One of the old Justice Point heirlooms, which are being reintroduced with 6.1. It is currently sold by Estelle Gendry (H) and Krom Stoutarm (A) for 750g.

Both vendors sell all of the old Justice Point and heirlooms, including the new necklaces and upgrading tokens:
- Chests: 500g
- Shoulders: 500g
- Necklaces: 700g
- Trinkets: 700g
- One-Handed weapons: 650g
- Ranged & Two-Handed weapons: 750g
- Shields & Off-Hands: 500g
- Ancient Heirloom Armor Casing: 1,000g
- Ancient Heirloom Scabbard: 1,200g
- Timeworn Heirloom Armor Casing: 2,000g
- Timeworn Heirloom Scabbard: 5,000g

Edit: The heirloom prices are no longer affected by faction reputation!

This kind of item is new in Wrath of the Lich King, a Heirloom Item, what is currently known about Heirloom Items(Bind to Account)

Purchasable via dungeon tokens (similar to Badges of Justice)
Can be transferred to characters on your account (ie cannot be traded)
Only transferable to characters on the same realm
Items scale with level (see inset picture)
Scaling will make the item equivalent to a blue item of the characters level
Heirloom armor will transform based on the character who wears it. Therefore, a level 80 plate piece can be worn by a level 1-39 character who wears mail, but gains the ability to wear plate at level 40.

Only one downside to bows (compared to other items.) while you can boost shoulder armor with the drops from nax (if you get em before x-pack launches and old-world nax is gone forever) and melee/casting weapons can get pre-BC enchants on them like CRUSADER, bows can only get the scopes you can put on a level 1 bow. that is +1 damage. how sad.

Though I don't know the actual 1-79 stats of this or any other Heirloom item, it was said that items such as this would scale to be equivalent to rares/blues of the character's level. So I would imagine, especially for the lower levels, that this would hold you steady while leveling. Once you get higher you would likely replace it with epics/purples from instances though. I think a few good examples to help get an idea of how these would level was posted for Bloodied Arcanite Reaper.

Blue post: We intend to expand the types of ways that Heirlooms can be attained but for now they are only purchasable via Emblems of Heroism (the new BoJ) and Stone Keeper’s Shards, which are attained by killing any dungeon boss in Northrend while your faction controls Wintergrasp.

Heirloom items are a great, GREAT idea to make alt-maniacs like myself happy.

No more wasting TONS os money buying good items at AH to help your alt level faster and having to vendor them after 1 or 2 days!

This item is also one of the many new Bind to Account items.
This means you can send it to any character on your Realm/Faction.
When using a Character Realm Transfer these items will also follow you.

If you're curious as to how this item scales down with your character's level (for purposes of twinking or general curiosity), you can use the LINK button at the top of this item page to link the item in-game: the WoW client will automatically scale the item stats down to your character's level for you. I've just checked myself what the stats look like for a level 19 if you were thinking of twinking and the stats look like this.

19 level stats.

So comparing this with the Venomstrike it gives greater damage, it even has a critical strike rating of 1 where the Venomstrike doesn't so it's pretty dam neat.

Has anyone tested what scope you're able to apply to this bow? Since other heirlooms can have any pre-TBC enchant, is this scope able to have a Sniper Scope, giving it +7 damage, and then be used by a 19 twink? Or even a new Heartseeker Scope with 40 crit rating? Or no scope at all?

Hunter Twinks: At 29 this bow has 7 more RAP, .5% more hit, and .35% more crit than the Master Hunter's Bow, however it is .1 speed slower and has an 80 damage top end versus 96 for the quest reward. I haven't done the math with respect to whether that's an overall damage increase, but it will have to do with the ability to add scopes. If it's limited to ilvl requirement 1 scopes, then the Master Hunter's Bow beats it out by a large margin after applying a +7.

It may be worth it if you've levelled beyond the ability to get that quest reward for the 29 bracket.

I would also recommend checking out the DHC BoA version as well, if you're a guns type of person.

I was not even able to put a lowly Sniper Scope on this weapon. Since it counts as both Equip lv1 and iLvl 1, I'm assuming you can't put a scope on it at all since even the lowest lv req. Crude Scope requires lv5.

If blizzard allows people to put +15 agi and other Level 1 Enchants on the weapons, I'm sure in the future they will allow or reduce the level of Scope Requirments. It's not equal to have (One) Item have more power then another.

i understand this item and the other bind to account items scale but as you lvl you character does the item need to have anything done to it so that it stays current with the lvl of your toon (i.e does it rescale automatically)
could i also use this item with a toon say in the morning then send it to another toon for couple hours then send it back

my limited understanding of this subject leads me to believe that therotically i wouldnt have to buy a new wepon ever after getting this bow as it rescales to any toon im using it on is this correct or am i not on the right path at all?

