He's a reference to the Godzilla cartoon from 1978 in which Godzilla has a nephew named Godzooky who is the comic relief character.

I have never thought in my life that this knowledge would be useful. I'm so glad I watched this as a child now.

I would say this pet is more a reference to Gahz'ranka and the "rooki" meaning rookie as he has to learn much to become like is "bigger" self

Interesting that the hydra in Underbog, Outland has the same naming convention as 3 other hydra in Azeroth.

Gahz'rilla , Gahz'ranka and Gahz'rooki all share the same naming convention with Ghaz'an. The 'H' has a different placement, but they would still all sound very very similar.

Perhaps the connection between Outland and Azeroth via the Old Gods is indeed a viable theory. Or perhaps the Naga and Blood Elves brought it over with them?

Both theories are merely speculation at the moment. It is just food for thought for the lore-hounds.

What you get for that Radical Mojo

1) Gahz'rooki exists in only one breed: Power/Speed. His final stats are 1400/297/281: his health is meager but his other stats are... respectable. Not the best, by any means, but at least in PvP Pet battles he'll do ok damage and have a decent chance of going first

2) Gahz'rooki has a rather interesting moveset that mixes beast and aquatic moves, and a single elemental attack thrown in for giggles.

Strategy-wise, I think most of Gahz'rooki's moves are matters of personal preference: Tail slap does about 20% more damage than bite for about 20% less hitting, while Swallow You Whole and Devour both care about enemies on low hp. I'd say you want at least one of the aquatic moves unless, you know, taking on a critter species beast of fable or something like that. Between Whirlpool and Geyser, though, Geyser seems the clear choice: it has a longer CD and duration, but slightly better damage and the all-important round of stun.

3) Gahz'rooki is a pet hydra. Be the envy of Hunters everywhere!

Here is my advice for the future regarding this pet... STOCK UP NOW. When 5.4 rolls around and Battlefield: Barrens will be removed, so too the vanity items, gear, ~~and pets~~. This pet may not fetch a large price currently-- ~~but if indeed this pet becomes no longer available~~-- this pet will be an Auction House gold making machine.

NOTE: This pet becomes a rare drop. Still valuable but not as valuable if was to be removed.

Don't fear pet collectors. Even though Battlefield: Barrens will be removed in patch 5.4, the pet will still be obtainable via a rare drop.

This moveset is quite nice.... critters at low levels for leveling and class-appropriate skills higher for niche fighting.

This pet also makes noises when the heads fight. A little squishy aruing noise with a "whumph" at the end which is pretty annoying if you have a sound system with a decent amount of bass. Took me a little while to figure out what the heck that noise was, which is a shame because he's quite adorable otherwise!

If someone could please tell me, why on earth when I type "fluid" in my pet journal... this pet shows up... It's driving me crazy cuz I see nothing like that in any of his description... not really relevant but it's bugging me! :) I just HAVE to know lol

Can confirm he drops from the Hellscream/Kor'kron mobs around 38,20 in Northern Barrens.

Pretty rare drop; I picked it up while looking for the Kor'kron supply satchel that also drops from them.

Edit: His item, Gahz'rooki's Summoning Stone is BoP, but once learned you can cage him.

As of this moment, this pet is eluding me. I am currently in N. barrens, just SW of the The Morshan Rampart on the map. I have made two runs of the area, starting in the East, fighting to the West. After two loops and a lot of time, I moved to the upper tier of laborers and marauders. I have made one loop and calling it a night. Will update if I ever get it.

Got mine after 556 kills. Took about 20 minutes. I just did a circle killing each Demolisher and Engineer pack. They respawned quickly enough I was nearly constantly killing. Feral druid - instant flight form, brutal slash once with increased range talent, loot, instant flight form, repeat. Good luck!

Does this still drop? Any idea what the drop rate is? Rarity addon says 1per1000, but after 10,000 kills no drop yet. Farming both the Northern Barrens areas in the North (with the demolishers and with the Hellscream Labourers). Could just be VERY bad luck, interested to hear if others are still getting it.

Dropped from the Kor'kron Butchers near Crossroads on 7/18/2020. It only seems to be dropping from the Level 90 mobs now and these seem to be the only ones left.

This pet is still there. Got it in Northern Barrens (42,49), from Kor'kron Butcher (lv 90), after 40 min in this area - 22 September 2020. Got another after 1 hour, in Northern Barrens (41,52), from Kor'kron Butcher (lv 90) - 23 September 2020.

My hunter track humanoids and loot-a-rang helped with the grind. It too me 55 minutes to get Gahz'rooki to drop.

Got it today after 378 kills at 43.20 , 48.08 from a butcher of course, realm time was 8.07 .

Summoning stone still drops in Dragonflight - but only by Crossroads locations not NW listed . Got it after about 3 hours of farming off of a Kokron Butcher. You should be getting windwool off the common drop not linen and wool. If you get linen and wool you're in the wrong area.

The trolls have a long and storied history of summoning hydras. While he might not be the biggest or strongest hydra, Gahz'rooki will bite your fingers quite hard if you get too close.
