My current ilvl is 418 and I have every enchant that I can get for my gear. I still used my clefthoof for Primal Rage and I burned through this boss before the speed buff wore off. I didn't even make it to the second phase.

I will leave the original post below in case anyone needs any other pointers, but I think at this stage in the game, everyone will be able to solo this by the time the next expansion releases (which they only just announced a couple days prior to my edit).

I actually solo'd this today on normal. It wasn't easy, but I managed. I'm not sure about other classes, but I imagine as long as you're a tank that can mitigate damage or have epic heals, you'll make it too.

I did it on my hunter main, ilvl 387 with all but the neck enchants detailed by Icy Veins. I also used a clefthoof (good ol' Faultline, but any will do). Clefthooves are THE hunter tanking pet. Their leech gives them excellent self heals and they have armor to protect through near anything, but in this case you simply want the leech because you get some of that returned to you as well. On top of that, they have Primal Rage which will give you that extra burst at the start of the fight which is where you need it the most. You might think a spirit beast would be better for the extra heals, but you honestly want to trade the extra heals for damage in this case (also because you might be too far away for your pet to use them).

A side note, I have a Bottomless Reliquary Satchel that might give you just a smidge extra DPS as long as it doesn't proc the ampoule flame AoE effect. Also, make sure you are using Misdirect since pet growl in dungeons/raids is STILL broken. My tree is specced to use Death Chakram on the last tier. Do NOT, under ANY circumstance, use Stampede. It is a 'line of sight' attack and you could end up turning the wrong way and completely ruining the chance to use it. Also its damage isn't for sh!t.

The one main thing that will get you is Searing Breath, it's a stacking DOT that increases the amount of damage every time its applied. It is crucial to pump as much damage out as you can while you are afflicted with this because it will continue to rise. For the first and second stack, your clefthoof should be able to provide just enough heals back to you to mitigate some of the damage, but it grows almost exponentially as you get to three and four stacks (at one point I wasn't watching how many stacks I had because I was working on staying alive).

You want to make sure you have Survival of the Fittest and Exhilaration on standby to use it when you need to. I started with SoF to stave off a bit of the damage for a few seconds and waited until I was nearly 30%-ish health, then I popped Exhilaration. At this point, the damage was still coming, but you soon enter phase 2 where Wrathion flies up and casts Burning Cataclysm, a massive 'Scorched Earth' type attack that you only have few seconds to get out of. Pop Aspect of the Cheetah if you have to and zoom out of the way. Once that dissipates, continue to DPS and win.

Overview – Wrathion's [Molten Eruptions] unleash [Molten Pools] throughout the space, consuming 50 energy. When all his energy is depleted, Wrathion melds into the shadows and inflicts [Burning Madness] on enemies and transforms all [Molten Pools] into Crackling Shards. While hidden in the shadows, Wrathion regains energy, and once fully recharged returns to the fight space and turns any remaining Crackling shards into [Lava Pools].
- Damage Dealers –
  Focus damage on Crackling Shards when they emerge.
  Move to a safe space during [Burning Cataclysm] to avoid taking lethal damage.
  Running through Crackling Shards while afflicted with [Burning Madness] destroys them.

Stage One: The Black Emperor

Searing Breath – Inflicts 23640 Fire damage to all players in a cone in front of the caster and applies a stack of Searing Armor.
- Searing Armor – Inflicts 1771 Fire damage every 1 sec and increases the damage of Searing Breath by 80% for 20 sec.
  This effect stacks.
Incineration – Ignites random targets, inflicting 15 Fire damage every 2 sec for 6 sec. Upon expiration, targets explode, inflicting 90 Fire damage to all players. Damage decreases the further targets are from the point of impact.
Gale Blast – Unleashes a gale blast, inflicting 26625 Fire damage and knocking players back within 30 yards, as well as inflicting 13278 Fire damage to all players outside of 30 yards.
Afterwards, launches fire balls at random enemy destinations that inflict 75 Fire damage to enemies within 5 yards of impact.
Burning Cataclysm – Wrathion teleports to a random spot and spews fire, inflicting 2953 Fire damage to enemies every 1 sec for 8 sec.
Additionally, scorching blisters form throughout the area.
- Scorching Blister – From the ash, scorching blisters form. Inflicts 34 Fire damage every 1 sec to enemies standing within them.
  These blisters grow over 10 sec before exploding, inflicting 120 Fire damage to enemies within 30 yards.
Molten Eruption – Unleashes a hail of fireballs, inflicting 9901 Fire damage and knocking back players within 3 yards of the point of impact.
Each eruption leaves behind a Molten Pool.
- Molten Pool – Each Molten Pool transforms into a Crackling Shard when Wrathion's energy reaches zero.
Tail Swipe – Inflicts 23621 Physical damage to players in a cone behind him, knocking them back.
Creeping Madness – While under the effects of this madness, players gain stacks of Slow while they are moving for 2.3 min.
At 50 stacks of Slow, the player receives 61 Shadow damage every time they move.

Stage Two: Smoke and Mirrors

Scales of Wrathion – Scales fall from Wrathion. Catching a scale inflicts the player with Burning Madness. Any scales not caught inflict 20669 Fire damage to all players.
- Burning Madness – While under the effects of madness, any Crackling Shard you run over is destroyed and extends the duration of your Burning Madness. Each time this occurs one stack of Burning Madness is removed.
- Burning Madness – While under the effects of madness, any Crackling Shard you run over cancels Hardened Core and extends the duration of your Burning Madness. Each time this occurs one stack of Burning Madness is removed.
Crackling Shard – Summoned from molten pools. Any shards still remaining at the end of Stage Two are turned into Lava Pools.
- Hardened Core – The shard's hardened core makes them immune to damage.
- Pyroclastic Flow – When a shard is destroyed, it inflicts 4429 Fire damage to all players within 10 yards.
Lava Pools – Formed from unbroken shards, lava pools inflict 9901 Fire damage every 1 sec to players standing within the pool.
Additionally, every lava pool created inflicts a stack of Rising Heat onto players.
- Rising Heat – As lava pillars consume the space, heat rises inflicting 118 Fire damage every 1 sec for the duration of the encounter.
  This effect stacks.
Ashwalker Assassin – Conjured from smoke and ash, these servants of Wrathion stalk the players during Stage Two.
- Smoke Shroud – Shrouded in smoke, the assassin fades from view.
  Revealing the assassin from stealth or inflicting damage disperses the shroud from the minion.
- Noxious Choke – While shrouded, Wrathion's minions stun their victims for 10 sec.
- Dark Ambush – While shrouded, Wrathion's minions will strike from the shadows inflicting 23621 Shadow damage to their current target.