You won't need to get a new weapon until you hit 80. Even at that point these weapons will hold out quite a ways, but will ultimately be beaten by heroic/raid/crafted epics.

Oooh so THAT is why steady shot doesn't seem as good as I've heard it should be and isn't doing the portion of my damage I was expecting it to while leveling my hunter (also as compared to seeing how it worked for hunters of my guild). Kinda silly, as I leveled from 29 to 74 with it so far. But this Steady Shot issue is a much, much bigger issue than the ability to use scopes, and I wonder if it's going to be fixed at any point, or if it is intended for some odd reason. I hadn't realized this was the reason for the low SS damage, because I hadn't use any other ranged weapons since I got this bow.

Just to give an example, I did a quick and really dirty field test (during which I managed to kill a rare in Coldarra without realizing it was rare, earning my Northern Exposure While at it) with a small sample size, I found the following (at level 74):
- G.E.H.T.A gun (76.5 DPS, 3.0 speed) with Impact Shot (22 DPS), average non-crit Steady Shot damage was roughly 570
- Charmed Ancient Bone Bow (94 DPS, 2.8 speed) with Blackflight Arrow (32 DPS), average non-crit Steady Shot damage was roughly 500

Given the 2-second cast time, that's a roughly 35 DPS difference, not to mention when factoring in crits and such. Given the discrepancy between ammo DPS and the small sample size (and that I started testing with low gun skill), it really isn't all that accurate, but it does point out that things aren't as you'd expect. With the gun, I did more overall damage %-wise with SS than Auto Shot, but with the bow, I did more with AS.

Definitely a dissappointing discovery, and means hunter alts might want to look elsewhere for ranged leveling weapons unless this gets fixed. It is still usable of course, and especially being BM I had no troubles with it given the pet is such a big part of my damage, but even so it's disappointing to find this out. Too bad I vendored Fury of the Raging Dragon before finding out about this. I guess I'll wait out for the bow from Hemet quests...

P.S. Made a ticket about this, and the GM said that while they didn't have any "investigations" about this particular item, they were looking into some other similar reports on other items. So, no definite answer from there.

P.P.S. Some further numbers - at 76, when this bow is 98 base DPS, for me it hits for about 590 per Steady Shot, while the Dragon Slayer's Shortbow (93.6 DPS) hits for about 725. Quite a difference.

Here's my question: With leveling hunter being easy street as is and actually leveling up to 70 being stupid easy, does the loss of dps really matter when you have a weapon that you wont need to replace? I mean I see where you are coming from from a twink stand point, but this is just a badgedump for leveling an alt. And i think it serves that purpose. Its not meant to make you top DPS charts in Wailing Caverns...

Confirmed... steady shot seems to scale off of the level 1 damage instead of your current level.

Confirmed, this bow becomes useless at level 50 when steady shot is introduced as a large portion of your dps.

Steady shot being based off the lvl1 Bow damage was a bug that was REPORTED on the PTR forums and RESPONDED and ACKNOWLEDGED by a blue poster that they would look into it, yet it is still bugged in 3.0.8.

No, you can't put scopes on this, but this is still a solid weapon for leveling a hunter because it scales and you don't have to keep replacing it; and because it has some stats on it that are hard to find at low levels.

The steady shot thing sucks, but 1-49 it's probably pretty solid. And hey, it's getting fixed!

(Notice: If you get this, mail it to a level 1 hunter, and notice that half the stats are gone, don't panic. It only has AP at level 1 stats and starts getting hit/crit later on.)

As of the current 3.1 PTR build, I was able to apply a Heartseeker Scope to this item and the crit rating is active even at level 1--or at the very least, it was reflected on the character sheet of a level 1 hunter that I had created (lol @ 77.71% crit chance!)

I did not have any other scopes on hand to test with but I assume any of the other scopes will work just as well.

I tried putting Greater Savagery on the Arcanite Reaper heirloom and no dice.

Am currently using a +40 Ranged Crit scope on this bow, i was able to apply the scope (bought from AH) to the bow on my hunter at level 72. Just gonna say that again so people understand me clearly.

- Bought the +40 ranged crit scope from ah
- Applied scope to the bow on my hunter, my hunter being level 72 at the time

No mailing to higher level characters to get the enchant to work, no trade window enchants. It went on with no errors or issues at all

Khorium Scope can be applied to this weapon. I tried the Diamond-cut Refractor Scope but that just gives the message "Target is too low level". I think the Stabilized Eternium Scope can also be attached to it, but I don't have a spare one lying around.

