The Big Bag Guide

The Burlap Trail: To Burlap Waystation sometimes glitches and the Grummles either won't show up, won't move, or move backwards. If this happens to you try to abandon the quest and pick it back up. If that doesn't work put in a ticket and go get other bags!

You've obviously put a lot of work into a complete list.

Here are some suggestions for enhancing what you've done. These aren't meant as criticisms just ideas for improvements.

Issue	Fix	BBCode example
Plain headers	Mark each table's first row as a header.	\
Inconsistent column width for similar tables	Set each table's header row to a common width=nn% for each column, leaving the last to be computed. Use a percentage of the table's width. You don't need the width parameter on the later rows.	\
Make comparing bags easier; Reduce looking up & down	Add a number of slots column to each table.
Consider adding a type column to the Profession/Item Type tables (including generic).
Avoid tab switching during comparisons	Consolidate small (1-3 row) tables together.
Reserve tabs to split large tables when the reader isn't comparing between them.
"Item Type Specific"	You might want to add a note that there aren't specific bags for Alchemy, Tailoring, and others left out.
You might want a title like "Item Type (Profession) Specific".
"Quick guide for level 90+"	Include Embersilk Bag, at 300-500g on the AH as many 90s may prefer to buy than grind.
Consider including Royal Satchel so the rich know their max.
Merge the H2 header and toggler.	\ \ Quick Guide for Level 90+ \\ \ Quick content here. \
Vendor	Add high-end vendor bags like Portable Hole.
Future proofing	Show how to do a filtered search for generic bags from vendors to find the latest information.

I think it would be a little better having the proffesion made bags on the top, as they are most popular!

I wish I had this guide when I was buying bags haha, good work!

Comment by wishfordead

Thank you, great guide!

It really saves you a lot of time :)

Comment by Catitude

Oh great Guide :D
Here is another missing one just to help fill in the gaps.

Gem Bag > 24 slot > Bag of Jewels > Tailoring 340 > Consortium

Comment by cerabella

Great guide, especially the addition of the Quick Guide for 90s. I agree with IsaacHead about putting profession made bags at the top. Unless it was your intention that people look over the rest of the guide before getting to what I am sure most are looking for.

Comment by Sheiabah

Great guide really helpful thanks! :)

Just one really small bugbear....its Vendor not Vender :)

Comment by 1219628

This guy actually helped me out a lot. Finally know what bags to get and more important how to get them. Was struggling to get some nice inventory space for a long time now. Thanks for the effort you put into that guide :)

Comment by Zarac

Great guide, looks neat.

On the herb bags the id for Mycah's Botanical Bag is wrong, pointing to Imbued Netherweave Bag.

Comment by 1248410

With my Pedant Hat on, I would also considering adding the following:

Halaani Bag (18 Slots) from Outland
Mooncloth Bag (16 Slots, bind free)
Traveler's Backpack (16 slot, bind free)
plus Wayfarer's Knapsack (16 slot)

All of these are reasonably easy to obtain in game, require simply time and no raw materials, and are simple and ineffective ways for players to get a decent range of bag sizes. Plus, with the incoming changes to storage space in game, bags will no longer be at a premium.

All of these are free, just require a bit of effort :D

Comment by brionl

You should add a note for the Quiver of a Thousand Feathers. The recipe isn't in the game any more, it can only be created by Leatherworkers who learned it before it was removed in Cataclysm.

Not that it's all that great a bag anyway.

Comment by mvuke

Great list, but I don't see the Leatherworker's Satchel anywhere on your list. Am I missing it, or is it missing? ;)

Comment by Traynwreck

This guide is phenomenal!

Thank you bunches for all the hard work ^_^

Comment by enzd1

Whenever I need to know what the best bag is for what and where to get it, I immediately go to this guide. Nicely done and thank you for making it.

Comment by 1057174

A bit old but Ancient Sinew Wrapped Lamina can still be used by hunters that did it way back, it is a 24-slot bag

Comment by LeCrazyMaffe

You've listed the Kor'kron Supply Satchel as required level 90

Which isn't true, you can even get this bag on a trial account. If you are grouped with someone who can kill the mobs, you can loot this items on a lvl 1. Love the guide anyway

Comment by 244075

Zul Aman is really easy to solo now, I got the bear with like 10 minutes to spare.

