Respawned roughly in 1 hour 20ish minutes.
I was 366 equipped and received 376 shoulders. Guildie's looted 382 helmet at 371 equipped ilvl, Other friend received the Lifeflame Ampoule trinket at 376 ilvl at 362 equipped ilvl.

Did the chest with a lot of other people not in my group and could still loot it just by tacking some mobs during the event.

If you missed the thrilling and immersive gameplay loop of waiting around doing nothing for Poundfist or Soundless you'll love this chest

Edit: I can't confirm this myself, but I've heard people say after the Storm's Fury event expires and the Primalist Future returns to its original 10.0 form, the chest should be up because no one could access it while the Storm's Fury event was active, which takes longer than the chest's spawn time.

The chest spawns INSIDE the cave, near the back, at 27.9, 26.0. It's big, you can't miss it.

Clicking it starts the Trial of the Elements, which has 4 phases. Phases 1-3 are waves of elementals; phase 4 is the boss, Therrocite, who spawns at the mouth of the cave. Once the boss is dead, the chest unlocks and you can loot it. The chest disappears (for you) immediately after you finish looting it.

Spawn time (just now) was about 1 hr 10 min.

As a prot pally at ilvl 349, with prot loot spec, I got a 363 2H polearm (for ret), Uktulut Whaling Spear.(##RESPBREAK##)290##DELIM##arokan##DELIM##

Design: Ring-Bound Hourglass in-game TT says that it can be found in this chest or bought on the AH -- although is not appearing in the loot table, and I have not seen one on the AH. What do?

Apparently "It's fixed" but I can't click on the Chest of the elements for the life of me. It's 100% bugged and after attempting to relog restart /reload and every trick in the book i gave up. Tried 23 times on different servers and its a shame something this big with high level loot on a weekly reset is still bugged a month into the expac.

You can do the event on 60-69 characters aswell. But if there's a Primal Storm in location chest becomes 70lvl only.

I just read "The gear you get from the Trial of Flood and Trial of Elements will always scale to your current item level. Much like many of the rare enemies and world quests in Dragonflight, the two trials will scale their rewards to your characters’ current power. "

The loot table says ivl 350, but I just looted 379 "Cobalt Watcher's Vestment" and my ivl is curently 374...interesting

This is the end of an event called Trial of the Elements, it's a big deal and can't imagine many can solo at this point.

The chest itself is also guarded by 3 elites who hit pretty hard. You should kill them before you can even click the chest and start the event.

The cave itself is guarded by an elite elemental.

If you make or look for a group for this in lfg it should be titled "Trial of the Elements"

Edit: Don't see many groups for this anymore. Everyone has found out about it and seem to just camp it. An hour is a long time to wait...

Has anyone seen this spawn during the new Storm's Fury event? I have tried to camp it and see, but the freezing debuff makes it a pain...

Editing to add, I've been doing this chest every week on max level characters (I'm at 7 or 8 now), and I am yet to see anyone get the JC pattern, including when there were groups of 10+ people regularly for this.

I just died during the fight against Therrocite. Rushed back in, killed a few Elites and trash mobs and looted the Chest. I am actually unaware if I killed him, but would doubt it. He just despawned.
However, I guess this only works if you are alone in that cave.

Faithfully waited, waited, held aggro, only to have the chest despawn when folks rushed in and grabbed. Grrr.

Two Hours. I waited two hours for the spawn, don't know when the chest was opened last though, but either way plan for considerably longer than 1 hour when camping this.

Obviously Blizzard doesn't want us to work together: There were no groups in group finder the entire time (on a Saturday aftenoon), but when the chest spawned on my realm there were multiple other groups. So there seems to be some cross-realm timer in place to prevent people from team working.

I didn't mention the best part: The chest disappeared for me mid fight, I was not able to loot it. GG blizzard.

Pretty sure you need to be at least renown level 16 with Dragonscale (loot magic chests) in order to loot this chest.

I was in the middle of doing the event and then the storms fury event spawned and the chest went away…

I was having trouble looting this since the Feb 14th reset. I was finally able to to loot it 2/25 by flying away from the cave/chest area and returning which seemed to reset the event progression.

Finally saw this up today (3/3/23) after not seeing it for about three weeks. Brought my two toons over (prot warrior/holy priest) and was promptly annihilated because the event mobs were all up/spawned, as well as the cave mobs, and some randoms outside, and they were all chained together. Finally defeated the events mobs, got the chest to unlock, but as soon as my first toon looted it, the chest despawned and I couldn't even see it on the second one. The toons were being played at the same time.

Seriously dissapointed that this is STILL BROKEN. We all know how poor leveling with the crafting order system is, but it is disgusting to lock designs behind krap that you can't even get to work.
Guess I just have to have more patience with small, independent game studios...

