If you use TomTom etc., the coordinates for the submarine are /way 44.36, 36.10 in the Abyssal Depths.
It's just north-east of L'Ghorek's head.

Where :

Placed above the Scalding Chasm in the Abyssal Depths (44.36, 36.10) there is a submarine.

Note: There is no breadcrumb or quests for this event.

You will find two NPC's here, one of which offer rewards: Max Megablast and Bo Bobble.

What:

You swim around finding glowing sea creatures and bring them back to the light of the submarine for study.

You will earn Luminescent Research Notes every few ticks and a beam of light will protrude to the submarine.

How :

1. Head to the submarine and interact with one of the Damaged Diving Helmet.
2. Find a fish and interact with it to lure it back to the submarine (on follow)! They are a small crystal blue in colour and have a slight teal haze glow. They are not the purple fish in the chasm below. Go to the pillar at 54:36 or into the Underlight Canyon where there are jellyfish.
3. Head back to the submarine and stand in the light. Make sure your headlight is ON to earn the research notes.

Your fish will need to be replenished (catch another one) after around 50-100 research notes, or 10 minutes.

Note: You only need one fish at a time.

Be Aware Of...

The Whale Shark! Is on a loop and will always arrive from the ridge by L'Ghorek (The giant pearl creature).

The whaleshark arrives every 2-3 minutes. It will instakill/one-shot you.

You will need to turn OFF your headlamp when he arrives. As long as your lamp is OFF the whaleshark will not hurt you or your fish, so you can remain stationary.

Once the whaleshark leaves you can turn your headlamp back ON and resume the study.

seems pretty stupid to me. the buffs only work during the one day event. As least they should have offered a rare pet or two, or even, dare i say, a underwater mount? rofl

Buff takes off when you die... so in that 5 days duration you have to keep your toon alive, hilarious.

You still have it in LFR and Bg's but if you die that's it, 30 minutes wasted.

There are multiple types of different luminescent wildlife in the surrounding area (grouper, eel, etc). Search nearby and get multiples to follow you. You'll gain research notes much faster than just waiting on one.

Go directly east from the submarine to the pillar in the area named Seabrush. Here you can click a Luminescent Grouper (fish) to follow you. Now go down to underlight canyon and click a Luminescent Jelly (floating up higher) and a Luminescent Eel (swimming down lower). Turn OFF the helmet light to make the world dark to easier spot these critters. You can only have 1 of each. With all 3 following, go back to the sub and sit in the search light out front of the submarine. Sit stationary as your fish are scanned and the Luminescent Research Notes (the currency for this event) ticks into your bag. You must have your helmet light on. A Whale shark does laps right past the sub where you are sitting and will kill you if your helmet light is on. Turn it off (stops the scan) until he goes past. You don't have to move, he is only aggressive if your light is on. After 10 minutes your fish leave and you will have to go get more.

If you are doing this for the Traveler's Log you will only need 300 tokens. The items have a 2 hour refund window so you can purchase them and sell them back after getting credit for the Traveler's Log activity.

Some of the designers Blizzard must be scuba divers. The Vashj'ir zone really feels you are underwater.
And this Luminous mini-holiday is just like your 5 minute safety stop 15 feet below the surface!

If you are doing this for the Trading Post points, you can purchase the jelly jam and resell it to get the points completed in the traveler's log, then just sell it back for a refund. then do the same with the submersible propulsion device.
