You need to use your dragonriding ability 'Whirling Surge' into the purple drakes flying above you to receive credit for this quest.

When i did this today on my rogue, i was able to use the ballistas to shoot down dragons for credit, going through on my lock, i cant even interact with the ballistas

If you're able to line them up you can hit more than one Nightflame in a single surge.

Spent ages trying to figure this out.

Then realised Whirling Surge is a Dragon Riding ability!

Mounted up, flew up into the air, cast the skill and whoosh! Did all 4 at once. :-)

You need to hit the dragons above with Whirling Surge.

For me, this Dragonriding ability wasn’t available from the spellbook or on other drakes rather than the Highland Drake.

Using it, I could easily complete the quest.

Quests like this confuse some of us too much, including me. They make me not want to play the game, because I have to come here to WoWHead and read a comment on how to do it instead of just doing it.
