to bubble hearth out of a raid environment, if you use it on yourself. The absorb is strong enough to prevent you from taking damage - and breaking your Hearthstone channel - during most mild raid AoEs.
