Can just stealth past the trash to the last boss after you wreck your tank if you are a stealth class.

If you happen to drive your tank off a cliff into the lava... all is not lost.
You can 'leave instance group', and start over again by talking to Moira.

Not that it happened to me. I'm sharing this for a friend. Right.

You need to talk to Moira Thaurissan (the quest giver) to say you are ready to go to molten core and you will get sent there and the tank will be in front of you.

You mean the mole machine that you just said we couldn't take directly into Ragnaros' room because it was too dangerous? :/

This was confusing to me. I thought I accidentally drove into the lava, so I immediately restarted. Didn't realize it was scripted until I came here.

Bizarre bug: My combo points (rogue) wouldn't show by my portrait after the tank was destroyed; returned after the instance.

-do this before it'll crash the 2nd time.

I kept falling down the earth and blue sky until I did this.

OK - I found this quest a little confusing...having run MC literally hundreds of times over the years, I made some assumptions:

1) The goal would be to kill Ragnaros
2) You'd need to navigate through the dungeon to get there

Both are WRONG. When you get in there, look at the map, and make your way to the curly-Q path that leads to Ragnaros (there will be a "1" quest indicator where you're heading). Almost immediately after turning into the curly-Q, you encounter a pile of rocks and your tank goes off into the lava. This is not your fault - it's part of the encounter. The dwarf along with you has a dialog that confirms that.

Proceed along the curly-Q and kill the mobs as you go - not difficult, all singles. When you get near the center, you'll see Gezzrok the Keeper, but he's not attackable. This is the guy you need to kill (NOT Ragnaros). To get him to be attackable, go all the way around the curly-Q and when you get to the end, he will charge you.

Kill him, and he'll tell you that you earned your MC Fragment. To loot, click him after the dialog finishes. Look around, you'll see the mole machine - enter it, and it takes you back to the front of the building where Moira (the quest giver) is. Turn in the quest and pick up the next one, which takes you to Firelands.

When you accept, Moira is supposed to interact with Thaelin, but because some cheesehead at Blizz decided to consolidate all the race quests to Aysa Cloudsinger and remove the other NPCs, the conversation is broken, and now Moira brainlessly talks to thin air.

There was NO REASON to do this. Why would you put in time and salary to monkey with things that weren't broken, and as a result, end up breaking them?

While doing this quest with Test Your Strength up from Darkmoon Faire, I discovered that you're pretty much guaranteed to get Grisly Trophys off the mobs here. While in the tank, you must aggro them first, usually by driving past them, then kill them all in one pass with the flamethrower.

As a level 54 rogue in weak gear i found this quest to be impossible. I gave it my all with Evasion, Kidney shot and crimson vial but still failed to kill the npc. Something to do with shadowland squish scaling i guess. Looks like i will have to level up and gear up just to continue unlocking Iron Dwarves. This whole chain from Ready for war through to this has made me loose the will to live.

Definitely don't think that the quest objective is taking you to the old chamber where the core hounds are and the rocks are blocking the path, clearly indicating that you're not supposed to go there. So the tank goes into the lava and you slowly burn to death as a Blood Death Knight with over 1 mil health. Then proceed to do it again, before the one brain cell you have at 8am finally opens the map and goes "Whoop, you're supposed to go to Ragnaros' chamber".

Speak with Moira at the Stormwind Embassy to travel to Molten Core and retrieve a Fragment of the Molten Core.

Description

We'll need a fragment o' the core tae repair the Black Anvil an' who knows how much dark iron tae achieve the necessary purity. Thaelin can figure that part out. In fact, I think he oughta go with ye tae get yerself a Fragment o' the Molten Core. It's too dangerous tae go deep via mole machine, but he's got a hardy tank that can get ye the rest o' the way from the top. Talk tae me when yer ready.
