You can access this rare by using Repaired Riftkey on the Rift Portal located on the coordinates below.
Needs Tier 4 research with The Archivists' Codex Reputation to buy Repaired Riftkey.

The rare needs to have the buff Rift-Veiled to activate.

Can be reached easily by using the "Rift Portal" (Requires Portal Key) @ 57/75, the right side of the bottom island. The rare is within the ring and hits very hard due to his Eye Blast that seems unavoidable and does increasingly higher damage over 3 casts (interrupt the 1st to stop all 3) He casts the 3 blasts every ~12seconds or so. 930k base health. Can drop a toy based on All The Things.

Spawned again instantly after I killed him with "rare elite" still marked for more loot. I could loot again but no special loot.

Unlike the other rift rares (2 that I've seen so far), this one isn't visible outside of the rift - at all. No star, no shadowy NPC.

I'm a 204 Prot Pally and it seemed to be a pretty easy solo. The 2 most important things are a big blue swirly on the ground and an eye beam. I have a 15 sec interrupt that seemed to work well on the eye beam and just make sure you run out of the swirly or 3 shade looking mobs will spawn and really drain the health from you. As a tank I don't do a lot of damage so it took quite awhile an he had right at 1M health. Keep in mind Prot Pallys are decent self healers as well. Without my self-heals he would have crushed me. Unfortunately didn't get much from him but a BOA Korthian Armaments which could be turned in for a L200 item plus a few items for research turn in.

So, I was able to kill this guy multiple times, but I only recieved Venari rep the first time, and looted nothing but trash.. so im not sure if this is intentional or not.

This mob can drop Maw-Ocular Viewfinder, a toy that gives you a 10 minute buff called Maw-Ocular View. The toy spawns a small stationary circle about 5 yards in diameter. Inside the circle, your form is silhouetted, and the ground swirls as if in the shadow realm. There are a few soul cages and a couple of maw creatures, none of which can be interacted with. Other people passing through the circle are also silhouetted.

If there are many people, especially melee, make sure to be spread enough, because his instant cast Eye Beam ability will bounce and destroy everyone past 3 bounces, hitting for up to 1 million.

Here my account on soloing him as a 217 prot warrior. Really nothing to be afraid of. He only has 3 attacks:

Eye bolt
Blue swirlies
Focused Annihilation

Eye bolt ist basically his auto-attack and you can easily run out of the blue swirlies before they detonate. The only potentially dangerous thing about him is Focused Annihilation, which is his sustained eye beam. You can interrupt it, but he repeats it quite often, maybe every 6 seconds or so. However, I've also noticed that you can (somewhat hilariously) spell-reflect it. He will then still do the full cast, but seemingly take a good look at himself and hurt himself for a couple of percent.

So basically, I interrupted his first cast, spell reflected the second and then had to tank the third, which really doesn't hit that bad. Given that he mainly casts, its a good idea to use Ignore Pain over Shield block anyway to build up some absorption for this moment.

Attempted several times. Each time first ability interrupted but then second spell always hit me for 25k+. Not sure how people say they soloed him but seems almost impossible to me. Better to organise a small group. This ones TOUGH!

I can do this as a warlock solo.

Have your pet tank him within range of the doorway / entrance to the area.
Place yourself in the doorway.
When he starts to casts Eye Beam, line of sight him left or right of the door.
When he casts Focused Annihilation is the time to DPS him hard, or heal your pet. Duck back out of line of sight right before the Focused Annihilation is finished.
Repeat.

This method should minimise the amount of damage you take, and give yourself windows to maintain your pet and apply dots / dps.

Respawn time has been vastly increased in 9.1.5, from anywhere from 60 to 120 minutes.

Bad news for people farming for his axe mog; due to raids of people spam-killing him for codex rep in 9.1.5 his respawn time was 'fixed' and it's now much more time consuming to get groups.

He is now so rare for solo players that he deserves a place on WWF`s list of endangered species.

