Quest is currently bugged on Beta on the step "Defeat Athissa and Parjesh". Here is a workaround with pictures:

1. Approach the two Naga in the temple as shown by the quest. A small cutscene will start: Screenshot 1
2. Wait until Athissa is stuck in the middle of the stairs, unattackable: Screenshot 2
3. Move to the quest objective on the map, until a conversation pop-up from Prince Farondis starts (feel free to kill the Naga around, doesn't make a difference): Screenshot 3
4. Now go back to the temple but through the water as in the screenshot! You'll see Athissa still on the stairs, but she is attackable now. Screenshot 4
5. Go around the bridge, *not over it*, and approach Athissa from the trees until she is in attacking range: Screenshot 5
6. Attack her, don't move closer, just kill her and the quest progresses :-)

There is a hole in the world at the top of the steps that lead into the Academy. Quest is still bugged but there is a work around ( see screenshot guide someone else posted). Beware of the hole in the world though, you'll have to start from scratch if you fall through.

I have to say, Farondis is totally a badass! Giving a big ol' @#$%^slap to Azshara was very satisfying to watch. Not to mention his Meteor Storm attack which is awesome.

I was in the middle of doing this quest when I got disconnected. When I reconnected, I was in the graveyard, so I resurrected, and now I am no longer "ghosted" and can't do the quest.

Even tried abandoning the quest, but now can't find the quest giver or a way to become a "ghost" again.

Any thoughts on how to pick this up and continue it?

At the very end when it says "save yourself", just run straight through Azshara to the back of the cave and turn the quest into yourself.

Whatever you do, don't die. You'll have to talk to Farondis again, but the nagas don't drag your body. They just leave it there at the academy's entrance, so nothing progresses.

If you get stuck like I did where I lost track of the two Naga's, even though I ended up finding my body in the cave without being able to complete the quest, you need to go to way point 55.42, 41.18. Once there, just attack the two Naga and the quest will progress.

if the prince dosen't speak when you approach the acadamy, it is glitched.

what worked for me is to abandon the quest, go to the cave at 58.5, 41.5 (thanks Voxi), exit game and accept the quest again.

During this quest you play on Prince Farondis who chasing your character taken by nagas.

Prince Farondis has three spells:

Fireball — single target spell, deals around 250k damage per cast.
Meteor storm — aoe spell, dealing huge damage within it's radius.
Blink — Farondis teleports in small distance.

Just follow naga's killing mobs around, nothing hard there, Hatecoil Slave Pens entrance is at 58.5 41.5 point, on a beach. Have a dialogue with Azshara and turn up the quest to...yourself.

Looking for some help/advice

When I speak to the prince in the cave I get a loading screen that goes halfway thru the loadbar and then freezes up.

I ve tried the following all add ons disabled, lowest graphic settings and scan repair files any other ideas ?

Quest seems to be bugged right now. Get stuck on the loading bar every time after talking to the Prince.

As of 12/11/16 the quest is currently bugged for many players, probably due to an add-on. After you talk to Prince Farondis a loading screen will go to about 60% then WoW will freeze. If you rename your Cache, Interface, and WTF folders to something else (I used .old) you should be able to log back in and do it then close the game, delete the new folders WoW will create and rename them to their old names (Cache, Interface, and WTF). This worked for me.

If you're curious, you can run around Azsuna as Farondis but there won't be any mobs anywhere. I actually made it all the way to Suramar as Farondis, but as soon as the map registered that I was in Suramar I became myself again. Hearthed back to Dalaran and flew back to the Illidari Stand, then ran back to the cave to keep saving myself.

If the Slave Pen is completely empty just press the exit button and talk to Farondis again and approach Azshara again. Fixed it for me.

This was bugged for me in Shadowlands.

I saw Azshara appear in front of the cave, and then the entire game lagged out for about ~10 seconds and I disconnected.

Upon logging back in, I was back in control of my character and the quest was not showing up as actively tracked even though it was. I had to abandon the quest, leave the cave, travel a sizable distance away from the cave in order to make Farondis appear back near the shackles in order to start the quest again.

Hopefully this helps anybody else encountering the same problem.

Seems to be bugged at the moment.

Levelling through legion, hit this quest at lvl 19, Farondis no longer seems to do decent damage, getting slaughtered by mobs in 4/5 hits, impossible to beat Athissa

This quest is possible but it is ridiculously hard right now due to bad scaling on player controlled non player creatures and will take multiple attempts but this is how I was able to complete this quest today. First thing to keep in mind when dealing with the enemies here is that the enemies you kill take a bit to respawn so it key to focus down one enemy at a time knowing that you will die and have to talk to Farondis to start it again to slowly make progress. To kill the three naga on the bridge the first one is the caster since you can usually cast the meteors and spam fireball and kill her before the other two get you. When you talk to Farondis and go back in it should now just be two left cast meteor and spam fireball to kill each one knowing you may only get one dead each attempt. After killing the three on the bridge before you cross the bridge the will be another naga that spawns to the right of the stairs that you will need to kill before trying to follow your body. After the cutscene instead of following go down the area that you just clear and cross the water to behind where they drag your body and get it to trigger the next part of the quest where you defeat Athissa. This is the hardest part since you have to beat her in one life and you will be doing minimal damage to her and she does huge damage to you. The key is to abuse LOS and her bad pathing to avoid all of her attacks. Behind her is a raised broken pathway that you can get on with a gap between a ramplike pathway. Athissa can't go over this gap and will go around so you will need to use this area to lose LOS when she casts spells and jump between the two spots to avoid her coming close since she does have a melee attack. The key is to cast meteors on her and stay out of LOS when her spells cast. when she casts blizzard she channels it so you might be able to get a meteor cast along with several fireball casts before she try's a damaging spell again. It takes a long time since you do so little damage but it is possible to defeat her. After she is defeated swim around the bridge section and go under the second broken one avoiding enemies. There should be a couple naga that you can focus down and also avoid the herd of the small naga. Once you get close it should trigger the dialog between Farondis and Queen Azshara that ends with you attacking her and her leaving. Afterwards when you go into the cave there is a naga that you can solo down and one other to the right of the spike wall opening. After taking care of them you should be able to rush forward using blink and complete the quest before the two naga can kill stop you.

Scaling is ... kind of fixed as of today, 4/17/2024. Regular Naga can be nuked easily, but Athissa is still....challenging.

I had real problems with this quest a few weeks ago. Today I tried it again, same level, and, while not easy, the fight with Athissa was manageable, and I could (finally) complete it.

Ran it today and it was insanely easy. Nuked everything within seconds. Seems to be easy to do now and I didn't have any weird scaling issues.

Scaling can make this quest quite the pain. If you are unable to defeat her while facetanking, just cast the meteor, and run out of range of her attack. Rinse and repeat till she's dead.

Besides the odd scaling people are reporting - I just did this on an 80 alt to get an artifact appearance I was missing on them and, man, you are uh not supposed to kill Azshara at the end. She's supposed to be barely touched and chuckle, "My wrath is coming..." before teleporting away. Absolutely was not expecting Farondis to demolish her with the meteor and have her fall over, dead. Did this tens of times when it was current but this time I laughed in a baffled way lol
Thankfully it doesn't brick anything and you can just run past her corpse! Yippee!

Too bad you can't loot epic items from her boss corpse.
