considerablyPvP Gear Levels

Basic Gear: Warlords of Draenor has introduced a new tier of PvP gear -- Wild Aspirant's gear is the "basic" tier at ilvl 625. In PvP, it automatically scales up to ilvl 700. This has a chance to be Warforged, adding 6 ilvls to both numbers.

Honor Gear, so called because it's purchased with , is the next tier up. This season's gear is called Wild Combatant's gear, is ilvl 670 in PvE, and scales to ilvl 710 in PvP. This has a chance to be Warforged, adding 6 ilvls to both numbers.

Conquest Gear, purchased with , is Wild Gladiator's Gear. This epic-quality gear is the top level of PvP gear, excluding purely cosmetic Elite gear. It is item level 700, and scales to ilvl 730 in PvP. Conquest gear cannot be Warforged.

Random Battleground Strongboxes: these drop from random battlegrounds whether you win or lose. Strongboxes are awarded at different point levels in battlegrounds, so at 500 points you'll get a Bronze Strongbox, 1000 points will award a Silver Strongbox and winning the battleground with 1500 points will grant you a Gold Strongbox. These strongboxes have a higher chance to award better gear as they increase in quality, so a Gold box is more likely to have Honor-level gear in it, , or maybe even than a Bronze Strongbox.

Skirmish Strongboxes: Skirmishes, solo queued unrated arenas, also have a chance to drop Strongboxes, but only if you win. These strongboxes are the same as the Battleground ones, but there's no way to be sure what quality you might get.

Ashran Strongboxes: Dented Ashmaul Strongbox and Dented Ashmaul Strongbox have a chance to contain Aspirant gear. These are awarded when you turn in items for reputation, or when you complete a Bons Event in Ashran.

Gladiator's Sanctum Level 2 Work Orders: The Gladiator's Sanctum garrison building is a great source of Aspirant's and Combatant's gear. At level 2, you can place up to 14 Work Orders in exchange for Broken Bones at a rate of 10 per work order. These work orders are extremely lucrative for players wishing to collect PvP gear, as they award Aspirant's gear at a very high rate, as well as large quantities of and gold. Broken Bones are awarded from PvP kills on Draenor, at an approximate rate of 4-6 per kill. Unfortunately this means you can't get them from Battlegrounds or Arenas, but you can get them in Ashran. For more information, see our Gladiator's Sanctum Guide.

Honor Gear Acquisition

: The main way to obtain Honor gear, can be turned in at Fobbly Kickfix for the Horde in Warspear, and Warlord Noktyn for the Horde in Ashran. The Alliance vendors are Slugg Spinbolt in Stormshield and Marshal Karsh Stormforge in Ashran. The below also cover how to earn Honor Points.

Random Battlegrounds: In addition to the Strongboxes, which are covered below, Random Battlegrounds award Honor Points just for participation. Winning or engaging in a lot of battles will award you more, which makes Random Battlegrounds the fastest way to earn Honor. You can queue into Random Battlegrounds with a premade group of up to 5 people.

Ashran Strongboxes: Killing the enemy's faction leader in Ashran awards a Ashmaul Strongbox or Ashmaul Strongbox each time.

Gladiator's Sanctum Level 2 Work Orders: The Gladiator's Sanctum garrison building is a great source of Honor gear. At level 2, you can place up to 14 Work Orders in exchange for Broken Bones at a rate of 10 per work order. These work orders award large quantities of and gold, as well as having a chance to award Honor gear that can be Warforged. Broken Bones are awarded from PvP kills on Draenor, at an approximate rate of 4-6 per kill. Unfortunately this means you can't get them from Battlegrounds or Arenas, but you can get them in Ashran. For more information, see our Gladiator's Sanctum Guide.

Ashran: Completing objectives on Ashran has a chance to award Honor Points. Artifact Fragment can also be turned in at any of the Artifact Fragment NPCs in the Ashran Staging Area for Honor Points at a 1-1 ratio, so farming those in the side areas of Ashran is a good source of Honor. You can also use a Disposable Pocket Flying Machine to hand them in automatically. Beware - if you are looted by a player they'll take half your fragments!

New to 6.2 are Bonus Weekends. The Arena Skirmish Bonus Event allows you to earn Honor at triple the normal rate in Arena Skirmishes and Battleground Bonus Event allows you to earn Honor at triple the normal rate in Random Battlegrounds.

PrimalConquest Gear AcquisitionChampion's Strongbox

: the main way to obtain Conquest gear is turning in . The vendors are Cladd Dawnstrider for the Horde and Amelia Clarke for the Alliance, in Warspear and Stormshield respectively. On Ashran itself, the vendors are Marshal Gabriel for the Alliance and General Aevd for the Horde, located in the factions' respective staging areas.

