accept the quest
leave The Ring by using Mushroom to Forest's Edge /way 43,0, 61,3
loot 6x Leafy Loam from Pile of Loam on the floor
use the near Mushroom Ring Teleport to The Ring /way 65,7, 60,2
return the quest

When I came to the quest area it was infested with large groups of fast spawning mobs. I won't come back without a group or raid gear I guess....
Later I discovered the area is used for a fly-and-throw-bombs world quest It's Raining Sparkles, so maybe it's not meant to be so hard.

In addition to what troelala mentioned about the world quest It's Raining Sparkles, the area is zoned and empty if you are on the Fae covenant, Bwonsamdi quest line: Gathering the Hunt.
You'll have to fully complete the rest of the quest line to kill Dambala and report to the Queen for the zone to return to normal.
It took a hot second to figure that out since I was on the first step of the Gathering the Hunt quest and it was nowhere near Tirna Noch. >.o

Doable solo as cloth wearer, just take your time and be careful. Soil piles are shared by Alliance and Horde, so if anyone else shows up it gets much easier.

Warning: this quest can be incredibly annoying, even without the bugs other commenters have referred to.
The loam seems rare and is relatively hard to spot...only Blizzard could make a fetch quest for dirt, and make the dirt 'rare'!
The loam coords in an earlier comment are helpful, but they don't seem to consistently spawn at those locations.
With gear, the hostile drust are no more than annoyance, but why Blizzard why?

Description

I'm a simple mushroom with simple pleasures, <name>. And what's simpler than a nice, hearty meal?

Don't look so surprised. I need to eat just like anyone else! How else do you think I grew so big? Nice, tasty compost, that's how!

Back in my day, I had the pick of Ardenweald for where to feed. Now, not so much.

I've had a hankering for some of the loam that used to be around Tirna Noch. I haven't had shoots out there in a long time. Could you bring me some?
