Actually, in the most recent PTR build (4.1.0.13750), it was added as a reward to some quest halfway through the 4.1 STV ZG questline. Funny thing is that you complete the quest where those rumors in vanilla started about where to get a panther mount, in that cave.

I'm current resigning at a 'lovely' server where no one is willing to share info on how to find the quest that leads to the new panther cub ... me and a friend are flying all over the place with little success it seems.

I was wondering if people here would be more willing to share info on where, the only thing they let lose was 'a cave whit a panther' but I'v checked em all and I can't find any caves with a big cat in it :|

Easily one of my favorite companion in the game. Unfortunately, with Blizz now making it so that companions don't unsummon when you zone, this can lead to some very sad moments. Zoned out of a dungeon after having this guy happily following my boss killing rampage, and i just happened to be flying.

Seeing this cute little fluff ball zone in midair next you only to plummet hundreds of yards to the ground is enough to make you have a horrible feeling of animal abuse and view yourself as the worst person in existence for the rest of the day... T^T

Panther Cub

Reward from Some Good Will Come (H) / Some Good Will Come (A) in Northern Stranglethorn.
Matching mount: Swift Zulian Panther, dropped by High Priestess Kilnara in Zul'gurub or Reins of the Nightsaber, vanilla Night Elf epic mount (no longer available).
Matching hunter pet: Panther, in Northern Stranglethorn.

Nightsaber Cub

Obtained from WoW TCG Twilight of the Dragons booster packs (common loot card, 1/11 chance of finding).
Matching mount: Reins of the Striped Nightsaber, Darnassus rare-quality faction mount. Alliance-only.
Matching hunter pet: Nightsaber, in Teldrassil.

Winterspring Cub

Purchased from Michelle De Rum for 50G in Winterspring.

So here I am flying from Swamp of Sorrows to Stranglethorn, finishing out old quests (Nat Pagle's Fishing, in this case) and I see a nifty looking lake. Fly over the ridge, oh hey, there's a cave there... and there's this tiny little bit of green... hover over it, and it says 'panther cub'. Read here, companion reward from a quest...

... now to see how much it's going for on the AH. Cause nothing beats learning lore and having a fun time than spending money to get something with no work.

Possible reference to the Doctor Who episode "The Empty Child"? In the aforementioned episode, there's a child with a gas mask attached to his face (huge black eyes) and the only thing he says usually is "Are you my mummy"?

Now, certainly a panther cub has nothing to do with the Doctor but you can't deny the description. Reading it had immediately led me straight to Wowhead to see if anyone else had made the possible connection.

While searching for the quest chain here on Wowhead I found it very confusing. Maybe it's just me. If anyone else is looking for this pet the quest chain for Horde starts in Org. You pick up "To Bambala" from Bwemba.

You DO NOT need to complete the "Bwemba's Spirt" quest chain in order to get the pet. She offers both quests, I picked up both but completely ignored "Bwemba's Spirt" and dropped it as soon as I completed the last quest, "Some Good Will Come", which gives you the pet.

It's possible I'm the only one who's confused about starting this questline as a horde character, but I thought I'd share my findings just in case there may be others in the same boat.

I couldn't find any info on Bwemba other than her being in Stormwind, which is great for Alliance but not for Horde. Flew around orgrimmar a bit and found her in the Valley of Spirits/Orgrimmar Embassy area. I don't have exact coords unfortunately, but if you're standing in front of the embassy, walk down the path to your right and she will be on your left standing in front of a gazebo.

This starts the questline which ends up giving the Panther Cub Pet, which goes as follows:
1) You accept her initial quest
2) To Bambala
3) Serpents and Poison
4) Spirits Are With Us
5) Nesingwary Will Know
6) Track the Tracker
7) The Hunter's Revenge
8) Follow that Cat
9) Mauti
10) How's the Hunter Holding Up?
11) Bury Me With Me Boots
12) Some Good Will Come

The pet is given as a reward for finishing the "Some Good Will Come" quest. You can abandon the questline here to get rid of the flying Bwemba ghost following you around. The whole thing takes about 10-15 mins total, super easy. Hope this helps someone!

By the way, if you're like my boyfriend and absolutely hate questing, but you really want the title earned from the Crazy for Cats achievement, you'll be happy to know that this pet is super easy to get and the questline up to this point is extremely short, especially if completed on a max-level character with max flying!

I am not opposed to questing; I actually enjoy it. So instead of buying the Nightsaber Cub TCG card like he did as his last cat for this achievement, I decided to try this quest option. I finished in about 10 minutes, from picking up the first quest Bwemba's Spirit, to looting the Panther Cub! (Needless to say, he was shocked and responded with "I should have done the questline." :P)

Hope this helped with your decision on which kitties to collect for the achievement, all you Crazy Cat Ladies/Men! :3

Just got my Panther Cub after scrolling for eons through confusing comments. Turns out it wasn't time consuming at all.
This is the sequence I did, as Alliance.

Accepted Bwemba's Spirit from Bwemba in Stormwind Harbour /way #84 26.0 29.6 Bwemba. I'm guessing you absolutely NEED this quest as it puts her ghostly form either on top of you or right in the way of whatever you're trying to click, BUT she gives you some of the quests in the chain. I ended up still having this quest in log, you don't need to complete it. Fly straight to Fort Livingston, you've got no business in the Cape of Stranglethorn and standing on top of Baron Revilgaz does nothing to help you get the pet.
I had already done To Fort Livingston apparently, no idea when.
Take quest Bwemba's Spirit and forget about it. The quests you DO want to complete are, in the order I did them in:
To Fort Livingston