EDIT: Got the recipe for Biznicks 247x128 Accurascope tonight, made one, and yes it can be applied to the Charmed Ancient Bone Bow!

I don't know what everyone is saying with this being fixed, it isn't. Autoshot still out damaged steady shot while using this bow. I finally put in a ticket to get a refund on emblems. Now I can at least get some epic gems or something. Very sad this bow never worked.

I began tracking the difference in DPS compared to normal Auto-Shots. I recorded this data on my level 64 BM Hunter using two different bows.

Using Charmed Ancient Bone Bow for about 100 shots:

Auto Shot: Average Damage: 313
Steady Shot: Average Damage: 305
Difference: ~3% damage

Using Light Bow for about 100 shots:

Auto Shot: Average Damage: 133
Steady Shot: Average Damage: 220
Difference: ~40% damage

This is still a useful bow for leveling, but Steady Shot is doing about 40% less damage than intended. You may consider switching to Fury of the Raging Dragon once you reach Northrend and the DPS tradeoff becomes substantial.

UPDATE: Since then I've gotten to level 70 and tested this bow against Fury of the Raging Dragon. Surprisingly, the bow came out on top in terms of overall damage but Steady Shot still did less damage than Auto Shot. I'm starting to wonder if this lack of damage comes from the spell itself and not from the Bow,.

i went and made an account just so i can clear up this nonsense about steady shot not doing as much damage as your auto shot.

1) any hunter that is just spamming steady shot is a fool (your the reason why we're called huntards).
2) of course its going to be lower then your auto shot damage in a pve situation because your not wasting all your gcds on steady shot.
3) going and sitting on a target dummy for an X amount of time to test this weapon against say an icc weapon or the like is worthless course the amounts are going to be different. this bow wasn't given to us for end game raiding it was meant for those of us who like to spoil our alts.

On the topic that its steady shot damage is lower, nerfed, or just isnt working who cares. Blizz gave us a new toy to waste badges on imo that's great having nothing to waste them on in game. Just be happy that you have a new toy for your noob hunter and forget about it.

Why on earth has the cost of heirlooms skyrocketed in patch 4.0.1? They used to cost a large number of Emblems of Heroism which took a while to amass any excess of other badges to convert. Now with only a month or so to go before Cata release when people have little to do other than level alts, they suddenly cost at least 4x more than before!

The justification given is that at 85 we will miraculously be earning so many points that level 80 items become supercheap. Except I fail to see what possible justification or relevance this has to a level 80 trying to purchase level 80 items who does not own the Cataclysm expansion and furthermore Cataclysm is still many weeks away from release!

Its even more unfair to those who had been stockpiling badges to use for heirlooms and were just short of them before purchase.

Because...
The ingame tooltip and the scroll bar here only goes up to 80. The confusing thing is that the tooltip says that one thing.
On the other hand: Heirlooms were made for leveling. Even more confusing is the fact that Blizz increased the costs for all the WotLK heirlooms before Cata went live so I'd expect these more expensive items to be useful for Cata too.
Also confusing is the fact that guild heirlooms show a 1-85 scaling but don't replace any of the WotLK heirlooms.

Can anyone make this more clear ? I expect that the tooltip is correct but that'd make no sense.

It's worth noting that if you are twinking a level 10 Rogue or Hunter DON'T get this ranged weapon as ONLY +1 Agi shows up, The Hit/Crit don't show until you are level 11. Instead go run the quest in Ghostlands called Bring Me Kel'gash's Head! which will reward you the Well Crafted Long Bow that is superior in every way AT level 10.

So far, blizz hasn't changed the scaling on this weapon so you would be at a disadvantage if you use this because now all ranged weapons will have much more stats then this.

For a comparison here is the Naga Heartpiercer compared to the level 20 version of the Charmed Ancient Bone Bow.

So, being the curious sort, what with the new enchantment scaling and all, I was wondering about scopes on BoA ranged weapons. So, I got a flintlocks woodcutter (scope) made by a guildie. Since this is a level 80 enhancement for use by a hunter.. I sent the bow and scope to my lv 90 hunter, attached it to my Heirloom boa bow.. and mailed it back to my level 25 hunter.

The scope apparently works! The enhancement is not "red" indicating that I am not high enough level (80) to use this. I don't know yet what the enhancement scales to though, but it will attach and apparently works.

YES.. this actually WORKS! I just tried it out on a training dummy. It processed for 112 agility! That is a LOT of agility on a hunter weapon at lev 25.

As of 5.4 you can add a Gnomish X-Ray Scope to this. At level 12 my hunter was getting a 300 attack power buff from the scope.

