When you start the quest, he will start throwing the ingredients on the floor. The yellow arrows and green circles indicate where they will land. You are supposed to catch them by running into the circles before they land, and then take them to the Makeshift Mortar over by the cauldron.

Don't worry if you cannot catch all of them. These will get increasingly more difficult to catch and he will just keep throwing the same ingredients until you have enough.

You can keep track of how many you have caught by taking them over to the Makeshift Mortar after each round.

This quest is currently bugged, you cannot acquire the third ingredient.

I don't know how (or if) you're expected to catch 10 of the thorns in one go. I could only get 3, max. Maybe if you have a speed increase, you can get more, but I did not.

EDIT: Maybe people are downvoting this because they thought I thought you need to get 10 all in one go? No, that's not the case. But the fact that the entire process repeats, and you have to do it multiple times to get 10, is dumb.

as of today you dont have to catch every item at one time, take what u catch to motor turn in and repeat till done each item.

This is officially the worst "build your item/recipe" style quest to date. There have been a few but this trumps it. Tubbin's throws all the items in the air and you have to catch them before they land and he does at least keep repeating until you have finished each step; fun in theory but when you can only collect one or two at a time it quickly gets annoying to both do the task and hear him tell you what it is. I'm happy Blizzard tried to switch it up a little but throwing all the items at once is a little ridiculous.

Phasing on this quest is currently bugging out. I started off alone after accepting the quest and upon adding the first ingredients, all the other people doing the quest appeared. It makes completing it kind of a pain because everyone is vying for the ingredients. Tubbins does keep flinging them until you get enough to complete whatever step you're on, but if there's a lot of people around trying to complete the same step it can take a while.

2 Sign Your Own Death Warrant	Find 4 Blank Parchment contained in Forbidden Research Documents and find Venthyr Calligraphy Set is drop from mobs. After you need to find Forged Letter of Condemnation 38 68.7 I pick answers 1 - 1 - 1- 1 - 3 xD.
3 Chasing Madness	Follow Lost Sybille then speak with Theotar
4 My Terrible Morning	Do this quest together with quest=57428] and quest=57427]. Slay Marquis Pummeler 33.8 60.4
5 Theotar's Mission	Find 8 Scorched Plank and 8 Regal Cloth Scrap. search banners and scrap as well Regal Cloth Scrap is droping from mobs
6 Unbearable Light	Kill 12 ash ghouls. after finish 3 quest you will get new one NPC is following you.
7 Lost in the Desiccation	Follow Lost Sybille to find the way to Theotar's hideout.
8 Tubbins's Tea	To start do a tea speak with Tubbins the ingredients will be thrown into the air, you must catch and bring them back to Makeshift Mortar. All you will see with arrows on ground. Then use Dented Teapot is in corner and move to cauldron reaction start automatic.
9 An Uneventful Stroll	Speak with Theotar and escort him.
10 Into the Light	Use Elevator 30.4 47.4 and find Breakfist.
11 Securing Sinfall	Kill mobs to 100 % ( i pick to many and i die in first time xD ) then slay Grand Monitor Rorok 29.3 42.6 after redirect Scorching Mirror enter buldin with was behind Grand Monitor Rorok and go on top. Return quest to Theotar 29.8 42.3

Dear Blizzard,

I applaud you for trying to come up with a different take on an old quest style dating back to Wrath of the Lich King, which you previously also tried to mess with in Legion (involving jumping on an area filled with grapes to make wine). It is good to see you're willing to try new things.

Dear Blizzard,

This is a terrible version of the changes to the existing quest style, I pray to god you don't try this in the future. Your ancient engine does not handle vertical shifts well. We saw that in Legion with the alterations made there. It worked in Mechagon because items fell from a great height and it was clear where they would land. These are not nearly so high, and the detection is complete poop. Don't do this. It is a gimmick in this instance.

Okay, this was a nightmare. To make this a little clearer, stand in the green circles and catch all the ingredients. Then Gubbins will say it needs liquid shadow added. I had to go to Pandaria to the Vale of Eternal Blossoms to get the liquid shadow. Had to kill many prideful things before they would drop it. You then come back and talk to Gubbins again. he will tell you to get the teapot which is behind him on the fire. Take the teapot to The cauldron and it will automatically pour in as a red stream. It took me hours to get all this straight, including having to go back for another liquid shadow, because I lost it somewhere on the first trip. Hope this helps!

This is a perfect example of a quest that SHOULD be fun, but they made it *!@#.

The part which should be the fun gameplay, trying to catch all the parts, is completely nullified by the fact that he throws stuff you cannot possibly collect. Turning the quest from a fun diversion to basically "sit and wait".

Yeah, standing in front of this guy, everything went over my head and I didn't see any of what's going on. I had no indication of what I was supposed to be doing.

My guess is this quest wasn't meant to be designed this way. The first ingredients are spread across in time for you to get all 3 that are needed. But others (and sometimes randomly) are thrown at exactly the same time, making it impossible to get many.

I'm guessing they were all meant to be like the first ingredients.

I swear this quest was made by a 3-year-old who snickers at the sheer impossibility of players being unable catch 5 different items that land simultaneously, and falls out of their chair when the player has to do it again.

Designing a quest so that the player has no chance of completing multiple stages the first time is bound to frustrate people. If there was any possibility of actually being able to catch all of the necessary items in each stage without having to do it in multiple passes, this quest might at least be considered challenging. Then add an achievement for anyone who can do it in a single pass and the comments here might be completely different, except that it's still a dumb mechanic for a pointless "busy" quest, so maybe not.

The "concoct something" quests weren't fun to begin with, there was no need to make another, and there certainly was no cause to make it worse.

I don't understand why everyone is crying about this quest, it really takes no more than 3-4 minutes and it gives you multiple chances to catch the ingredients. If you had only 1 chance to catch a full stack of ingredients then it would be annoying, currently it's really not that bad.

Players tell Tubbins: "I'll help you make the tea for Theotar."
Tubbins briefly speaks to Gubbins before starting to toss ingredients for the player to catch.

Tubbins says: You rest! Tubbins make tea.

Gubbins says: Tea make Theotar happy...
Gubbins says: I like happy!

Tubbins says: Think hard, Tubbins... recipe was...

Tubbins says: Three parts smelly stuff!
Tubbins says: Four parts rank rocks!
Tubbins says: Two parts burny bumps!
Tubbins says: One part wicked wood!
Tubbins says: All-fingers parts prickly pokers!

This quest is now broken. The markers do not appear on the ground at all. Thankfully I was close to 60 and was able to skip this rest of this BS, but still, it's a campaign quest, pretty ridiculous it could prevent progress if you couldn't utilize the skip. Small indie company.
