You clearly have no idea of what you are talking about. You have yet to demonstrate a reason as to why they should be independent. Obviously the idea of other countries' failures with becoming independent did not sink in with you.
Because we already have a working government.
Because we have enough facilities in our borders to deal with social problems.
Because we have natural resources, the plants to refine them and the transports to carry them to economical partners.
In a nutshell, we cover a lot of the tools required to be a successful country.
Is it gonna be easy ? no.
Do I think some sectors of our society and of our economy will suffer ( mainly mining and lumber like adamsm pointed ) ? yes.
But we were ready before the 1st referendum and we still are. ( and probably more since some of our provincial economic resources like tourism became way more profitable these last 3 decades. )

Still don't ever see it happening, but I don't see any of the provinces, even Alberta(that is out richest one) ever being able to successfully separate from the rest of the country, just because it goes from 'cheap' to expensive to transport the materials to the 'new' trading partners, who would probably gouge Quebec to the limit.
Canada itself already get's it from our largest 'trading' partner to the south after all, which is what Quebec would be stuck trading with at first...unless you think that some of the current trading partners are going to go for Quebec over Canada heh.

Mkay, did some reading, and I've got to ask:
Does Quebec really think it will be better off being separate from the rest of Canada? That in my mind would be the primary reason for any state to demand independence.
As far as I can see the primary reason is due to a certain percentage of the population being concerned that Quebec culture is being dissolved into the larger surrounding cultures. I can understand cultural pride and I could definitely understand if Quebec was originally a separate state to Canada (it wasn't) but this seems rather....flippant...
Especially as it isn't there as much as they say it is; New Brunswick and most of Ontario does the dual language thing, with signs in both English and French all over the place...not to sure about Labrador but it's probably there too heh. And French is our second most spoken language after all.

It's been established that I believe Quebec has a better chance to succeed than fail, but just because you can be independent
why do you want to be independent?
That question's answer can't be summarized so I'll give my own opinion on it.
Right now, we have 4 important federal parties in Canada. The New Democratic Party and the Quebec Block, I like the projects and ideas of both of them but I am realistic, they will probably never have the power or popularity to elect a prime minister. The Liberal Party with a leader I and as far as I know, it still too chaotic to get power. And the Conservative Party, quite unpopular in Quebec, with political ideas I don't agree with it ( and since Mr Harper, the prime minister, decided to keep canadians soldiers in Irak without asking a vote in the chamber. I don't respect him as a politician anymore ).
Sadly, the Conservative Party is well established in power and I am pretty sure they'll stay in power for while. And even if the Liberal Party beat them in the future, I don't think it'll be much better.
That's why I would like to be independent. Other peoples wave the flag of cultural radiance or identity protection.

And no offense Kramp, but even the Bloc got into power, it would more then likely be the same thing; going independent wouldn't really change it that much...and opens Quebec up to a metric *!@# ton of more problems.
Edit: Honestly, even thought we have the multi-party system up here, we suffer from the same thing as our neighbors to the south; call them what you want, but they are similar to one another, with a small personal differences.
And the 'bleeped' out ton of problems is one any 'new' country would end up with, with it requiring to gain the 'new' trading partners, but still somehow match what Canada is already putting out...which, largest province or not, it's can't do; Ontario, the Territories, BC, and all the rest can out produce one province easily, and the fishing from the Maritime provinces will cancel out there.
Separating doesn't help, and would make Quebec possibly look like a whipped dog if it failed miserably and returned to the native country after the unsuccessful separation(my own two cents, not bashing your French Canadian national pride).

I have to add this in, and I'm sorry if it insults the Quebec'ers but.....France makes fun of French Canadian french speech; calling it low class, and the rest. And it's true, just like how the 'English' spoken in American and Canada is nothing like the English spoken in Britain, the same thing is true for the Quebec french and the actual french speak of France.

If cultural identities are what makes a country, New York would have left America a hell'a long time ago. That whole thing about the National Anthem? I have never once sung the National Anthem in my entire life. Hell, I can't even remember half the words off the top of my head. It's about more then that. There's really no benefit I see in Quebec leaving Canada, not that I'd care much either way.

As for the National Anthem....that just makes me sad then; my elementary school alternated every few days between the English and the French versions of the Anthem, and it was the same thing for High School.
See...this is why I put what I did on the first page; the Quebec'ers have been like this for a long time; had they started up their own country, it probably still would have ended up as part of Canada...or even possibly as the States(god that would have sucked). I'm fine with provincial pride, I have it for Alberta where I was born, and not a fan of Ontario, but I still love my country, no matter how screwed up it is.

There was a battle of Quebec... but it was led by freaking Benedict Arnold, so it's no wonder the Americans got owned =P
I'm fine with provincial pride, I have it for Alberta where I was born, and not a fan of Ontario, but I still love my country, no matter how screwed up it is.
And yet you try to stain others pride in their country, even if it is messed up. Less hypocrisy please.

What can I say, I don't like the way American government does things, and I try to not bash the people themselves; even in our 'discussions''arguments' I didn't attack you Funden so kindly don't attack me.

I don't want to attack you, but it really bothers me when you go "I love my country, even if it sucks. And you Americans, I don't know how you can love your country, it's a piece of $%&^."
That's what I'm referring to. I have strong feelings for my country, so it really, really bothers me to have my beliefs attacked, followed by you saying exactly the same thing as me.

Have strong feelings for your country/province/territory is fine, but that doesn't make 'the bad' things disappear, I know there are !@#$ty things in Canada due to problems with the government and all rest; and far as I know/can recall Funden, I have never once attacked your actual personal beliefs, even when you personally have said something I seriously disagree with...or if I did speak out about it, I tried to keep it clean, and didn't toss any names around.

When I said beliefs, I meant liking my country. My belief that I like my country?
I know that you generally don't do anything of the sort like you said, but I literally cannot tell you how enraging it is to have somebody throw around insults/bordering on propaganda against your country, most of the time without provocation, and then turn around and say how cool their country is.
That's all I'm going to say about it. I know that it was inappropriate of me to call you out, but I have a deep, burning hatred of hypocrisy.
