Comes out with a shield that lowers all damage taken by 99% with a set number of charges. Each hit takes it down one and when it reaches zero he explodes, knocking everyone back for a little damage and spawning adds. Kill the adds before they get to him then kite him around while mopping up any that remain. Do this a three or four times and receive loot.

Just a warning to tanks though, your threat will be pathetic but so will everybody else's - except the healer. Be mindful of this as we had our healer killed which naturally lead to a wipe.

This fight can be a little disorientating at first. When Ichoron first comes out you will notice he has a water shield with about 35 charges on it. Attacking Ichoron will not damages his life but will damage his shield. Once the shield goes down he will fall to the floor and become untargetable and small water elementals will spawn around the room. They are elite mobs but only have about 4k health and go down very quickly. He will reactivate if an elemental reaches him or all elementals spawned are killed, the remaining elementals will continue to walk towards him. each one that reaches him will restore a small amount of hp. when an elemental is killed it erupts, dealing ~1k frost dmg to anyone nearby and knocking them back. At 25% he enrages and stops summoning adds, but hits very hard. At this point it is a dps race.

note: using the crystal activators around the room when Ichorons bubble pops kills all elementals and if timed right stops any from reaching him.

We pulled him up the stairs to the back of where you come in. When he collapses all his adds have to come up those stairs to get to the boss so it's very easy to aoe them down. You wont have to tank him around the room that way either.

This boss is incredibly easy on heroic. All you need to do is pop the defenses each time she splits, and it will one shot all of the adds. This greatly decreases the explosion dmg they do when they die, along with ensuring no globules make it back to her. It also guarantees the achievement if you do this all 3 times she splits.

My encounter with this guy on normal mode was very strange/glitched

After the second split, instead of just having the little porstions start speeding towards his body, a second Ichoron was produced as well. At first I thought our dps was just amazing, as this copy had only 6k health. So we killed it, and when it died, our chat log showed all of us automatically passing on the Spaulders.

Then the original Ichoron returned at his former health, so we killed this as well. It also dropped the Spaulders, Which we were allowed to roll for. so we rolled for that, and upon checking the corpse of the copy, sure enough, there was a second lootable pair of the Spaulders. So we lucked out and got 2 dream shards from one boss. Just wanting to know if anyone else has had an experience like this?

Something that we tried last night which worked VERY well on heroic is to tank him with you back to the wall on the left hand side back in the corner on ground level. Its the corner that is between the platform you enter on, and the platform which Erekem comes out from. If you keep your back to the wall this will keep you on top of the boss at all times, and also will help A LOT with keeping the little elementals from getting back to him. We one shotted this guy using this strat! Very effective!

For all the tanks out there sick of wiping on this dude: I've taken the responsibility of hitting the crystals. So pick him up right when he comes out of the water and tank him by the first switch. I usually wait until until the 2nd split and then hit the switch.

Once he comes back, pull him over to the steps on the left (below skettis boss). Tank him there with your back to the wall. Once he splits, hit the 2nd switch. Works like a charm.

This comment is directed at warrior tanks, and any others who get this guy. This is an in depth description of my role as the tank.

This fight is extremely easy.

This method I use on Heroic Difficulty but cna be used for normal as well..

When he spawns he will come up his little ramp out of the water. Gain aggro and position yourself so your back is facing the crystal defense switch near Lavanthor. When he explodes you will be knocked all the way across the room landing at or very close to the defense switch, start clicking and opening it. By the time the adds even spawn you should be at least 3/4 or finished activating the switch. This should kill them all before they get a chance to start moving! At that point, start running to pickup the boss. His aggro does not wipe so he should come to you. Positioning is not important for the boss as it is for the tank. You must have your back facing a crystal switch so the knockback will make you land right at it.

Side notes-
Make sure your group knows that you (the tank) are hitting the switches.

Be sure to tell everyone that the little water elementals explode upon death and cause little dmg but if you are in the middle of a bunch, you might take significant dmg or be killed.

