Some fresh news from patch 5.3 on the PTR :

"Brutal Pet Brawler (New) Win 250 PvP pet battles through Find Battle with a full team of level 25 pets. Reward: Stunted Direhorn. 10 points. Account Wide."

This lovely little dinosaur will soon be ours !

When i cast beast lore on them they show as tameable, but when i try to tame them it says "invalid target" :(

These are sadly untameable due to being friendly towards both factions.

Note: In order to tame Direhorns, you must use the Ancient Tome of Dinomancy, to learn Ancient Zandalari Knowledge

UPDATE 7.0.3 and how this was HOTFIXED
There is the short summary for those who are curious about this pet and how a few players obtained it. If you are really interested there is the longer full version below. NOTE :hysteria can no longer be kept when you leave stormwind or orgrimmar as of the latest hotfix.

Short summary....As of patch 7.0.3 you were able to tame this direhorn through the use of the demon invasion doomsayer buff called "hysteria". Hysteria allowed you to target friendly npc's for 10 seconds after receiving the buff.

Long version: First, you needed a full group of people including the hunter who wants the pet and a warlock.(5 total). The hunter and the person of choice would then stay in stormwind or orgrimmar and wait for the dreadlord buff from the doomsayers ( this effect is passed at random). The "dreadlord" would then run to a place where the guards were not and the hunter would go to them. The other three would go to the isle of thunder or isle of giants.(this guide is for the isle of giants because that is the one i have done). Once at the isle of giants the three people will make it to the direhorn that is under the table at a troll camp. The warlock would then put a summoning stone in front of the direhorn. The hunter would also need the macro "/tar Stunted Direhorn /cast tame beast". The hunter would then get a summon and when ready the "dreadlord" would then put the buff hysteria onto the hunter and the hunter would immediately take the summon. The hunter would then run in melee range of the direhorn and spam the macro.( If not in melee range the direhorn would evade the tame). The direhorn would then become friendly again if the buff wore off before the tame was completed and you would need to go back to the "dreadlord" and restart the summoning/macro spamming process. Remember this has been patched! This is just information!

Thanks to the hunters of petopia and a bunch of players who volunteered to help the hunters this was doable for the day it was available.

The hunter pets that come from Bufo, Marsh Gulpers and Stunted Direhorns all suffer from the same bug since BfA beta. This comes from the spells Hex and Polymorph: Direhorn. The game's coding incorrectly sizes hunter pets that have the same model as the those used in these spells, and they are forever sized as tiny versions of themselves, because it thinks the hunter pets are Hexed/Polymorphed. It's quite annoying to have one of these attacking you in PvP as they're even smaller than battle pets and very hard to see.
