1. What was the purpose for the entire Sylvanas build-up?2. What was the ultimate goal of Jailer?3. Why did the hole in the Icecrown sky closed?4. How did Jailer not forsee his epic and ridiculous failure, after he outsmarted every being we have encountered from Warcraft's lore, nathrezim and Burning Legion included?5. What power stands behind Azeroth soul, so that he fought for it 'so badly'?I'm really not trying to be mean - possibly all these question can be answered in one vague way or another - but let's keep it straight: before 9.1 we were told that after the fight with Sylvanas in Sanctum of Domination our perception of WoW will be entirely different. We were told so in regards to 9.2 as well. Not only we received no answers, but more questions have arrived.I'm truly amazed by how bad the lore has gotten. It's surreal to me in some degree as I have always liked the story in WoW. I really can't get my head around the fact that people who write these most recent stories are still in power. What's more, they probably sketched the entire story arc for at least 2-3 expansion ahead, as recently it seems they fell in love with a concept of major story arc spread across a few expansion as 'chapters of one book'. This is mind-boggling. How can someone be paid, I guess quite some handsome money, for that fan-fiction quality content. Are these writers really convinced of their superior story-writing capabilites? The story has no purpose, no structure. Characters have no deep emotions, everything is either exaltation or hatred. They lack any development, which can even be achieved with one correctly designed dialog. But the worst part to me is that they ripped WoW off the mystery of existence - after all it's all about Shadowlands and prototypes. The enitre magic has gone *poof*.Players have been tortured with Sylvanas for years, and now it seems like they believed they will manage to get out of this swamp with no dirty hands, but since they were not able to do so, Sylvanas received some mediocre 'redemption' arc in some sort.Almost every major character has been involved in that expansion, and none of them received proper development. Anduin? Initially prisoner to become a mindless pawn. Sylvanas? Pawn all along with some pseudo-philosophical existential coaching. Jaina, Thrall, Baine? Nope. ARBITER? She's gone after a cinematic never to wake up again. They have a clear intention to go into the cosmic lore on even broader scale. That's possibly the worst direction ever. It requires some truly handsome writing skills to be able to pull off such huge concept and give it a purpose. After Shadowlands it's clear they aren't capable of doing that. Bring it back on Azeroth and never return to cosmic scene ever again. That's my wish.
What he says with his last breath is interesting. Also, look at how Blizz phrased their new expansion bluepost: "THE WORLDS OF WORLD OF WARCRAFT".The skybox also looks like a hint. A tear in the shroud revealing new stars, new worlds maybe.Maybe now is the best time to go explore other world, after a short stay on Azeroth, of course.
Nope been there since wotlk. Would have been nice tho if they at least showed something. But skybox is exactly the same (google icecrown and you will see)
I'll definitely miss Shadowlands.
that cloud shape in the third image kinda looks like a certain old god...
And thus we return to the status quo... Kinda... Anduin might be a little twitchy from being possessed like a sock puppet...but eh... he's Anduin. Too bad we don't know what the heck is going to happen to Sylvanas... but I guess we'll have to see based on the book.
The original sky was completely covered by clouds. Now there's a clearing you can see the sky through. That might have symbolic value.
End of the expansion boss and THIS cinematic is the type of effort put forth by the dev team? So much garbage it's not even funny.
I kinda like the implication, that thousands of years ago Jailer knew something bad is coming and wanted to stop it, but millenniums of imprisonment turned him into bitter cruel creature who doesn´t want to save the universe, but to control it.
The Lich King was obliterated for this expansion when he could have had a much more satisfying role and aid us against the void lords.
The Scenes itself are pretty epic, but it feels.. as if its cut down to 1 1/2 Minutes :I Storywise oof, people behind Lore are like "you think you know, but you dont" for years now and every time its exactly how people instantly thought it would turn out, disappointing, simple and predictable
To me, the ending cinematic looks like his past conversations with the other eternal ones. I hope that would be the case... Otherwise it just looks straight up "purpose"less.
It's the same skybox like before shadowlands, nothing new...
