He's the first boss encounter in Auchindoun: Mana-Tombs. He has a couple special abilities AE-knockback/damage and a spell reflect shield. The shield itself is green, but very hard to see - only last about 5 seconds.

Alright we did it with

Warrior - Priest - Warlock (me) - Hunter - Rogue.

When you first enter the room look to the right. You see that purple glowing lamp? Place your MT behind it while fighting the boss... and have someone (we had hunter) pull boss.. Warrior picks up aggro. 3-4 sunders we waited. Range dps on right side (where you first enter building) at absolutly max range. dps max range, and healer max range from tank.

Simply apply moderate DPS. Watch out for reflective shield. and you're done!

This guy is the first, and toughest, boss in the instance.

Important points:
-AOE Shadowbolt avgs for 2k and knocksback. So tank him against the wall.
-Melee reflect/thorns shield.

First boss in Mana Tombs:

I thought this was a fairly easy fight (however we did have a priest for shadow protection). Basically tank him in the middle of the room and have all ranged stand at max range.

-Watch for his shadow volleys. They knockback and do some decent damage. Make sure your offhealer is watching the rest of the group and if you don't have an offhealer, have the dps bandage themselves.

-The Reflect shield can be devastating. If you are melee or magic based, STOP ATTACKING.

NOTE: Hunters can continue to Auto-shot. Physical ranged dps does not reflect back.

Other than that make sure you have shadow protection of some sort, and if you don't have that make sure you have a good healer with you.

On heroic, this guy melees for shadow damage 3.5 to 4.5k damage and he attacks fast. It is resistable, but with our tank at 150 shadow resist, we couldn't kill him. It is probably only doable with a maxed out shadow resist on the tank.

this guy is not hard at all, when i did him i was tanking him as a 62 warrior, we had 64 rogue, 64 hunter, 63 paladin and a 63 druid

We attempted him on heroic. 2x rogue, warrior, priest, paladin, everyone pvp specced. With no SR gear we were unable to kill him.(5-6 tries) 3-4k dmg in like every sec on tank. It's insane. gl with it :)

Heroic Mode: The boss has few hp and has the same abilities as the normal mode one. Except the shield. When the shield is up, it reflects a lot of shadow damage. So, tank and dps must NOT hit the boss during the shield which lasts 6secs. Keep thunderclup up and bring a pala/priest for shadow res buff.

We did it today with war tanking with 120 shadow res, mage arcane/frost with iceblock, rogue subtlety, pala holy and feral druid (healing).

It's better if the tank and healers stand near the wall so the knockback will not shoot you away. Blessing of salvation if possible on everyone, even healers.

A bit hard but we made it. 3 tries.

The result of two rogues, a lock, a warrior and a solo healing priest(me) in Mana Tombs Heroic. A pally could probably solo heal thanks to Blessing of Salvation, but I got aggro pretty easily.

Bring two healers, no more than one melee, or failing that around 200 SR on the tank.

Just tanked him with 150 SR fully buffed, it was tough, but dampen magic on the rest of the group helped by leaps and bounds.

Also, as of 2.1 his shield now makes him look ethereal, very obvious, easy for dps to stop before killing themselves.

Had a feral tank, one healer (a holy priest), and a rogue, hunter and mage for dps, he's really not that bad, if the dps knows to bandage themselves from time to time and it's no sweat.

His damage has been nerfed slightly in 2.1

His melee is only around 2.5-3.5k and still resistable. Bringing a shaman along almost makes him trivial since grounding totem absorbs the void blasts which does the knockback (and where most groups will probably wipe due to the healers being unable to heal for 2-3 seconds).

Atleast 100 SR or a tank with 12k+ HP, 2 healers, a shaman, and a dps and you're good to go.

Heroic mode:
just 4 manned this boss with
Holy pala (me)
Prot pala
Warlock
Shammy

tank had 0 shadow resistance on only pala aura, we killed him on the first atempt, i went oom but only at the very end (used 1 super mana pot) we also had no deaths.
This boss is easily doable as long as everyone concentrates, make sure you all tank him with your back to the wall and get all party members to heal themselves when possible.

never 5 manned him as it was my first atempt but should be easily doable as long as every focuses.

!!!!!Also note shadow resistance is not needed!!!!!!!!

First boss is Pandemonius a huge armored Mana Fiend, and you come to him very quickly in the instance. You get to fight him after maybe half a dozen pulls, which is really fun. He can be a difficult fight and most groups have some issues with him at first. Once you understand the fight though, it isn't that hard and is a pretty fun and challenging encounter.

