Neither World Quest nor main questlineare not dropping the pet... a bit of a mystery (or bug) for now!

The pet is listed as having to do the Gutterwork storyline which starts with A Fin of Every Kind.

Run this code in game to check if you've completed the full Gutterwork questline:
/run print(C_QuestLog.IsQuestFlaggedCompleted(79715))

~~Then we've yet to see how to get the pet, but it likely has to do with a similarly named world quest that can spawn.~~

So, I raised this as an issue as to the pet not being rewarded and this is the response I got from Blizzard:

we can understand you are having some concerns regarding Slim was not rewarded from the quest Gutter Work. However, this is working as intended.
In this case, we would encourage you to keep an eye out on the development of this quest chain in the future patches.

Battle Pet Slim was not available for the first months of The War Within and Blizzard approached the issue with a rather simple source change in Patch 11.0.7 (which is not what I would expect when I read the "encourage you to keep an eye out on the development of this quest chain in the future patches" GM response)

While the pet was previously listed for the Gutter Work WQ, in 11.0.7, its source was changed to the last quest Grand, Gutsy Solutions of the Gutter Work storyline, and that worked on the PTR... to an extent.

Around 2024, December 21st Blizzard finished working on something to make the pet reward available retroactively (probably by adding it to a hidden Grand, Gutsy Solutions achievement that should now be triggered when a character previously finished the last storyline quest).

For people who didn't finish the "Gutter Work" storyline before: We have an issue with it in 11.0.7 because the Familiar-Looking Appendage quest starter item is bugged. Initially, we thought this would block the continuation of the storyline due to the lack of the That's Pretty Gross quest. But we seem to have some fallback mechanism so here's what you can do right now:

Grab the first quest A Fin of Every Kind from Al'kubian at/way #2255 60.00 66.17 Al'kubian
Fill your Innards Sack, check your bags for an Familiar-Looking Appendage, destroy the item, and then turn in the quest.
Now find the fallback object Familiar-Looking Appendage with the That's Pretty Gross quest. Non-Level 80's will probably see them directly because the quest starter doesn't seem to drop for them, but when you don't see it in one of the locations, relog (or travel to another subzone in Azj-Kahet e.g. by flying up into the City of Threads) and then return to/way #2255 55.59 71.09 Familiar-Looking Appendage

Complete all other quests of this short storyline and enjoy your Slim reward!

I can confirm that Slim is awarded for completing Grand, Gutsy Solutions as of today.

Slim is no longer cageable, and now can only have one instead of three.

Unannounced change sometime on December 20.

I have two of these somehow. Received it from the quest but wasn't able to use it due to being told I already have one. Low and behold I did already have one. I don't remember getting it, but just wanted to put it out there in case anyone else is having this issue.