Comment by lankybrit

This guide really should be updated with:

Hexweave Bag

Comment by derby31

Leatherworking has new 36 slot Inscription, Leatherworking and Mining bags added in WoD that should be added.

This is a great guide.

Comment by Asile

I have used the profession bags for increased bank storage in the past, but now, with the "Deposit All" button in the reagent bank, it transfers all of the items in these bags to the reagent bank. I'm curious, how are others using profession bags post-WoD? Is there a way to limit the deposit all button so that it leaves these bags alone?

Comment by 646436

I don't use deposit all anymore, but drop mats on the bag I want them in. Anything for the reagent tab, I right click so they go there. This is about the only way I can see to do it. Because if you right click or use deposit all everything goes on reagent tab, ignoring any mat bags your using.

Hope Blizz fixes this so game will recognizes where we want stacks at.

Should add Ogre Diving Cap non-binding 20 bag, in Nagrand (64.7, 35.7) under the bridge.(##RESPBREAK##)16##DELIM##Sas148##DELIM##

Comment by 1442829

Comment by billymm

nice guide, thankyou for putting the time in to write it up

Comment by 1487822

Nice work, though the guide should be renamed to The Big Bag Theory in my opinion.

Comment by Ashirin

In case you wonder where else to get large bags for little effort:

Questline: ~ 20 minutes
Grummlepack (24 slot) from a questline starting with Traffic Issues in Kun-Lai Summit Mists of Pandaria

Raids: each ~ 2 minutes once you are there. Soloable level 90+ and 100% drops
Dragon Hide Bag (22 slot) from The Obsidian Sanctum in Dragonblight Entrance under the Wyrmrest Temple
Pit Lord's Satchel (20 slot) from Magtheridon's Lair in Hellfire Peninsula Entrance bottom of the wall in the center of the map, eastern side
Enlarged Onyxia Hide Backpack (22 slot) from Onyxia who can be found in the raid in Dustwallow Marsh

Dungeons: ~ 10 minutes
Tattered Hexcloth Bag (24 slot) from The Hex Lord's Fetish Zul'Aman Dungeon 85 heroic

Treasure Item:
Ogre Diving Cap (20 slot) in Nagrand Warlords of Draenor

Comment by Viertis

I know this is kinda old but its obviously after cata, you can do zul aman for a 24 slot bag guaranteed quest item

Comment by 1529874

Not sure if someone already mentioned, and also not sure if still valid, but wasnt there a bag from the dungeon quest in Zul'aman, i believe? Or did they patch that one out?
Sry if its not valid anymore ;)

Comment by Medius

Thanks for the good guide.
in my opinion, the best bag for players with less gold, is the crafted 16-slot Netherweave Bag ( Netherweave Bag ).
16 slots are a good start, and the costs are very low, still today. You get the mats or the bag in auction houses for just a few gold (3-10 g).

Comment by Guildmaster

Fix: Papa's Brand New Bag is 22 slots, not 24.

Comment by Aaahead

Based on preliminary information, Legion introduces two tailor-made general-purpose bags, and Silkweave Satchel, a one-per-character Madman's Luggage (possibly sold by a vendor for 100,000 gold), and three bind-on-pickup general purposes bags: Addie's Ink-Stained Satchel, Crane Bag, and Vile Stalkerskin Pouch.

Comment by xRodge

Great guide!

If I'd change anything, I'd add details of the base bag which is the Netherweave Bag
Always ultra cheap and easy to make on every server, since the only non-vendor item required is Netherweave Cloth. This cloth is always very available since people commonly solo TBC raids and pick up tonnes of the stuff.
At 16 slots, it's the base that most people work with these days.

Other than that - great work here!

Comment by 1515614

I killed my first small bunch of mercenary engineers and i got it :)

Comment by bpmike83

There's a new quest and 26 slot bag in Legion. The quest is called Note-eating goats and the bag is called Addie's Ink-stained Satchel.

Comment by Impartiale

Hi All,

To date (January 5th 2018), the largest bags you can get for free are:

26 slots: Addie's Ink-Stained Satchel
This bag is a reward from the quest Note-Eating Goats in Highmountain
No prerequisite for this quest; takes you about 30 seconds once starting to talk to Addie.

24 slots: Kor'kron Supply Satchel
They drop from 90+ Kor'kron humanoids in Northern Barrens
The droprate is quite low; can take up to an hour if you're really unlucky. On average should be around 10-20 mins if done at good speed.

