A new hunter tamable beast in Old Hillsbrad Foothills since 11.0.7, only available during Feast of Winter Veil
To see this NPC, according to the bluepost you need to be wearing or transmogged into a winter veil transmog set, or getting the buff from clicking on the Disposable Winter Veil Suits.
In reality though, I have found that not all transmog combinations work. The one that worked for me was the new 2024 winter veil red transmog:
Festive Red Holiday Coat
Festive Red Holiday Boots
Festive Red Holiday Shorts
Festive Red Holiday Belt
A mix of red and green did not work. The vest (instead of coat) also didn't work for some reason.
As for Disposable Winter Veil Suits, you might also need to click on it a few times before you get the apperance that makes you see the NPC.
You can /target this NPC as soon as you are walking out of the entrance area.
It seems to be always there until it is killed or tamed. It will respawn if you leave and reset the dungeon.
This NPC has the buff Yuletide Dreams, unsure if it has anything special the moment.
There are two versions of it, one with a glowing red nose, seems to be just random rarer spawn.(##RESPBREAK##)290##DELIM##PigeonD##DELIM##

You can speed up farming the red-nosed version by using the latched eagle-eye macro and navigate your way up to the reindeer while remaining at the entrance. You will see the red nose while he's laying there.

/use !Eagle Eye

I was lucky enough to find the red nose version the first time I went into the dungeon lol

I also went in with chest, belt and legs green and boots were red and nothing was there. I went back out and changed to all red colours and came back and the reindeer was there. Not sure if it would have spawned if I had green boots or not.

Make a macro: /target Dreaming

Move about 40 yards into the instance and you should be able to target it.

Important: If it's the red-nosed variety, it will have the red nose on the target portrait.

The Dreaming Festive Reindeer is located in the Old Hillsbrad Foothills dungeon on top of one of the cliffs at 35.2 37.3 (turn left when you exit the cave). The fastest way to get there is from the Caverns of Time portal in the Mage Tower in Stormwind (if you're Alliance) or the equivalent on Horde side in Orgrimmar. This will bring you to the Caverns of Time cave entrance. Fly (or take the courier) to the bottom of the tunnel. There will be dungeons in each alcove. The Old Hillsbrad Foothills dungeon will be on the opposite side from where you land.

The game's version of Eagle Eye only allows you to use it once. With a macro, you can use it multiple times so that you don't have to leave the dungeon entrance to check which version of the Dreaming Festive Reindeer is there.

The macro is: /use !Eagle Eye

The glow red nose shows on the NPC portrait, so you don't have to see the front of his head to confirm if it's glowing.

If you plan on getting more than one the fastest way out is to jump off the cliff you will respawn at the entrance

If you don't get the red-nosed, you can keep resetting the dungeon, dismis pet, and tame again. You can nhave your own flock. I named all mine like Santa's deear :D

I found the ultimate lazy way to do the check.

Once you zone in, use your Eagle Eye Macro until you are half-way down the corridor.
/use !Eagle Eye

Then use a target macro
/target Dreaming

and check the portrait icon in the default UI. I disabled my UI addons just to speed this up. I ended up hitting the dungeon reset timer before I could tame the rare version :(

Worth mentioning that if you have a mechagnome transmog didn't work for me. Had to use the Disposable Winter Veil Suits.

was lucky enough to get my first red nose after my first reset.. for my second reset I hit the maximum amount of instances you can enter per hour, so now I gotta wait for my second haha

Actually repeated thirteen times before I got mine, used the toy, Disposable Winter Veil Suits, and yes you have to have the red one, couldn't see him with the green version. The red nose is highly visible. Didn't bother using Eagle Eye either, just rode up to him, he's sleeping, so can get right up there to check his nose. Named him "Dolph", because why not?

I went in, wearing red suit, black nose deer. Reset, went in again to find red nose deer! The holiday transmog items were all new to me, look updated. Bought everything, lol. Super fun!

The Toy seems to be the most reliable method of seeing the reindeer. Some of the festive attire are so similarly-colored that it's easy to mistake the boots at a glance, so if you're willing to risk 20 minutes, then dressing up in the red version of the Toy wardrobe is my most recommended strategy!

(Still wish this was a Flight Form and a separate all-year-round Flying Mount, with Ride-Along being another Festive Reindeer.)

You only need to run from the entrance portal far enough into the zone that the tunnel widens on the mini map. From there use /target Dreaming and the reindeers portrait should appear if you're wearing the correct combination of clothing/xmogs. If the portrait has a red nose showing you're good, if not run out, reset, and try again. Good luck!

These are wonderful additions to the Hunter menagerie! I am curious how other Hunters will name theirs. I called mine Naughty (no glowing nose) and Nice (glowing nose)

It might help folks--I know I got lost for a moment--to know you have to run up North and then around to get to the finger of cliff that our darling reindeer are standing on. Once I figured that out, a light bulb went on.

Don't forget your Wild Holly for the festive mount, Mitzy to run behind you, and making sure your outfit is "festive" and the same color, but I admit I used the disposable suits too. My 2nd hunter couldn't see the deer even though I had the proper attire but the chest clothing helped after I did a refresh.