Void Blast - This attack hits everyone within 30 yards for about 1500 damage and knocks them back. He does this attack in waves of 5, 1 every second for 5 seconds. As long as you are in range you will keep getting hit.

Shadow Shield - Periodically Pandemonius will glow with a green/yellow shield. This shield reflects all spells cast on him and deals 1000 damage back to all melee attackers. All spells cast while the shied is up are reflected, but DoTs cast before the shield come up are not, so it is safe to DoT him. Also ranged attacks are not reflected, so hunters can continue to attack.

In addition to his abilities, it is important to know that Pandemonius hits hard, however it is all shadow based. This means that you can greatly reduce the fights difficulty with shadow protection buffs and gear. If the tank has a lot of shadow protection gear, this fight can become very easy. Secondly, because of the way his knock back attacks work, the tank should keep him in the center of the room instead of the normal tactic of backing against a wall. If you do this the fight becomes more difficult because of the extra damage the tank will be taking.

Everyone else in the group should stay spread out around him and be ready to back off once he starts void blasting. Healers can stay at max distances and avoid being hit by it entirely. Once he blasts, everyone should wait for the 5th blast to finish and then run back in. The main thing to watch for in this fight though is his shadow shield, as party members can end up killing themselves very quickly (especially rogues or the tank) by continuing to hit him while it is up. As soon as it appears, back off and stop attacking, including the tank, until it the shield goes down. At that point allow the tank a hit or two to ensure aggro and then start attacking.

By far one of the hardest bosses I have done on any heroic. This boss hit me constantly for about 2500+ and often for 3800+. I had about 141xx armor unbuffed.

As a tank it took me a few goes to get this boss right tanking wise. Obviously the thing to do is keep thunder clap and demo shout up the whole time while using shield block when ever the cool down is up.

From a tanking point of view you are damned if you and and damned if you dont with this boss. Damned if your group stays within 30yds as the shadow bolts will knock them back and hit them for 2000+ and on clothies, thats alot. Damned if they stay 31+yds back as you will take 5 seconds of 1500+ shadow damage.

The best thing I found for our group was for me to waste cooldowns such as shield wall, when he got to 50% and use last stand aswell. Pretty much I had thunder clap the whole time with demo shout and even got the lock to put the weakness curse up. Still he was hitting me for 2500+.

However, this boss goes down damn fast. Hit him hard form the start and you wont have too many problems.

A priest healer is by far the best healer for this boss i found. As they can use their shadow protection buff and renews help alot. I had a shammie healer and while the boss went down, it required the group to work alot more! Shammies provide great healing and it does work, but for me this is one fight where I found a priest has been the best.

Not really a challenge on heroic at all unless you group blows. Best thing to do is take a shaman for grounding totem and a priest/paladin for SR aura. I've tanked it several times with NO SR unbuffed and the only problem I've had is noob dps killing themselves when he goes void.

this boss has definately bugged loot table on heroic mode, i have downed him 10 times, and he dropped bow 4 times, and dagger 4 times, once the cloth shoulder, and i cant remember the other loot

also my 5 cents for strategy: shamans should keep grounding totem up all the time, not only that it will soak 1-3 of the shadowbolts boss does, but also it will soak ALL (seen it, could not believe it) of reflected spells during dark shell phase. also tell healer to be prepared that tank will get ALOT of damage, regradless of armor, as boss does pure shadow damage on meelee hits, which is not mitigated by armor (and also cannot be blocked)

Having attempted this many times as a resto druid, it seems that the tank having shadow resistance is required. Mark+Priest buff was not enough sadly. Though I could heal through the damage (with over 1600+ healing) this generates far too much aggro even with the imp tranquility and subtlety talents.

If someone asks you to go to Heroic Mana tombs, ask about the tank's shadow resistance would be my advice.

as a prot warrior tanking him on heroic is easy,
simply what i did
i went and bought some potions (greater shadow protection potion)
i also bought some crappy greens of shadow protection, (81 unbuffed + 70 + 24 = 175) although i didnt resist all of his attacks i resisted a very low amount but the damage went from 4500 per hit to 1900 per hit.
i died nearend though cause of healer outta mana but we kiled him anyway

Just adding one thing to clear up confusion. Only thing to worry about is his transparent move. When he does that every attack you do, you will get damaged. 750 damage done to me as a rogue, I am not sure if it multiply based on your attack power. Long as every person understand not to attack while his transparent, fight will be smooth.

