Rate of completion feels off for this quest making it mind numbing / annoying.
The drop rate is appropriate for the difficulty of the mob, but usually that means densely populated for aoe.
Should either up the difficulty of the mob and make it guaranteed drop, or 2-3x the number of these mobs.

The quest item is dropped by Slimy Whelk and Redolent Whelk mobs. Both mobs have only 205k health, but the Redolent Whelk mob has a shield on it. I had much better drop rates on the Redolent Whelks compared to the Slimy ones (dropped one of the quest item every 1-3 mobs compared to 4-5 mob kills for the slimy ones). I didn't see any other spots on the map to try, just the one largish area highlighted by the quest tracker, and the mobs are fairly spread out, but abundant.

Edit: I didn't test it, but there are "Prismatic Snailette" mobs in the cave at /way 62.53, 38.95. It's possible they drop the item (health is only 61k, might be like the frog cave in Waking Shores for the prior JC weekly). Will update next week when I test it or someone reply to advise if these have the item.

Most MOB dense area (more snails than you likely need to complete in under 3 minutes) for this quest area I've found is the following: /way #2133 60.46, 48.57 Cephalo-crystalization

If Rolie Polie Molie is up during the time you're attempting this quest, it may be wise to come back when it's not as the snails will constantly evade.

In regards to droprates, let me put it this way: I finished Shell Corporation before I got all ten whelkshell crystals (and I had 2 before I triggered the world quest)

yes this is the best spot, just go as far out as you can without resetting agrro and nuke em down, took me 4 minutes on frost mage.
