There's no way to spin that misdirect exploit as anything but. It's a straight up cheat in this regard. Should they allow lighter forms of cheating and exploiting if the devs and community don't catch it and fix it in time? That's what needs to be sorted.Based on history and now this they really need to nut up make a stance and public statement on exploiting because the wishy washy nonsense needs to stop. Put something in the rulebooks and stop being cowards. As it stands the new future for the format is to cheat and hope the community throws their voice behind you. About the #$%^test situation you can have in any kind of tournament.
I saw the Dratnos clip talking about this.Dratnos said that Echo had contacted the Blizzard rep and informed them of their intent to do this, and asking if it would be within the rules. If Blizzard did not state that it was a bannable, then I believe that Echo is in the clear here.
What are people on about? Does anyone remember Tol Dagor and how every one used to abuse the cannons with rogue MD back then, on both live and tournaments? How is this any different? It was reported and blizzard didn't fix it for an entire expansion and everyone was fine with it.
Gotta love all these LFR Andy's who, and I'm paraphrasing Max here "..they probably didn't watch a minute of that competition", but that are now all outraged as if the "bug" that Echo used somehow didn't come with huge risks, cause for those that didn't watch, which is all the whiners in this thread, it took them a solid 5hrs to getting it right, and even on that 28pull they were like 0.5sec away from wiping and losing everything. People think that just because the word "bug" is being used, that it must mean that they gained a HUGE advantage with ZERO risks, which is entirely false and in case that it's not clear btw, no amount of whining and crying about it is gonna disqualify them because as mentioned already, Blizz was not only told about it, but they allowed it to happen for 5hrs. Echo took a huge gamble, it paid off and now everyone is crying in LFR about it, when if you'd have seen how difficult it was for them to getting it right, you'd think twice about discrediting them, as if Echo is some nobody team that made it in the competition on sheer luck..
You mean people are trying to finish faster when part of the reward is based on speed, which Blizz continually pushes? And this has led to exploiting a bug? I'm shocked, shocked, I say. As usual Blizz creates most of these problems for themselves. I'm really hoping Dear Leader Ion is canned sometime soon. So much destruction of a venerable IP under his watch.
People are seriously arguing that Echo didn't exploit a bug? Did we not all just watch the same tournament? Like really, who didn't understand what happened here? We're legitimately going to sit here and admit that nothing happened? Honestly bro, you people are going to sit here and try to tell me that they didn't exploit an obviously unintended game mechanic that is rigidly documented on camera?Look: at least be man enough to acknowledge that a tournament was won today by a team that exploited a bug. Have enough self respect to come before public scrutiny and avoid making foolish enough statements to suggest no exploits occurred. The only question that remains is how we respond to the exploit. And really, I feel extremely sorry for the people here who think we're stupid enough to stomach as useless as an argument as "we all have access to the same exploits". What, seriously, 17 years later after this game is released and you guys are only now discovering that exploiting a bug is frowned upon? Jesus Actual Christ... some of you people.. surely you !@#$ing get tired being like this?
Guys ya know Blizzard set the rules in good faith for the sake of the competition, from start to finish - they have terms that get agreed to etc. Among those terms is a limited license kinda thing that's about whether and *when* blizz can apply patches , knowing what the schedule will be etc and how the teams are allowed to prep . . some grey area is just what happens in real time . "OK you can do it" . . The tournament is competitive for real. in the team gameplay bonding trusting kinda way that cannot exist on retail where there's grinding & gold & weeklies & farming IQD and icyveins & "best covenants" , stuff like that . Don't let a lil plaguefall spoil it . We don't play the same mythic plus competition. .
If this conversation follows u to other rooms , Try and Read the rules and terms for the competition. Official ones . It's up to u to digest it for us. Im sorry .
I don’t care what dratnos or mayzine or whatever his name was said but I am a 99.9% sure that echo did not explain what the MD bug was and all they asked is if snapping was allowed. “We asked blizzard” means nothing. This is not clever use of game mechanics. Its a bug. Announcers didn't even know about it and cant just instantly disqualify them. If you heard their reactions they were dumbfounded and were speechless at first because they had no idea what to do. Its up in the air what blizzards statement with this will be, if any. Frag has a cancel aura for MD and gingi made a weakaura for the snapped mobs exploding. These guys clearly know its a bug and obviously practiced it. They are masking mob snapping for the actual bug. Also, blizzard has already said tagging mobs through walls (probably because of how the maps are created) is allowed. If that was bug abuse, everyone who’s run Tol Dagor in BFA would've been banned rofl.
If Warcraft were for sale on Steam, there would be some very serious words to Blizzard from Valve going on right now.
