What goes with alchemy well?

Besides the obvious herbalism, are there any professions that are especially synergetic with alchemy? I want to make as much gold as possible. I don't really care about any other advantages the profession might give. Thanks

Since it seems you already have an herbalist, you could always go with a solo crafting prof (tailoring or maybe enchanting) or another profession that relies on herbalism (inscription).

Inscriptions for darkmoon cards and for the fortune cards used for fortune cookies, some glyphs sell really well, but don't depend on that, plus you don't have to grind Therazane to exalted for the shoulder enchant with inscriptions.

Jewelcrafting, once you're at max for both. I make great money transmuting inferno rubies and then cutting them. Of course, it's not required that both profs are on the same toon.

Besides Herbalism there really isn't any others that need to go with it. I also agree JC would be a good one to have.

I grabbed Engineering. It's extremely expensive to go that route, but well worth it.

For profession synergy, the obvious one is jewelcrafting - you can prospect cheap ore into uncommon gems, them transmute the desirable colours (red, orange and purple mostly) into rare gems, cut & profit!
If you're transmute specced (and, unless you're the guild flask-bot, you should be), you'll get the occasional free gem proc too, for even more profit.
There's no limit on how many times you can transmute cata blue gems as long as you can find enough cheap herbs & ores.
There's a good chance you'll be able to transmute rare to epic gems as well when they come along for...hopefully epic profits;)
Otherwise, anything that uses lots of elemental mats will benefit from being able to transmute cheap volatile life into the others, tailoring especially - using your daily transmute cooldown (+procs) should get you enough volatiles to make all 5 weekly dreamcloth at a price that makes the tailoring epics profitable to sell, and there will probably be new recipes with new patches, so stocking up on dreamcloth is a good idea.
Everything I said above probably applies to blacksmithing using truegold as well, but not having a max level BS I can't say for sure.
And come to think of it, enchanting has a few very profitable recipes that use volatiles as well...basically anything that isn't leatherworking will benefit...

Engineering is awesome, and always worth it. I have engi+alch on two toons now, but other than a cheap supply of volatile air they don't do much for each other as professions, but are a great combo for PvP or PvP.