Lord Blastingtons scope of doom does not work with with the weapon. You can have the weapon enchanted with it but the proc never happens.

As of 5.4 you can now use all weapon enchants. At lower levels enchants scale down for the content a player will be going through so high level enchants will not be broken for pve and pvp content alike. If you'r looking to transmog this on a new low level hunter (because it looks like crap imo) so keep in mind that the bow you pick for transmog Need stats! doesn't work with an uncommon one without stats like Precision Bow .

This can also be obtained at the Darkmoon Faire. In addition to trading in the Charmed Ancient Bone Bow, you'll need 160 prize tickets.

The new Bind to Account bow, the War-Torn Ancient Bone Bow, replaces the previous Charmed Ancient Bone Bow. You will need 3500 Justice Points and the Charmed Ancient Bone Bow in your bags. Please note, however, that the updated version does not increase any stats for the levels of 1-80, but instead the new mace continues scaling past level 80 to level 85.

You will, of course, need to enchant the new bow since the previous bow has been destroyed in the purchasing process.

I know some people feel that Bind to Account weapons are unnecessary in the leveling grind, since they do not offer an experience bonus; but you have to remember that, when you are able to kill the creatures swiftly, you will go through the majority of quests and dungeons at an increased rate, which directly transfers to a quicker leveling process! The fact that this particular weapon scales through 80-85 will allow you to get through the Cataclysm zones without much hassle or need to search for a new weapon until level 86!

Otherwise you will lose your expensive heirloom enchant on your Lvl 1-80 weapon :-(

This bow is a huge disappointment. I've used the non-upgraded (1-to-80 version) happily until I've graduated Northrend, and actually postponed levelling my hunter furthermore until I could afford the upgrade - on a server where I don't have a "main" as well, so I put a lot of Darkmoon effort into it.

Now that my upgraded weapon was at hand, I raced into the new zones, and was furious that one of the first quests that I obtained from the very first Cata zone I went into, Hyjal, awarded me Front-Line Blunderbuss.

At level 80, current dps of the War-Torn Ancient Bone Bow is 251.00, as reported by its tooltip, and is merely the half of Front-Line Blunderbuss.

Just to let everyone know before upgrading this piece, it will be inferior to the Cata items you will easily get. I hope things will change in a level or two... I understand that heirlooms would not be better than the blues you may obtain along the way, but come on this is the green newbie gun that you obtain 15 minutes into the zone

Edit: A bit better at level 81, now the dps of the Heirloom is 597, slightly better than the first quest gun

As of 5.4 you can add a Gnomish X-Ray Scope to this. At level 12 my hunter was getting a 300 attack power buff from the scope.

I only wish they would have included something for the 85-90 slot.

That being said this is a fantastic bow and can be obtained even F2P accounts thanks to Darkmoon Faire.

Even F2P accounts have access to this thanks to Darkmoon Faire. It will cost a grand total of 224 Darkmoon Prize Tickets. It is 160 for the Charmed Ancient Bone Bow and then an additional 64 and the Charmed Ancient Bone Bow to get War-Torn Ancient Bone Bow.

This may take a few months of doing the dailies and other quest that Darkmoon Faire offers, but it will be well worth the effort especially when you do move from F2P to a paid account.

If you have the cash to spend, you're better off buying Penate's Penance-Procuring Pistol than upgrading your heirloom bow to 85.

Here is a side-by-side comparison of the War-Torn Ancient Bone Bow at its maximum stats at level 85 vs. the Penate's Penance-Procuring Pistol, equippable at level 80. So the heirloom makes an even poorer showing sub-85.

Slap a Gnomish X-Ray Scope on it and you're set to melt enemies in PVE and PVP.

The heirloom bow's sole advantage is that you don't have to spend gold (or get insanely lucky with drops) to procure it and are able to recycle it over and over.

Blizzard has nerfed twink items like Penate's Penance-Procuring Pistol since I last made this comment and it is no longer accurate. The heirloom is now competitive with the twink item.

As of 6.1 I can confirm that you can use an Oglethorpe's Missile Splitter on an Heirloom Bow or Gun (as long as you're a high enough level to use the scope, 91 in this case) and mail the scoped weapon back to your low level alt. I'm guessing the other 2 WoD scopes would also work. I also tested the MoP mirror scope too.

At level 7, the missile splitter gave 17 Multistrike when it procced. So like other enchants, it scales with level. I like to give my lower level alts Versatility and Multistrike when using WoD enchants on their heirlooms because I can get haste or crit from the gear itself, and mastery's not useful until the 80's. Besides that, having a balanced set of stats makes characters more well rounded imho, and the extra burst from multistrike at lower levels is fun for me.