Tanks keep spell reflect up during elemental phase to avoid water volley (doesn't do much dmg anyway but the little extra damage helps)

Remember that after 3 phases of exploding, the boss WILL enrage which boosts his damage and attack speed greatly. Tanks pop shield wall/shield block/trinkets etc. (Especially on heroic).

Please if anyone can confirm this- I heard that if you do not let any of his adds get to him after he explodes at any time for the whole fight you gain an achievement. Please confirm.

EDIT - Achievment is true. (i just looked a few comments up :P )

UPDATE!: Since the patch, there is no cast time for opening or activationg items (chests, switches, whatever) so dont be too quick to flip that switch before the little adds even appear. Make sure you see them before hitting that switch since it is instant now.

Warlocks shouldn't use Chaos Bolt while he has his shield up, especially towards the beginning of the fight. The tank's damage (and threat from damage) will be reduced by 99%, but the chaos damage isn't reduced at all (full threat). The result being, you gain way too much threat over the tank and probably pull aggro, and die.

As this fight starts, she has high armor, high attacks, and is fricken huge. As the fight continues, she says "I will not be Contained! Aghyah!" and dissapears. this is where adds with 2000 hp come out towards where she returns. You will notice that she is smaller, weaker, and has less armor. But the same hp. This will keep repeating until you beat her.

If you're going for the achievement, I don't reccomend trying Defenseless with it. The crystals will be your best friend if you're having trouble with this fight, too.

So if everyone in your group has Defenseless or you just don't care about it, using the crystals helps a ton with the healing globules.

wen i did ichoron on my DK (this was almost a few weeks after wotlk had been released) we thought that this guy was impossible, we just kept wiping on this guy, the ads were to much, we just gave up in the end...

if you don't know tacs this guy can be pretty tough

As an arcane mage, I alternated between AB and Ice Lance - no need to throw big nukes, since the faster attacks will knock down the shield's charges. I didn't think to see how Arcane Missiles would fare, but I wouldn't use it unless Missile Barrage proc'ed in any case.

I was bored and have never been in this dungeon so I decided to see how far I would make it solo (at lvl 78). This was the first and only boss I got to. I didn't come close to dying but I got tired of trying to run around killing the water blobs. It was a total stalemate. The doors got breached, anyway, so I just left. I had pressed one of the red levers early on but that didn't seem to do anything (I couldn't figure out why I was hardly doing any damage to her so I was trying everything, lol). No JPs for me :-(

Anyway, she didn't spawn, she was behind a metal sewer grate the whole time and it eventually lifted up and let her out after I killed a few portal guardians.

As of today (8/31/18), despite the new Dungeon and Leveling scaling changes, her adds DO NOT level scale. They were level 76 when Ichoron was level 69.

If you get this boss before this is fixed, and they are red to you, your best bet is to clump on one at a time and pray.

So here´s the story:

I was waiting for this guy to spawn for many months, until one day I accidentally let the prison door fall to 450/1000 durability and this guys spawned for me. I was not able to do the achievement tho, so I was trying for many days again with no luck of spawning. Yesterday I tried to let the door reach 450/1000 durability again and he spawned,I did the achievement. Today I tried again "for science" and he spawned again with 450/1000 durability. It could be extreme luck, but who knows...

Dehydration achievement how to!

For those frustrated by running the instance 30+ times in a row without the spawn for the Dehydration achievement - N1kkatzu found the answer but the comment was buried below.

Repeated here - Let the door go down to 450, kill pats & portal guys and it will be the first boss to spawn
You do NOT need to wait her/him/it to split, just nuke and you're good to go

The 45% thing no longer works, apparently. I've done this dungeon 20+ times and not one Ichoron spawn. With or without the 45%, resetting, leaving, whatever. I cannot get him to spawn.

I let the dragon dudes that spawned first beat on the door until it was 44% durability, killed them, and then he spawned as the first boss. Then I just killed him asap, no need to wait for slow dps.