Pandemonius is the best way to gain Spirit Shards in Auchindoun in my opinion. When your side has the Blessing, simply run in and fight Pandemonius. He's not the toughest boss in the game and is so early on in the instance that you can finish in about 10 minutes or so. Then simply run out, reset, and repeat. You can make a LOT of spirit shards with a good group this way.

Pandemonius does a knockback effect.

This can be easily avoided by having the group's tank face their back against the rock pillar in the middle of the room

I have tanked this boss non heroic on my warlock. its actually easier then a warrior imo.
all you do is bulk up Shadow Resist (easily in greens with +stam in outland) + Demon Armor for more SR and hit shadow ward... spam searing pain for added threat and the fights simple since your not taking damage from the melee shield and its all shadow based. Also your dots dmg through the magic reflect shield so you are still making threat while its up

Did he get buffed in 2.2? We were able to beat him before with 70SR, 13k hp tank, and a single pally healer but we cant now....

Just downed him in heroic mode with Warlock tanking, Shadow Priest (for buff) and Mage DPS, Druid for off-healing (and buff), and Paladin healing. I was the warlock (demo specced) and had about 190 SR with felhunter out + SR gear + MoTW + shadow resist buff + Soul Link. Also, I was able to use the shield that absorbs shadow damage every 30 seconds. I had around 12k health and came close to dying a few times but was able to use my healthstone once and didn't need to use a heal pot.

If you try this, have the warlock spam Searing Pain between dots to help keep aggro.

We tried this boss twice with the druid tanking and couldn't get him down further than 35%, but it was a piece of cake once we switched it up!

Pandemonius' attacks are all purely shadow damage, including his melee attacks.

Elemental melee attacks cannot be blocked, but they can still miss, or be dodged or parried. Armor does not reduce the damage at all, but resistances will. Attack power reducing debuffs such as Demoralizing Shout can also work.

If you're trying to tank him as a Paladin, use Shadow Resistance Aura. Devotion Aura does not work. Retribution Aura's reflected damage will cause his Void Shell damage to trigger against you, so that's a bad idea as well.

Also, do not bother casting Holy Shield, since his attacks cannot be blocked. The same goes for Blessing of Sanctuary.

If you're willing to spend some gold buying "of Shadow Protection" greens from the AH, you can trivialize this fight. Failing that, just bulk up on as much HP as possible, since that's the best way to mitigate his damage. Even as a tank, you'll want to stop autoattacking during Dark Shell.

(Heroic) We bypassed this very tough boss by sacrificing our tank. Have your tank strip and range-pull the boss back and to the left, while the rest of the party runs into the hallway just behind the boss' spawn point. If you stop just accross the line entering the hallway, the boss will reset (once the puller is dead) and the mobs in the hallway will not aggro. There's a metre or two clearance, at the most.

Rez the tank and continue. The next two mobs can be pulled without getting the four behind them.

we did him yesterday after 5 or 6 tries. (on heroic ofc)
mage, rogue, enh.sham,holy.priest, feral.dr00d.
we had no shadow res gear at all, only priesty's buff. i had to switch to healing, and it was no prob. he doesnt do much. grounding totem really conters his stuff fine, just dont nuke him when he enters shadow thingy. with just 2 dps and tank it was fine.

Easyest boss in the dungeon even in heroic mod.

İ killed this guy in heroic mod with 3 different groups, tanked without any resistange gear or pally to aura and all was one shot. Just tank and kill..

Be sure that you have a good healer, have around 16k healt (with kara & badge gear easy to optain) and dont attack on shield. Nothing to worry aboult..

I found that using snake trap prevents the whole group from getting the knockback spell
cuz it has a limit of targets i think. i did this twice in one fight, having only our feral druid (dps) getting knockedback and, some dead snakes.

Since you are required to clear the room beforehand, it is very easy to kite him around the room if your tank dies and the healer is still up. In our group, our tank died at 20%, and i as a healer was able to outrun him while hunter killed him.

A note for people trying to do the heroic version of the instance, make sure your dps is very high. Though that is not a prerequisite for many instances, it is imperative that your dps can burn this boss down before the massive shadow damage the tank is taking and the aoe's that are flying around exhaust the healer.