I went on three different characters to try it out.
1. It does spawn right after The Storm's Fury, not when you complete it but when the event itself is done (you can track it on the main page of Wowhead)
2. I only looted the chest on my first char - on the last two it despawned and I couldn't loot anything while members of my party could.

It is either meant that way or it is annoyingly buggy, but this is what I found out so far.

I was doing this event yesterday ca 20min after the storm event and while at it, it bugged out phasing all of us doing it out of it... this is the 3rd time this has happened and i have never managed to loot the chest so far

Seems like event won't start properly if you enter the zone when the Storm is on, you have to enter the zone when there is no Storm, then you can loot the chest.

Has blizz adjusted the timer on this event? I'm seeing the respawn timer comments all over the place, some saying 2 hours, others 4. I just missed it twice on my paladin within the span of 1 hour, but maybe I got pushed into a different shard where it was just up.

This chest is aggravating. Hard to solo without finesse. The area is completely dead and P.U.Gs are stagnant. Also, it seems to bug out. I wish Blizz would make this chest more solo friendly considering it contains a design that only comes from this chest with a weekly lockout not to mention a horrendous spawn timer. Maybe I will feel different further down the line in season 2 when I'm geared better.

So.

While waiting for the chest to spawn in the Primalist Future, I decided to pull out the Cold Cushion and park my bony posterior upon it.

It was all fine and dandy, until I realized that I was stuck.

Never have I ever had to utter these words in guild chat before, "Guys. My a$$ is stuck to this toy and I can't get off"

Naturally, the primalist chest spawned while I was stuck in the lotus position. Thankfully I had time to log off/on to participate.

(and no, there was nothing I could right click to remove the toy.)

So, moral of the story: don't use toys while you're waiting to play with your chest.

I might have found a way to tell if chest is bugged and unbug it before it's over. Not much testing was done, downvote if it doesn't work.

Why is this happening: chest that you loot are not same object as bound chest that exists during event. In some circumstances, for reason i do not understand, you may activate event and not actually be a part of that event. Because of that, when event resolves it doesn't allow you to loot chest.

How to tell if it's happening: you won't get "Trial of Elements: Survive" temp quest in your log tracking what is going on

What I did: I did, first time by accident, opposite to what event asks you to do - died. I saw that event didn't register, went afk, then released spirit once I've returned and flew back to keep camping. Releasing in primalist future is special and it respawns you without a corpse run at platform with portal out of zone. When I got back to event area it registered in quest log and I looted chest after finishing it.

Tell me if it works for you too, and happy farming.

If you can see the chest there and event started by you or someone else but you dont see event progress or stages, then you will not be able to loot chest after event done. It is because when you camp for the chest at cave while storm's fury active, it is phasing you to another timeline which storm's fury event is happening (or something like that) after event end or completed u will be phased back to normal timeline but even if chest is there you still need to fly back to dome ( i mean the portal where you can go out of primalist future zone) then back to cave to chest. You dont need to use portal, just going in and out of dome is enough. After flying back to cave you will see progress bar will appear ( if event started ) or you can start the event by clicking chest. Doing this and being sure there is progress bar, it means you are participating that event and will be able to loot chest after it ends.

Spawns every hour
If "storms fury" event is up (it lasts 2 hours) then this chest event won't spawn
- Note that even if you complete the storms fury event that dos NOT mean the storms fury event is not up. It lasts for 2 hours in total. IE you do the event in first 15-20 min it will still take another 1 hour 45 min or so before the event is no longer active. You can use an alt to see if its still up after completing or you can look on front page of wowhead to see when its over

Because the chest event is phased during the storms fury event it WILL NOT spawn. Therefore as soon as the storms fury event is over the chest should appear so be at the cave as storms fury event comes to an end is best time to get it without waiting without knowing when it will spawn.
Warning: If your waiting at the cave during the Storms Fury event for it to finish be aware you'll get stacks of a freezing debuff which will dmg you more and more. The freezing debuff stops once storms fury event is no longer active

So you'll know the event is up several ways.
1. If you have not done the event previously you should get a notification of the event if your in the vicinity and the event starts
2. You should see brown and white swirlys on the ground during the event (even if you already completed)
3. You should see a chest icon with triangles or whatever around it on your map
4. You should see the chest with the lock on it inside the cave.

4 stages
Click the locked chest to start the event.

Phase 1-3:
spawns swirlies on the ground you'll want to try to avoid
spawns waves of elementals to kill (some elite ones i think but hard to tell with amount of ppl killing them too fast)
Phase 4:
spawns a mini boss, Therrocite
then the chest is "unlocked" and lootable
- During the event the chest looks ghostly or like icey mist is covering it along with a ghostly chain around it

You can only loot the chest/do the event once per week.

