This week, Dratnos and Tettles discuss Zereth Mortis and reputation grinding in World of Warcraft.
Dratnos and Tettles are back with another weekly GG WoW video, this time discussing the Enlightened Reputation grind in Patch 9.2. This was a grind that was first implemented a few months ago on the PTR which led to some confusion, as some players had interpreted an
earlier interview's statement
that no raid player power would come from the Cypher system to mean that no player power would come from any Zereth Mortis content, which is not the case. Initially, Blizzard placed the legendary belt behind Revered reputation, while adding a special item that grants you max level versions of all conduits if you can make it to Exalted AND earn one of three pinnacle seasonal achievements: Mythic Jailer, Keystone Hero, or Elite in PVP.
This led to some investigation of how the grind to revered would look in the first weeks of the patch, and concerns that such a large power spike gated behind that sort of grind would be very punishing for players who missed a day or two or weren't perfectly efficient in their rep grinding. Blizzard
reacted to this feedback
by moving the Legendary belt to the new campaign's Chapter 7 (Week 5 of the patch, Week 3 of Mythic) and placing the
Memory of Unity
, required to re-craft the power onto a non-belt slot and gain 30 or so item levels, behind Revered AND Chapter 7. Since Revered could be reached well before Chapter 7 would finish, this succeeded in creating some slack in the Rep grind and avoiding another Korthia.
Last week, Blizzard
reversed course again
by moving a bunch of the reputation to rares in Zereth Mortis, which meant that players looking to hit Revered by Chapter 7 would have had to kill sizable numbers of the rares every day, though there was still some room to be below 100% efficiency and get there on time. This was met with more backlash and led to the
most recent change
, which has reduced the Reputation gained from killing rares and increased the gains from other sources, making it feasible to hit Revered in time without killing any rares, though you can still kill them if you're rushing for Exalted or if you want to make up for some missed days.

I remember when they first implemented daily quest grinds in the original burning crusade expansion and I hated it then. I stopped playing after BC to shadow lands and I'm shocked they are still using this garbage and calling it gameplay.
Yes, totally believable that you stopped playing 13-14 yrs ago, yet still log in to wowhead and and comment on WoW content. Lol.
As people have pointed out, he said that he came back during Shadowlands. He complains because he's found the game in the same state as he left it 15 years ago
Sure, Jan.