Shamans are great, but shadow resistance is not a must. Just do not attack if that shield is up (Hunters are good) but then get ready to bust cooldowns and burn him before he aoe's/shield's again. Good communication and powerful dps can make this fight a breeze. In heroic, if you bring along scrubs, you won't have much of a chance.

Has anyone tried tanking this guy with a destro lock? I tend to think that with the talent that makes them immune to shadow and fire this would be a rather trivial fight for them provided they can hold aggro, though I have never rolled with a group that has tried this.

Duoed with a Resto Shammy (67) and a Blood Death Knight (67). Some notes about this fight for any prospective duoers or even soloers.

When it begins, pace out 100 yards for the healer and make sure you tank Pandemonius at his little spot, don't let him escape and mess out the length.

Mark of Blood is very useful for his melee phases, Vampiric Blood was great when my mate was feeling a bit pressed, Icebound Fortitude played its usually godly role, and Rune Tap was great for when my friend ran out of the way to escape void blasts, as a topper up.

I'd definitely recommend not using anything fighting Pandemonius. He'd strike me back with anything I used. On the one attempt I used Dancing Rune Weapons, I got destroyed (they'll continue to attack even if you deselect). Apart from that, it was a normal tank and spank.

Make sure you make your healer, if they're a shaman, drops a Grounding Totem, it would have relegated Pandemonius to less troublesome than the trash mobs.

I also soloed Pandemonius from 30k health to zero and emerged from the fight with 2000 health. With some preparation you could solo this boss I think, although the trash would be more of a problem.

This boss most likely can be soloed @ 80 on heroic. I got him to 45% on my warrior, with 25K HP unbuffed. A healing class(like a pally) can most likely solo him.

This guy is basically impossible to solo without a LOT of shadow resistance. Tried soloing him on a feral druid with just the 75 resistance from MotW, and he kicked my butt. The fact that his melee attacks deal shadow damage makes both armor and Savage Defense 100% useless on this fight. You're taking the same damage in bear form that you'd be taking in caster. Ouch.

I may try again if I can find a priest to buff me with Shadow Protection beforehand, but I doubt even that would be enough. You'd need a full set of shadow resist gear to solo him with a druid, and it's not worth the effort.

Edit: heroic, obviously, he's cake on normal mode.

Those trying to solo him - I dealt over 18k damage to myself because I didn't stop attacking when he used Dark Shell. I thought it was just anti caster...nope!

That was over half the damage I took for that fight...after I stopped attacking it was ez.

edit: Didn't use any Shadow Resistance. I did pop my Enraged Regeneration around 30% though.

This guy is easily farmable until you get the message that you've entered too many instances recently. He is just inside the instance, and if you want something off of him, you can continue to farm him seeing as how in less than 5 minutes you can be in and out with Panda dead.

solod as 66 feral druid. Pop cooldowns whenever shadowbolts are coming. When you get knocked back he will have to catch up to you again, use that time to switch to caster form and heal yourself up again and try not to kill yourself with reflected attacks. Not too hard

Intriguing Specimens is a new quest added in patch 4.3 to the Terokkar Forest area, and can be acquired from and returned to Mamdy the "Ologist" inside of the Mana-Tombs dungeon instance, which is a representative for The Consortium. He is located in the northern-most instance portal, inside of the Mana-Tombs itself. It is highly suggested to pick up Safety is Job One and Undercutting the Competition from Artificer Morphalius right next to Mamdy the "Ologist" before clearing this dungeon.

Tavarok's Heart is acquired from killing crystal colossus boss Tavarok.

--------->> Pandemonius' Essence is acquired from killing giant voidwalker boss Pandemonius.

Players DO NOT need to be in Heroic mode in order to complete this quest.

With both guild perks Mr. Popularity, players will receive 165 reputation with The Consortium, and 1 guild rep (2 with Renowned Guild Tabard).

NOTE: As of this time few of the tooltips, quests, or Quick Facts have been updated linking items/NPCs/quests together. This is a single quest and as yet does not have any associated chains or quests thereafter. Will continue to scan for changes and update as needed.

Be careful, if your water elemental kill him, no loot, and your water ele can kill him 1 shot at lvl 100.

Same for your Mirror image, so if you are a frost mage level 100,

No Mirror image and no water ele

So I gleefully waltzed into Timewalking Mana Tombs with OP trinkets and legendary ring, cloak, daggers and meta gem, only to completely forget about this guy's melee reflect shield. That was quick.