I also fell off the cliff and died rather than run back to the entrance for the next reset for the next deer. So far (2 hunters) my hunters have gotten super lucky I feel, but it is also that fact you can reset dungeons and redo that makes it feel more relaxed.

Use /tar Dreaming or /target Dreaming and it'll show you if you have a red nose version or not. I was able to use them in the tunnel before hitting the grass.

Also remember you can do quick moving portals from SW to IF if you duck through Boralus's portal room. Avoids the time cost of riding the tram. You can also ask the Steward to fly you down, just make sure you abandon the quest asap after taking it. Quicker than flying for me because of the twists and turns. Brings you close to the dungeon's entrance.

Just so people know, after tamed the pet has a snow effect while it runs (like it was running in snow at all times) and the red nose "Rudolph" version has a glowing red effect on the ground in front of it, not just the nose.

Once you enter the instance. Around the broken boat on the left side against the wall, about maybe 200 ft into the cave. You can target the Reindeer before even leaving the cave. /tar Dreaming Festive Reindeer

If you use the /tar Dreaming Festive Reindeer, you will get the picture of the Reindeer; it either has a red nose or not.

-NOTE: you can only go in/out 10 times in one hour, so you might have to wait for that timer.

If you're having outfit issues and can't see it at all, this is the combination I used:

Festive Red Holiday Coat
Festive Red Holiday Belt
Festive Red Holiday Pants (the shorts did NOT work for me!)
Festive Red Holiday Boots

Once inside the instance (go to your main city, take portal to Caverns of Time, then enter instance Old Hillsbrad. If you are in the same outside zone where you can do the daily quest for the yeti, you need to leave and go into the dungeon) , run up the hallway until it slightly opens and you can see the boat ahead of you ,which will be on the left side of the hallway as it turns in front of you. Use:

/tar dreaming

and it should pop up immediately as a target, and the nameplate will appear in front of you to the left of the boat and above. If you are AT the boat in the hallway and you can't target, go out and change clothes again until you can see it from there.

For newer players, you have to manually reset the instance in between each check. If you simply run out and back in, it will be the same reindeer. If you right-click on your player portrait, the option should be there.

Hello, it took me 2 days to get the reindeer with a red nose, that is, approximately 15 restarts, luckily I got 2 with a red nose in a row,

PS: the difficulty does not matter

Protip: Don't be dumb like me. Every time you come out of the instance, make sure you right click your portrait and reset the instance...

So for mechagnomes the ONLY solution is the toy Disposable Winter Veil Suits.(and ONLY the red one)
Every other combination of tmog its not working. Its not bugged its just the way it works.
If you dont have the toy and struggling to get it you can ask at Ironforge if someone can drop it for you to use it.
When you use the toy,a buff will appear (20 minutes cooldown) but before you leave check your toon to be in RED suit (green is not working). The toy wont disappear immediatly so you can use it again to get the red suit.
The rest of the procedure is the same.

Got my red nose on my second reset.

I would strongly suggest other Hunters to use a /tar Dreaming macro, as this will allow you to target the Reindeer from the dungeon instance, long before you get close enough for Eagle Eye to be able to see it, as Eagle Eye has the limitation of only being able to select a location that's in your current line of sight. A targetting macro completely ignores this limitation.

You need the costume BEFORE entering the instance. I put the toy inside the instance without the reindeer and used it to get the red outfit. Went out and in without resetting and it was there. Even with a red nose :)

It bothers how rare this red nose deer is. Like I get it, but it should be a fun little holiday pet. Not such a dang chore. I don't even know how many times I have reset and hit limit trying to get this thing. Just ruins the whole thing.

For those looking for the red nosed version, try wearing one of the Green Winter Hats or Red Winter Hats. I've run only 4 times. First three times with a Red Winter Hat with the Red Festive transmog, I got the red-nosed version. Upon reset and removal of the hat, I got the "normal" version.

Update: I ran three more times in full green and full red and was three for three on red-noses. Either the hats are the difference or the rare spawn rate was increased significantly once the Winter Veil gifts dropped.

2nd update: I ran six more times on a different hunter. 1 for 6 on red nosed reindeer. The ones above were run with a MM Troll Hunter. This one was run with a BM Panda (Horde) hunter. Hard to believe 7 for 7 was pure luck so, not sure what was different. The ones above were run with the Anniversary buff you get in Tanaris; the panda has not done anything for that so, that may be a difference-maker?

Go halfway up path
macro /tar Dreaming

Check target for red nose if none then rinse and repeat no need to go all the way to the raindeer to see it will show on target frame.