Rated Arenas: Rated Arenas are the most popular way to earn . Each arena win will award 180 Conquest Points up to the weekly cap of 1500 (1700 with the extra 200 for "winning" Ashran). Increasing your rating above 1597 will increase the weekly cap available to you.

Rated Battlegrounds: Rated Battlegrounds allow you to earn more Conquest Points -- 400 per win, and between 0 and 200 per loss, depending how close it was. However, they're less popular than arenas, as they require a premade group of 10 to enter. The weekly cap for Rated Battlegrounds was higher than the Rated Arena cap in Mists of Pandaria, but in Warlords of Draenor they're the same -- you can collect your initial 1500 Conquest Points however you want. If you win three rated battlegrounds in a week, you will receive Champion's Strongbox.

Rated Battlegrounds also have a chance to award a piece of Conquest gear from your first three wins per week, but you can only win one piece per week.

Ashran: 6.2 has brought some changes to Ashran. Events no longer grant Conquest, but several quests have been added that do.

What should I get first?

PvP Trinket - if you do not play a Human and do not already have a "Freedom" trinket such as Wild Combatant's Medallion of Cruelty this should be your first purchase. There are four versions offering different stats alongside the CC removal, so choose wisely! Although this is a vital item, once you own one it is the one you should upgrade last, as it has less stats than other pieces.

Weapon - if you already have a Freedom trinket or play a Human this should be your first purchase as it will have the greatest impact on your performance. For Honor points, the "season total earned" requirement has been removed, meaning they can be bought far more quickly than in previous seasons. Shields and off-hands cost 0 Honor Points (currently 0 for a tank shield but this is likely to be fixed)

Main Hands cost 0 for Strength and Agility classes and 0 for Intellect classes who use 1250 shields and offhands

2-hands cost 0 for all classes.

After you have your weapon and Freedom trinket, the second trinket should be purchased, as it's likely to give you a good amount of a useful stat.

Next, start building your 2-set and 4-set. Look at all the bonuses and consider what's right for you. Note: In Warlords, Honor and Conquest gear has been introduced that does not have set bonuses but has different secondary stats. This can be useful for different specs, and you should build around those pieces.

Finally, supplement your set with off-set pieces.

Note: If you're a healer, you may want to consider off-set pieces like rings, cloaks and necks as a higher priority than your set bonus, depending on your mana regeneration and the quality of your set bonuses. These pieces are the only ones with Spirit on them.

Some thoughts if your not yet level 100, but 90+

Level ~90 PVP Gear crafted by players has a horrible ilvl and prob isn't worth it at all since your really into just leveling and the quest will provide uncommon and rare armor for you as you jump into WoD.

Level 91: You can buy up to 3 pieces of "Warlords Crafted (3)" which is PVE, but they are a great way to supplement some ilvl 630 gear until your level 100. I suggest buying 3 from this category: 2h Weapons, Chest, Leggings, Helmet. The reason is all of these cost the most Honor points.

Level 91 to 99 - you will Upgrade your gear as you go it's normally 3-5k to buy the Essence upgrades for your Warlord Crafted armor, so if you have the spare change go for it as it will make leveling easier, but eventually all of this will be replaced with PVP Alternatives so this is optional. Start doing occasional BG's like 1 a day along the way while your leveling to gain up honor in a 91 to 99 environment before you get into the level 100 environment.

Level 100: Hopefully by the time your hit level 100 you have saved up 4000 (cap) of honor points to spend on gear right away.
Personally I purchased 2 trinkets and a ring to start off, This allows you to buy 3 items to start off with and the 2 trinkets allows you the set bonus.

Make sure to do the weekly quest for Asharan since it could drop a ilvl700 pvp upgrade for ya, and easy conquest points. If you get frustrated or getting run over too much you can switch to BG's for a bit.

My Upgrade Path was as follows:
Trinket 1
Trinket 2
Ring 1

Then I started replacing the lowest ilvl gear first, Once I had only the 3 pieces of Warlords Crafted Left I replaced my Sword with the honor sword nad working on replacing the rest. Remember if your PVPING then your interested in the PVP stats of the gear not the "normal" stats so don't get confused and think some of that ilvl 640 crated armor is better then that Wild Aspirant's Gear ilvl 625 gear as once your in pvp mode that 625 jumps up to 670.

Asharan is my favorite spot since their is Honor, Drops, Conquest all viable, so try it first and if you can get in a good run stay there all night, but if you get into a very one sided match bail and reque or move on to BG's and try again later.

Also note that normally your limited to 1500 conquest points per week or more if your 1600 rating or higher arena, but once you frist get to level 100 you get a bonus cap of a extra 4000 that carry over.

Also something that wasn't mentioned you need to look for a startup guide on here or elsewhere to smooth out your rotation and gear on how to play your class in pvp. It's a very different world from pve and we welcome you too it!

Thanks

For plate wearers like paladins, are the plate gloves better or the scaled gauntlets (for the set bonus)?
