Honestly the one major part of the crafted legendary system that I hate most is those base items and how weird of a system it feels (gold aside, which frankly is crazy easy to make with minimal world quest/treasure/emissary/mission table work)Imho the base items should have never been something that comes with a rank. Crafters should just be able to make a single base item for each slot available (as current), and that's it, no levelling it up.No having to craft 15 of them (PER SLOT) to be able to make rank 2's (and another to make 3's etc etc). Trying to make them yourself now, means you're at a loss of major mats (that can be sold for a decent amount of gold) until you're in pretty deep. Absolute joke of a system...If they just removed the ranks of the base item... and left it so you only need a single rankless base item when you created it... that'd be much better. Crafters could then be allowed to make UPGRADE ITEMS (the ones that already exist, but just required on item creation currently) that you apply to your legendary (with no slot defined), along with the usual ash+cinders etc at the runecarver. Being able to sell the upgrade item instead of the base item would allow new crafters a decent chance to get into the game late without sinking millions of gold beforehand :SThis would also make so much more sense too... like, why am I bringing him these brand new shoulders (or whatever item) along with my shiny orange ones to upgrade it?
Idk about the gold making crying... I've bought game time, expansions, other blizz games, etc. with gold since token was out without intensive gold farming. I simply do daily stuff, eventually at a later time with 2 or 3 alts when I've time that day too, and I can get around 2 tokens worth every month.
I may get lit up for this, but as someone who has invested about 15-20 million gold in leveling up all the leggos base mats, I am happy I will continue to be able to sell them. Anyone can do this. I started with 200k and slowly built it up over months until I capped it all out. Doing so has allowed me to provide all rank 6's to my server, posted on the AH at hefty markup to recover my costs. To take the sting out of the casual player, I constantly post in trade chat that I will heavily discount my prices if you deal with me directly, sometimes down to crafting cost plus tip allow people to play without buying tokens. Bottom line is that you all have the option to do what I did and get into the market. It will take time, and lost gold, but you will make it back eventually and begin making profit. OR you can leave the massive investment to us goblins, and pay us for our investment/risks. Like many point out, if you are a casual player doing +15s or heroic raiding, you do not NEED the cutting edge leggo ranks. You will be fine with a rank 4 or 6. For those of you who expect to min/max chances are you are out and about making gold passively, and can afford the high cost for a rank 7. If that still doesn't jive, reach out to the server crafters who will likely give you a discount. I know I do.
Then you end up needing the leggo in a different slot and have to start all over......
lol why.. this is killing economy.. i farm base items and sell auction house.. we need good economy in the game.
Maybe someone who has gotten these on PTR can weigh in on how long it takes to get the Essentia. Now I'm assuming it's going to be much easier to get 2 Essentia vs 40 Korthite, but if that's the case these should be pretty affordable compared to 9.1 rank 5/6.It really doesn't take long for the profit margins to shrink on new legendary ranks.
I like everything about the legendary system in Shadowlands except the cost of the base items.I get wanting to make professions relevant the entire way through but if you don't play the AH and source your own materials it can take literal months to get enough resources just to get enough to LEARN rank 4 recipes and craft a few for alts, let alone if you need to go after different armour slots. Not to mention about 32k gold in reagents.Honestly thing the base items should've been something that drops randomly from multiple sources like in Legion. Legion mostly sucked because the chance at a legendary was low AND it was random which one you got. If it was more the random chance is an item you can infuse with a specific power you obtain from a pre-determined activity, I think it would've been better received.
Will we still need to use korthian crystals for any reason in 9.2?
Mine are all "unsubscribed" rank. May take a few years and some decent content before they reach their final rank
as all my alts already commented earlier this expansion : the lead designer of this leg crafting should be burn (and both his managers and his team)-upgrade item should be able to be use on already crafted leg-upgrade item should be boeold min-max raiding guy definitly fed up.fu blizz
It's not that expensive. It's only expensive if you want it all and want it right now.
They really should (at minimum) design it so the base items are far cheaper to buy for players. And at most remove the base items completely for rank 7. I'm not "poor" but I have tons of alts, its not feasible to spend so much gold on all of your alts
This implies that we have to start over from noting to craft legendaries? You cannot upgrade 6 to 7? WTAF?