Idk when exactly but unfortunately they added a spawn timer to him, which is sad. When i did korthia on my main, which was right when it came out basically, yorik was always up, he was always the last thing i did in Korthia after hunting all rares for 2 hours, no waiting, no stress, just go there, into the portal, find group, kick the !@#$ outta him. Dont understand why the spawn timer was needed when the all-rare grind already takes long enough, especially now when everyones already done with Korthia so there are no groups.

It "seems" you can get him to spawn faster by killing mobs fighting in the outside area - Not 100% sure, but after ~5 minutes of fighting I get the emote, or roughly 50-70 mobs killed.

In addition, I've been able to solo him as a Feral/Guardian druid, as a Havoc/Vengeance DH, as a Survival/BM hunter, as a Fury/Protection/Arms warrior with Impending Victory, as well as a Frost/Blood/Unholy DK, all in the 210-220 ilvl range- The key is to interrupt his Eyebolt instead of his beam - 2x Eye Bolts deal as much damage as the full beam, but over a 3 second period, and interrupting the first Eyebolt after every beam results in you ONLY taking damage from his beam, which is easily sustainable with solely Accretion (70%+ overall healing). Interrupting Beam means you take damage from ~5 Eye Bolts which isn't sustainable for most classes.

DKs, Hunters, and DH's have a slightly shorter interupt length, so you'll need a bit more sustain because you'll take the occasional Eye Bolt.

As a hunter my main issue was Yorik's Eye Blast ability because it dealt huge amounts of damage to me even though my pet was tanking. Focused Annihilation by comparison was easy to deal with by just keeping Mend pet up. In the end I just opted for going behind a nearby wall whenever Yorik started casting Eye Blast and only coming out while he was casting Focused Annihilation on my pet. Took some time but worked out great.

I was camping a Rift Portal at "/way 53.71 71.88", and at the exact moment it appeared, I've entered it and Observer Yorik was up. He's definitely soloable on 9.2.5.

OBS.: I was camping his spot while inside a rift, and then ~5 minutes after I've lost my Rift buff, I camped the Rift Portal location. So it's most likely that when that specific Rift Portal spawns, then Observer Yorik spawns with it.

As others have said you will not see him outside the rift. You must be in it. Also the portal nearest him does NOT have to be up for him to spawn. I killed him by taking the rift portal that is always up and going across the map.

Been camping Observer Yorik since Dragonflight began for the Conquering Kortha achievement. I've spent over 10 hours and never seen him spawn. Starting to think he's bugged.

Can anyone confirm they've seem him post-Dragonflight launch?

I suggest getting 2 Rift keys for this
First enter rift and see if he's already up
if not,
exit Rift and kill mobs around his location in the vault of secrets as others here mentioned
an emote will appear in the chat confirming that he spawned:
"Observer Yorik watches your every move from the Rift..."

Coincidently, the other rift rare 'Silent Soulstalker' also spawned at the same time
they could be linked or just pure coincidence

at this point i entered the Rift (i had to mount back the rift portal in the cave in the middle of Korthia, since no portal spawned around me
killed Yorik first, then triggered the Silent Soulstalker thus dragging me out of the rift.

2023/08/22 (Dragonflight).
Okay so I was looking for this rare for over a week farming the Covernant mounts here in Korthia and doing dailys. I found out that you have to *MAKE HIM SPAWN* by killing mobs right outside the "platform" where he spawns, I did so for 5-10 minutes or so then it said following: "Observer Yorik watches your every move from the rift...". You can take the Rift Portal close to where he spawns at coords; 53.71 71.87. (The Rift Portal nearby spawns when Yorik spawns).

He does not seem to spawn much after Dragonflight. I've yet to see him.

After checking for him 5-6 times I read the comments here more closely. I tried the suggestion of clearing mobs around him and ended up clearing everything on the island. About 50-60 mobs later he spawned and as mentioned the rift on the island appeared.
