You can now pick up the quest directly next to the great vault (source)

This is the quest that can be completed weekly to give each of your characters the Catalyst Charges which is necessary to convert gear items to a Vault of the Incarnates Tier piece of the same slot.

To be able to pick up this quest you first need to pickup the quest Reviving the Machine which can be picked up from Watcher Koranos in Valdrakken. This quest will direct you to the Revival Catalyst and it's steward, Antuka.

You can pick up this weekly quest with Antuka who stands by the Catalyst itself, and next to the great vault (update). The quest tasks you to complete Dragon Isles group content. The methods to progress on this quest includes but is possibly not limited to:

Killing a Vault of the Incarnates raid boss grants 25% quest credit
Completing a Dragon Isles Mythic Dungeon, including Mythic+, grants 25% quest credit
Killing the weekly world boss grants 20% quest credit (community feast weekly quest grants 25% quest credit
The new Storm's Fury event

Completing Rare Elite World Quests such as For Imbu! and Cobalt Catastrophe grants 20% quest credit each
PvP activities

Random Battlegrounds - Winning grants 25% quest credit, losing grants 12% quest credit
Solo Shuffle
Arena Matches - Winning Arena Skirmish grants 10% quest credit

This quest is special as the progress and completion of it is account-wide. Meaning you can complete it by doing parts of the progress on multiple of your characters, and also that all characters gains the charge. If you have completed the weekly quest twice and then level up a new character, that character will already have 2 Catalyst Charges.

The quest rewards 1 Catalyst Charges which means it can be used to convert a single item of gear to the tier counter-part. To see what items can be converted, see Catalyst Charges.

World boss gives 50%

Do this on 2 characters, and you're finished. That's it. Ignore all that other crap about 10% here or there, just do the world boss on 2 characters, and you're done

Edit- Annnnd they nerfed this already, because of course they did. It gives about 20 percent now. Gg

To be super clear regarding the events like dragonbane keep, community soup etc you have to open the actual bag item you get from completing the event. Within are quest items that grant you completion percentage. Simply completing the event or even looting/obtaining said bag doesn't do it; actually open the bag to receive the items inside.

Is there somewhere that gives details as to how the equipment is modified? Does it lose Ilvl / stats? if it is upgradable does it remain so? For example, if a piece is at 7/13, can you convert it and continue to upgrade it later? Are weapons included?

My alts seem to be getting the Renascence drops, but I don't see a quest or progress bar to see where I'm at. What am I missing?

Not only is this thing like a month late, you have to go look up guides just to find out what counts as credit towards it and half of that is potentially innacurate.

after i unlocked the catalyst and got my first charge, i didn't get the quest also. does the first charge from the quest turn in negate the quest?

This is crazy confusing.. So the only way we get the upgrade materials is from the weekly? or will they randomly drop in group content? Can we only get one per week across all character? Also, what specifically is group content.. why did they make it this way?

You can repeat the Hunt until you have it done, 10% for each sack reward, I did all 10 back to back as i had already finished the other weekly quests that give rep.

1/31/23 - It seems that it's showing the incorrect number of charges in the game. When running the script, it says I have two charges, but it's only showing one on the Revival Catalyst Console.

So, clear this up for me please...

This is a weekly quest, but for the whole account, yes? I only complete the quest once a week on one char.
So
1 charge per Week per account.
or
1 Charge per week per charakter?
I dont understand and the UI shows only 1 charge at my characters while i should have 2 at least... confused!

I got this all the way up to 95% doing most of my weekly tasks, logged off for a bit, and when I logged back in the quest was removed from my log and I had to pick it back up again, back to 0% with most of my weeklies done. Amazing :')

so i have done the quest line to unlock it but ive not received any other quest to fill up with% so i have no charges built up but ive not used any charges. anyone else having this type of issue?

Thanks everyone, but this isn't working, at least not consistantly. I completed Reviving the Machine quest and was able to upgrade one piece of equipment. Last week I picked up and completed the quests by the Great Vault and Antuka. I did EVERY non-pvp item on the list of things that were supposed to give me charges (including four mythics). Yet, I got no charges last week, have none now, and have no credit for this week's Catalyst Revival quest.

This is a very strange and different weekly quest for Blizzard, so kind of surprised it doesn't seem really bugged given their track record.

You actually pick up this quest on one toon (he's the only one who will see it in his quest log). But as you do other group quests on other toons it will actually contribute to it. And weirdly, any of the toons can go and complete the quest.

One way to do this is to just pick it up on one toon and then go and do the world boss on other toons. Group content completes it.

When you're on a toon that doesn't have the quest you'll "receive" indication it's progressing by getting currency like Passing Renascence, though you'll actually never receive anything (like I said, weird quest).