Make sure u have purchased the new transmorg items from winter veil vendor in Org or Stormwind and transmorg Festive Holiday coat, belt, pants & boots (make sure all same color). Head to Caverns of Time cave (take portal in Org or SW portal rooms ( lower room for horde) You can catch a ride to bottom of the cave from Steward of Time dragon if you want. Once at bottom of cave look at map to see Old Hillsbrad dungeon entrance location.
/target Dreaming macro works well to see which version of reindeer is in the instance - red nose one is very obvious once targeted . Reindeer can be targeted soon after entering instance so start spamming macro as you enter - should target once you are by shipwreck boat on path. Reindeer is located at 35/38 on top of Hill (refer to wowhead map). If you are trying to find the red nose one then just reset dungeon when you exit & try again - reset by right clicking your game portrait & selecting reset all instances, then go back in & check again. If you get message that you have entered too many instances then wait an hour for debuff to drop off & try again..
Just a reminder - Don't forget to dismiss your current pet & have empty slots in your active pets stable :-)

I just ran to the spot, if it was not red noses i just jump down from the cliff and die and you respawn just near the portal out :) eZ (Remember to get your red suit again from the toy , it dissapears when you die)

Please note you can get an icon (of a sled) without a portrait. You may have to turn portrait on and then you see both the icon and the portrait. You might have turned portrait off because it's known to decrease your FPS. I tried to post a screenshot of the portrait, but it's small enough to be disqualified from photo submission here. Suffice it to say it's not subtle at all: I kept worrying I might be missing it, but you won't.

So getting both of the Winter Veil Reindeer pets for hunters is actually quite easy.

There are (2) available:

(1) with a regular nose.
(1) with a shiny red nose...like "Rudolph."

They are in a dungeon that U need to go to the Time Walking/"Caverns Of Time" to get. If the correct one isn't there, then leave the dungeon and reset.

Here's how I did it:

Make sure U've bought the new Winter Veil Santa Clothes from the Vendor in Iron Forge (Near the Winter Veil event stuff) and U have transmogged Ur gear into those. The Reindeer won't show up without those clothes transmogged on. I think it requires at least (4) of the WV clothes items to be "worn".

1) Go to the Mages Tower in Stormwind (where all of the Portals are. {Alliance...I've no idea on Horde. shrug}
2) Enter the time walking area and get to the Dungeons in the main cave of the "Caverns Of Time".
3) Enter the Dungeon for "Old Hillsbrand Foothills" (10-11 o'clock on the map in the "Caverns of Time."
4) Once in the Dungeon, run up to the ship wreckage (pretty close to the entrance...U'll see it if U run in a bit.)
5) At the ship wreckage, type " tar/Dream " without the Quotes and U'll target the Reindeer.
6) Look at Ur "Target"'s icon and U can see which one is there..."Rudolph" or regular. The hardest one to get is the "Rudolph" (red nose) one, but I got it after a few tries.
7) Head further into the Dungeon and to Ur left and another quick left to run between the hills past a small pit then continue until U see a way up the hill to the right where Ur target is. Then tame normally.

IF it's not the one U want (Red nose/normal nose) when U see it in Ur target in step #4, then leave the dungeon and reset all instances and try again.

It's pretty painless, just a bit of running around.

Can confirm it needs to be the Festive Holiday Coat in the set. I wasn't seeing the Reindeer, and made the change to the coat from the vest from my yak in the instance. Instantly popped up on my screen.

Usually i have horrible luck with rng, but today I managed to get the red-nosed baby on my first try. Of course it took me a while of trying to get the reindeer to spawn at all to realize i accidentally had on the red pants while everything else was green, which caused some confusion of why i couldn't get it to work.

So a lesson, even if you think you checked your transmog, check again lol

So, im fairly new to being a Hunter... got in found the deer - and when I went to tame I got error saying I have too many pets! *SOB grrrrrrrr So, not sure if everyone usually keeps open spots :p and that's probably a new hunter mistake. so, I recommend making sure you have room to tame!

Maybe I'm just getting old, but the default target image wasn't 100% clear to me. I did confirm that the ElvUI 3D portrait also reflects the accurate model, and you can adjust that to show it zoomed in on the nose if you want. It was more clear from that view to me, even without zooming.

Still used the Eagle Eye method to confirm each one since I'm a bit paranoid of bugs. Doesn't take long to get there from the entrance (~6-7 hops, so about 10-15 seconds once you get comfortable with the "route").

Also, didn't think of this until the end, but if you have Inky Black Potion, that would probably help, too. You'd have to have them already though, since the holiday ends before the next DMF (tomorrow, 2025/01/05).

I have double check i have red festive tmog went to dungeon entered used the /tar dream by the slope dang it was with red nose. Did it again and same. maybe i got lucky but tamed it both of them in 2 run. Gl hunters

Rudolph's frame does in fact show a big red nose, so just edit the frame and make it real big and use /tar dream right in the entrance area of the dungeon right by the busted up boat in the tunnel. Saves you a ton of trips or a respec to MM to see up there.

I finally gotten the red nose after 3 tempts on normal switch to heroic first time gotten it to appear. Wearing full red transmog the coat pants waist and boots no special buff. hope this helps fellow hunters! also BM hunter lvl80 ilvl 632.

Unsure if anyone mentioned this yet but this work with the old school Christmas transmog, I had the original (all red) hat + vest + boots and I was able to tame.

3 out of 9 reindeers are red-nosed for me. So not super rare, just don't forget to reset the instance in between.
