You have to let Fhambar discover Levia Laurence otherwise the quest won't complete.

I ran ahead of Phambar into the cave and nothing happened. Had to walk back to Phambar at the starting point and let him find her. If you walk to far from Phambar he'll stop moving until you get close to him.

Fhambar doesn't aggro anything on his own so Druids can just Prowl past all the mobs until he gets to the end of the cave and you can turn in the quest.

ROGUES: You can stealth and Fhambar won't trigger any combats. (Just remember walking on the green lava kicks you out of stealth.)

Pass through the portal and find Fhambar (fel hunter) on the other side.
Order Fhambar to find Levia Laurence. Fel hunter will show you, where to find Levia.
BTW, if you cant see the felhunter and you play mage, it might be because you have no frost spec weap quest completed.

Being on the quest The Mage Hunter can cause phasing issues for this one. Make sure to complete The Mage Hunter first if you have it in your log, then try again.

If you have unlocked flying by this point, you can actually skip ALL the mobs on the way to the cave.
Since the felhound doesn't agro anything on its own and only attacks things that you directly attack, you can safely fly just above it as it makes its way to the cave. You might take a few weak shots from some imps, but they don't do nearly enough to care about.

If you drop this quest and get REALLY fouled up - go back to Dalaran - go into the Chamber and talk to Ritssyn again.

I lost Fhambar and found it again at coords 31.0, 51.8, while working on Following the Scent.

As a 110 Rogue (only one of my several alts), this quest is more of a PITA since 8.1 than it's worth. Fhambar (the warlock "puppy" you need to follow) can only be engaged on the ground, not from your flying mount. Before 8.1, you could follow the "puppy" around on your flying mount just fine and get the end-result pretty quickly. Not so anymore. You must engage him on the ground, not far from him as he will stop and wait for your presence, aggro-ing everything on your way to Levia. My Rogue alt was ilvl 207 when I did this today. If your alt is lower, I would suggest potions and stat food and your Crimson Vial.

This quest is so stupid. If you enter the cave where Levia is located before Fhambar and run towards her, Fhambar will despawn and you have to go back TO THE ORIGINAL PORT IN LOCATION to restart the scent following portion of the quest. Utter waste of time and bad scripting. Ugh.

As of 9.1.5 mobs are scaled to 60, and Agatha has 61.7k health

As of today, the imp mobs inside the cave have been scaled back to 45 and can be stealthed by but Agatha, the mob you need to kill after getting to Levia, is still an unbeatable boss with 90k hp.

Description

You will have to continue through the portal without me, <class>. I have assisted you in locating your mage's whereabouts, so I consider my debt to Modera paid. However, I will lend you one of my felhounds to help track this mage down. If she is as powerful as Modera says, then it would be in everyone's best interest that Agatha not be allowed to keep her. Best of luck, <class>, and try to bring Fhambar back in one piece.
