There are a lot of posts about issues with the
Wowhead Client and the
Completion Tracker. This is normal for beta software, but we need your help to solve these issues—so I've created this thread to help all of us keep track of what's going on!

How to Help Us Troubleshoot
If you are reporting an issue with the Client or the Completion Tracker, please provide us with the following information in your email:
- Which of the issues you are experiencing. For clarity, we'll be numbering the issues so you don't have to describe it. If your issue isn't listed here, please say New Issue and include a description of the problem.
- Links to the characters that are having the problem.
- If you're having an issue with specific quests, please also include the quests that are causing issues, or at least as many of them as you can find.
- Keep uploading! The first thing we do when you report a problem is we turn on logging for your account so we can more closely examine the data that's coming in—but if you don't keep uploading, we never see the more detailed logs!
List of Known Issues
- I'm uploading my data and everything appears to work fine, but my characters still only have the four default tabs!
Please be sure to indicate which characters are having the trouble. - The Client says "No Data to Upload", even though I've collected data properly!
If you're having this problem in Windows Vista or Windows 7, try right-clicking the Wowhead Client exe file and selecting "Run as Administrator" and let us know if that fixes the issue. - I've uploaded my quests and they appear on the site, but after a few hours they seem to disappear.
If you're having this issue, please try to indicate which quests are disappearing. - I've uploaded my data and it appears on the site, but some quests/mounts/pets etc. are missing.
If you're having this issue, please try to indicate what quests/mounts/pets are missing. - I uploaded data a while ago and it showed up, but more recent updates are not coming through!
The first Wowhead account who uses the Wowhead Client to update the completion data for a character is flagged as the "default" account for that character. Sometimes if you play on another user's computer (or if you share your account >:/ ), your character data can be submitted on another account. You can easily check this by looking at the Quests tab of your character to see "Data in this tab was last uploaded by ______". If that's any name other than yours, this is what happened. If you email us, we can correct that issue manually. - Someone else's completion data is showing on my character!
If this happens, please list the other character whose completion data is getting mixed in with yours—if you know it! - When I try to upload data, the uploading process stops part of the way through with an error message.
This appears to be a conflict between the Wowhead Client and some antivirus programs, most notably AVG and Kaspersky. If you're using AVG, you may be able to work around the issue by disabling the LinkScanner functionality. Regardless, we are working on recoding the Wowhead Client to prevent this conflict. - I'm using the Mac version of the Client, and when I upload it gets as far as "Found valid realm: logon.worldofwarcraft.com" and then stops.

Common Causes
There are a number of situations which can typically be prevented to insure your Wowhead data uploads are processed with no problem. You may be experiencing problems with your Completion Data if:
- If you or someone else on your computer has played on a private server.
Private servers are against Blizzard's Blizzard's Terms of Use and License Agreement; as an Official Fansite, we absolutely do not accept any private server data. If you are uploading from a computer that you or someone else has ever installed / used a private server on, there is a very high chance that your data is contaminated and we will completely ignore your upload. If you know this to be the case, please notify us via e-mail with your report so necessary steps can be taken. - Account or computer sharing with another Wowhead user.
Please note that account sharing is against Blizzard's rules as well, but if you share your account or just a computer with another Wowhead user there is a chance that any of their data uploads will include new data for one of your characters. In this case, often their account will become the default upload source for your character and any completion data for that character from your account will not be displayed. Simply let us know which characters are affected so we can properly reset association with your account. - Wowhead Client incorrectly configured.
Be sure that you have your Wowhead Client set to upload any character data you have collected with the /wl collect command in-game. In the Tools -> Options -> Preferences menu there is a checkbox labeled "Upload character data" that must be checked. Also insure you have the correct World of Warcraft directory set in the WoW Folders section.
