Are there any new playable races or classes?
There is no new
playable
races, but there is a new class (a hero class, see
Death Knight
).
What is a hero class?
A hero class is a specialized class which excels in a particular area or is tied deeply into Warcraft lore. The first hero class is the Death Knight. Blizzard does not plan to introduce a new hero class with each subsequent expansion, though they do want to add more in the future. These unlockable classes are generally the classes from the previous Warcraft games which were deemed too powerful to play from the beginning of the game.
What is a Death Knight?
A fallen knight who was raised from the dead by the Lich King himself. They use dark magical powers by carving runes into their special blades. They are an unlockable hero class available to players with characters at least level 55. They can be damage dealers and tanks (without the use of shields). Death Knights wear plate and use a new energy system (runes + runic power) to regulate their abilities.
Are there new factions or reputation grinds like in The Burning Crusade?
There are several new factions, including
Kirin'Tor
(Dalaran). For a complete list, check out our
Factions
section.
Are there new professions?
There is one new profession called
Inscription