Edit: I guess I don't really understand how this works. I just started the quest on one toon, finished it on another and now I've gotten the quest again on another toon....

Adding my anecdotal experience with the bugged Catalyst quest:

I did the catalyst quest the first week it was out, received one charge which I used that week on a piece of gear.
The next week, I logged in on reset day and am SURE picked up the quest because I thought to myself "Nice of them to move the quest giver into the city so you don't have to fly the actual catalyst to get the quest." I did some progress that day and logged off. I wasn't looking for the bar the next time I logged in so I didn't notice the quest disappear. A few days before the reset that week I noticed and combed though my quest log, went back to the quest giver, checked here for WH comments, etc. But my quest was gone and I didn't have the catalyst charge. I filed a support ticket. I also confirmed I didn't accidentally spend the charge because my alts also only had one charge available, they should have had two.
It's now the 3rd week, I very carefully picked up the quest this week and completed it without issue, tiering a second piece of gear. The GM in the support ticket told me to file a bug report - they were nice but ultimately unhelpful. I decided to write my experience here since this is where I came looking for other people's experiences.

So basically events that issue you a purple box except for hunts give you these currencies.
I think I'll stick to the storm events myself inside the future zone.

If you catalyze a dungeon item at 411 or whatever, u can upgrade it afterwards if you didnt have enough valor beforehand.

I'm standing in front of the Revival Catalyst where my quest log and the ? on the map says I have finished a quest to turn in. But once I enter the building...nothing. So... now what?

Whoever is coming here to check wether other have the issue, that "the catalyst quest disappeared?" like me, here my experience and how I "solved" it. Maybe you also have the same I would say naive thinking.
So it's one day before reset, wanted to check if I have to complete the catalyst quest. Look into my Quest look, cool. Not there. But did I really finished it...? Let's check! So I fly to the catalyst. Open the interface. And see: 1 Charge? But If I finished, there should be 2 charges by now (-> Started back again last ID). Checked my Quest log again. Checked on other chars, maybe I spent it and forgot it..? But same display: 1 charge. So I wanted to open up a support ticket. Looked first into the catalyst issues, and glad I did. There I found THIS:

The Revival Catalyst interface only shows the cost of a single item conversion into a tier set item. It is not a tracker for the amount of charges your character has available. As long as a charge shows as available, you will be able to convert an eligible item into a tier set item. If you are out of charges, the interface will show there are no more available charges with a red number 1.

Are. You. Serious? How...nevermind. Alongside this command:

Why does a quest that requires max level to turn in (currently level 70) award XP? I did try with a level 69 to verify and said level too low.

I came to find information on how the quest works if you skip a week for some reason.
They don't stack up.

So if you're away one week, or don't get to hand in for some reason, you'll not get the option to do it twice in the next reset.
Unless there's a trick or requirement to it that I haven't found.
My lvl 70 toon with the highest count of charges are currently at 5.

Weird, got this quest today on my main and finished it then turned it in, gaining another charge on the catalyst. When I logged into my hunter the quest giver offered him the quest as well and now it's back at 0%. Going to see if I can get another charge and report back!

Edit: completed and turned in a second time this week 4/4/2023 :O

Fastest way to do it is probably joining PUGs and doing the world boss with 5 alts. Each kill gives 20%.

If your account doesnt have that many chars Id suggest doing 4 myth dungeon runs on whatever difficulty.

LFR Raiding or normal raiding works too, but ofc thats not near fast as doing the other activities. Some elite world quests do also work, but it may be a hassle to get it done.

I was able to accept and turn-in the quest 6 times this week. However it only works the following way:

I was only able to accept quests on characters which have not provided any progress to the quest this week
(I didn't try) but I guess the quest can only be accepted by characters which have not logged in either

So I made a ticket as my progress stood still on 90% yesterday, in spite of doing GROUP quests.

Here's what they said:
"After reading through your ticket here I did some digging and found The Revival Catalyst quest will only progress from Dragon Isles Dungeons or Mythic+ Dungeons. Timewalking will not provide progress to the quest."

Like, what the f? It's fine that dungeons count. In fact they should, but why not other elites and group quests? It doesn't specify in the god awful, pretentious &*!@ty description. It says GROUP content, blizz!

I tried to change my spec several times to see if the stats will change but it doesn't matter - all 3 specs are producing the exact same stat conversions, this is odd. Maybe it's because I only looted the gear as Beast Mastery, which seems to have a positive set bonus for this raid, of which, I have no intention of joining. so this is basically excellent news all around for once! although i think different specs should convert the items to different stat configurations to increase hunter diversity imo.
