Joined a raid group through the group finder to down this boss today. No credit was given to this quest upon Mor'geth's defeat.

UPDATE: Joined a different group, tried again, got credit this time. Not sure what's causing this difficulty in getting credit for the quest, but my only available suggestion is to just try, try again with different groups in the group finder for the time being if you don't get credit the first time.

This might be the daftest question ever asked but how do you get to this guy? It's packed with elites - did I miss something earlier to make things easier?

Unlike others who didn't receive credit at all, I received credit from the kill so that the quest tracker displays 1/1 Mor'geth slain, but the quest does not autocomplete. Throughout the fight, the server was extremely laggy for everyone in the raid of 40, but I don't know if that mattered.

For those battling this very tough and bugged world boss and having issues with lost Stygia, I have a suggestion. I know death is a very real possibility in both approaching and battling this mob. In the approach, that Stygia is recoverable, but in the boss fight, both times I've died there has been no corpse to loot my lost Stygia back and it cost me around 13K Stygia so far.

An idea came to me. In fact I almost hesitate to mention it as I feel if Blizz gets wind of it, it might be changed, but here it is.

Duchess Mynx and Venari both sell items for Stygia. When you buy them you have 1 hour and 59 minutes to return them for a full refund. So, visit one or the other, soak off all your Stygia and then you have basically 2 hours to go get you Mor'geth kill. Then return and sell the items back to the vendor. Thus preventing any lost Stygia.

I myself did this buying Korthian Armaments (1000 Stygia each) from Mynx... just make sure you have enough bag space to exhaust your Stygia. I then realized maybe Venari might have some more expensive things to buy and sell back so will check him next time.

Just keep in mind you have a 2 hour window of opportunity this way.

Hope this helps a bit until Blizz fixes the no corpse issue on this Boss.

I got to this boss and joined a raid group, but I was out of phase with everyone in the raid and I couldn't see the boss. Is it behind some sort of lock? Do I have to complete something to be able to fight him?

I have been using a left hand side shortcut. with this I can totally by pass all elites and get to the boss without aggroing anything. If you follow the main path into the beastwarrens until you get to /way 57.86 62.92. there is a slope to your left, you can go up that all the way to the top /way 60.16 59.19. jump off the ledge to the Blue ground below, follow that up to the edge /way 61.38 54.41. and jump down again to more Blue stuff go to /way 63.07 52.50. and you will be able to see the platform that Morgeth is on. you can then goblin glide from anywhere along that ledge edge to his platform. I find /way 62.98 46.22. best for hight.

You should try the Comfortable Rider's Barding to get there. Helps a lot but won't guarantee you won't die somewhere. It's a trade off in travel speed compared to the other mount enhancement item, but what good is speed if you're going to be dazed anyway by elites or so?. I've run solo to the boss with weaker classes and have been lucky enough. Most of the time I get there fine.

It's been a while since I attempted to tackle Mor'geth with the hope to get some sweet loot. I was level 215 then and of course in a group. Practically everybody died and when I stumbled back from the graveyard to collect at least some loot since the boss was killed in the meantime, I got nothing.
Now, at level 240 and the ability to kill NPCs close to 200k, I thought I try again: got in a group but had to find my way there again through major NPCs. This time, I realized that when you think, you can tackle just one NPC, you can be certain that in a very short time, a whole bunch more NPCs appear and go after you. The initial one was 189k. Together with the other ones, I had to battle over 1 million. At this point, it became clear, that this was on purpose by Blizzard. This is not meant to be a (barely) doable fight with nice rewards, but a middle finger by some closet developers who get a kick out of hapless players who think they can succeed. Don't get me wrong, with a well-organized group, you might get it done, but again, the loot is abysmal.
My lesson here is simple: Don't fall for this sad trap, just don't go there, and follow some beautiful mythic+ fight and/or heroic raids, and revel in the occasional gear upgrade.

If you don't get credit after the kill, leave your raid. The moment it puts you back on your server (assuming LFG took you to a different one), the quest will auto complete.

Sometimes I forget to check and HS before leaving the raid, so the quest won't complete. In that case you'll have to go back to the boss, approach him without being in a group and the quest will instantly complete.

How to get to Desmotaeron and Mor'geth:

You can use the Animaflow teleporter at Ve'nari.
If you haven't got the flight point to Desmotaeron yet,
you can use a stopover at perdition hold. From there
you can use the same teleporter to continue to Desmotaeron.

Getting through those elites is a lot easier when you're doing the chain of quests that includes Gates of the Damned since you'll have Thrall and Draka with you to help you fight.