***Despawning
If the event is active but you don't see the "stage 1,2 3 or " thing then its bugged and you won't be able to loot the chest (or you've already completed the event and can't loot the chest again till next week). If that occurs try quickly flying away into the shielded dome area (with the vendors and stuff where you ported in at) then back and it should then appear and let you loot the chest at the end.

Don't need to have Jewlcrafting to loot pattern so can farm this on alts
Can do the event on characters below lvl 70

So I'll give an update since this is still bugged in 2024, and I've spent a week learning the best way to effectively be able to interact with this event successfully. This comes from me trying to (still at this point) obtain the Ring-Bound Hourglass recipie (as it's the only source).

As explained in some of the posts below, the chest event is tied to occur immediately after the World Quest for The Storm's Fury has finished. Storm's Fury WQ lasts for a duration of 2 hours, in which you can complete the quest to defend 4 portals and then spawn a boss. During the time (2 hours) the World Quest is active, the Chest of the Elements is NOT accessible. The World Quest occurs every 5 hours (2hrs on, 3 hrs off, rinse repeat). Generally speaking, the Chest of the Elements event is finished within 10 minutes of the "window" (post WQ ending) otherwise it simply expires and disappears anyway. You do NOT have to do anything regarding participating with the World Quest or it's objectives. It merely impedes the access to the Chest of Elements event until the WQ expires. I know it might seem confusing, simply use Wowhead to track the uptime of the event, and plan to login 5 minutes before the WQ expires (or if you use a WQ tracking addon).

So the Chest of Elements event itself. It spawns in the cave in the NW of the time rift in the Temporal Conflux of Thaldrazus. You don't have to have completed anything special, just click the golden portal (The Primalist Future). Now when you click the portal, you'll be in an instanced version (alternate to the real world), during the World Quest (The Storm's Fury), there will be a quest indicator of progression in your log for protecting 4 portals. As long as this quest is visible, Chest of Elements event will NOT be accessible. After 2 hours of the World Quest, and approximately 1 minute after, the quest log tracker for protecting 4 portals will disappear. Only at this time can the Chest of Elements event become accessible. Now one thing to notice/consider, the platform you stand on when you click the golden portal, is designated a santuary (blue text) and when you fly outside the bubble, you actually are crossing a threshold zone (important in a moment). Another thing to observe, during the World Quest, if you leave the bubble you will gain stacks of a debuff of Freezing which will hurt over time. This only exists when the WQ is active (conversely if you stay the bubble at the golden portal, you can stacks up to x25 of Warmth, which protects you). If either of this buffs/debuffs are active on you, this is also an indicator the WQ is still active, and thus you cannot do Chest of Elements.

So after the 2hrs WQ, it takes about 1 minute for the WQ to flush from the server. At which point the 4 portal objective in your quest list will vanish (when you're inside the instanced zone). This means you can go check the cave. If you're running a rare tracker mod of some kind, usually half way up the zone it should trigger that it can sense the chest event. This is no guarantee though. You need to fly to the cave, and in the cave you should see the chest (interactable, with no chain on it) with a few sleeping hostile npcs, and a large elemental guarding the door (and an annoying earthquake totem). So the chest at this point IS clickable (to initiate the event), but not lootable. You click the chest now, to initiate the EVENT (if the chest shows a chain and locked it means someone else has already started it. It's a long channel (about 10sec), and then the chest appears locked with a chain, and mouseover notes it's locked. However when you start the event, this is where it's often bugged and adds will begin to spawn, but you do not have a progress indicator in your quest log for progress "Stage 1: Survive". If you cannot see this, even though you've started the event, the chest will vanish and you will get nothing. If you CAN see the Stage: tracking, you're good (and lucky) things didn't bug (but often do).

If you cannot see the Stage tracker, get out of combat, get outside, mount up, and fly back to the gold dome (the sanctuary). The phase change seems to (with much success I've found) reset your presence in the instanced zone, and you can fly back to the cave. As you're approaching the Stage: prompt should appear even before you reach the cave, and you are good to complete the encounter. In some instances I have found I've had to go from the cave to the dome 2-3 times for some reason, to get the phase right to see the Stage: progress indicator. Then it's just survive the 4 waves of mobs (if someone isn't already doing it also), and get loot ! There's normally plenty of time to make at least one return trip, as the Stages spawn fairly slowly over several minutes.

As also mentioned prior, it's not just for level 70s. I am often 2boxing a 70 on one account and a 60 on the other trying to game the recipie :)

I know this might reiterate a lot of what's posted below, but hopefully consolidated with a lot of detail to help people get access to this event. I'm disappointed it's been bugged for so long, and it's the sole source of the recipie (which is in oddly high demand I get asked all the time). So I wish people luck with their farming. Might even see you in there.