24 slots: Tattered Hexcloth Bag
Reward from quest The Hex Lord's Fetish in Zul'Aman in Ghostlands
Make sure to set dungeon difficulty to Heroic.
Takes about 5 minutes once in the dungeon.
You are required to kill two bosses in order to unlock access to Malacrass.
Killing the final boss Daakara is the quickest way to turn in the quest since the NPCs move to the end when Daakara dies.

24 slots: Grummlepack
Reward from quest No Pack Left Behind in Kun-Lai Summit.
Part of a questline that will take you about 15 mins.
According to Leobolin's advice: start by talking to Brother Lintpocket and do his quest The Burlap Trail: To Burlap Waystation
Then, do quests The Rabbitsfoot, The Broketooth Ravage and finally No Pack Left Behind

Lesser options:

22 slots: Dragon Hide Bag, 1 minute once there, from The Obsidian Sanctum in Dragonblight. Entrance under the Wyrmrest Temple
22 slots: Enlarged Onyxia Hide Backpack, 5 minutes once there, from Onyxia who can be found in the raid in Dustwallow Marsh
20 slots: Pit Lord's Satchel, 2 minutes once there, from Magtheridon's Lair in Hellfire Peninsula. Entrance bottom of the wall in the center of the map, eastern side

Comment by Caribald

Seems to be missing WoD craftables (with leatherworking) in Item Type (Profession) Specific:

Burnished Inscription Bag
Burnished Leather Bag
Burnished Mining Bag

All 36-slotters (so tied for best bag with others on the top 3 lists)

Comment by Pankga

amazing guide, thank you!

Comment by yzq85

Some updated info:
1) Due to questing changes, the Grummlepack questline can be done from level 82 onwards (down from original 87+).
2) Ogre Diving Cap requires at least level 98 before you can get it.
3) New 28 slot bag drops from Totes, a goat found in Tiragarde Sound. Alliance characters can fight him as low as level 110 (i.e. new to the expac), while Horde characters will always face him at level 120.

Comment by zhondria

Hey, once you are Revered with the Voldunai, you can also buy a Pack of Many Pockets (30 Slot) for 2550 Gold from the reputation vendor. This bag might be slightly more expensive than Hexweave Bag

Comment by 1696574

You can say that this guide bagged it xD

Comment by TegoZanduba

In BfA, you can now get the 28-slot Goat's Tote, a guaranteed drop from Totes up in the hills on the northern edge of Tiragarde Sound.

Comment by jokebakker

As a leatherworker, I miss the three WoD 36-slots profession bags:

Burnished Leather Bag (materials: 50 Burnished Leather 10 Sorcerous Earth)
Burnished Mining Bag (materials: 50 Burnished Leather 10 Sorcerous Earth)
Burnished Inscription Bag (materials: 50 Burnished Leather 10 Sorcerous Air)

Comment by Hirokumata

Papa's Brand New Bag has incorrectly indicated as having 24 slots but (unfortunately) it only has 22 slots :)

Comment by rvnender

Upon looking at this guide it seems that Blizzard needs to add more bag space.

Comment by Unicorn437

Shadowlands pre-event is dropping a 34 slot bag, making it bigger than any generic bag on the list!

Comment by RedSquirrel

Another new "big bag" ... Papa's Mint Condition Bag
A brand new bag, and tied for largest bag in the game, available only as a ~20% drop from the rare-spawn Bronjahm during the pre-patch event taking place in the couple of weeks leading up to the launch of the Shadowlands Expansion.

Comment by SpareSimian

A wonderful BoA 22-slot bag that can be sent to an alt on any server and faction: Mardivas's Retention Dimension Invention

You may want to add:

Comment by Stargazer777

Don't forget the Otherworldly Bag, Mysterious Bag, Spellfire Bag, and other enchanting bags! Thanks for the great guide!

Comment by sildani

For Profession-made, you can get Azureweave Expedition Pack as of 10.0.5.

Comment by Seldaron

With the Diablo IV Event you can get now an even bigger bag with the Horadric Haversack
Also is this missing Misty Satchel which you can get in the first area of the Dragon Isles behind a waterfall.

Comment by PriestessAur

Love this guide, but any chance it will get updated? It could stand some pruning of older bags that are not really considered "big" anymore and we have lots of new bags now available in The War Within
