He has a good chance of dropping the warrior/pally epic book, and being so close to the beginning of the instance he is easily campable. Make sure you kill all of the patrolling trees in the first area however, because they tend to come attack when your fight on Warpwood begins.

Solo'd as a Level 65 Holy Pally for the Pally quest. Make sure that you kill all the trees walking around in the first room before attempted to kill him because they will aggro the moment you attack the boss. Just make sure that all of your moves are ready to use and you should be able to do it. Some potions help too.

If your are a 70 hunter and got enchanting this guy is rly nice 2 farm, u can run 2 him without killing 1 mob your pet can tank him if u heal him, when the adds comes u just feign death and thay run back. the loot is gd 2 DE :)

Soloed as level 70 shadowpriest, just keep VE up and you can outheal him for a while, I was at 4k hp when he died.

For other people trying to kite this boss using the stair glitch, be aware that he occasionally teleports you to him and roots you in place. He did it to me when I first agro'd him, and again when he was about to die.
I could Escape Artist out, but if you're not a cute lil' gnome, I suggest bringing a PvP trinket.

Soloed as 62 pally with only BoE greens, except for my Diamond-Core Sledgemace(unenchanted). I got smeared once because I didn't take out all the trees upstairs first.

If you need to do this and you can't find a group of your own, look for an existing group in the zone. You can just waltz in when they're done and turn in your quest. A lot of 70 pallies for instance, solo this quest for rep and mount.

For those of you doing your epic paladin quest, please remember to kill ALL of the Ironbark Protectors or else they will come to the boss when you engage him. Other than that, he's easy. The only relatively difficult thing about it is the fact that he roots.

Solo'd as a reasonably well-geared (about 50% blue quest reward items) 62 Ret Pally (0/47/6); though it was long and laborious and I don't recommend it. Just bring friends. Preferably a 70 or two.

First I didn't have the Crescent Key; I looked at soloing that, but it was way too much of a pain, so I just died and walked through the DM West doors as a ghost. Second, once I got in there, I realized that in my spectacular incompetence I had neglected to bring more than 3 bottles of water; this meant that I got to wait through looooong mana regens between each fight--I think my Spirit must be, what, 88 or something? so my MP5 must be 50 something. Just great.

So I avoided all the mobs and walked in to good old Tendris' courtyard, engaged, and promptly got murdered by about 10 Ironbark Protectors. Just great.

Went back in, meticulously solo'd each Protector one at a time. Best way I found was to grab one (I managed to never aggro more than one at once), pull them into the little alcove next to the instance portal, back up against the wall, and turtle up and have a nice long war of attrition. Judged and Sealed Wisdom (don't let Seal of Wisdom drop) to keep the Mana up, constantly maintained Holy Shield, no Consecrate, no Avenger's Shield. I also had Petrified Lichen Guard which did about 10+% of my DPS, so that may or may not affect your experience. These guys are 57-59 elites, and on the 59's I found I needed to drink a mana pot before it was over--bring a few. Towards the last third of each fight I needed to start healing myself; I recommend not waiting too long because these guys have a knockback that interrupts your heal; it will catch you mid-heal about 50% of the time, so start trying to heal around 2200-2500 and you will be okay.

After all these guys were cleared, probably about 45 minutes (remember I retardedly brought no water) I ran in to engage the big guy. Go in with all your cooldowns (including LoH) available.

What's great is that even though he has a lot more health and DPS than the other Protectors I just solo'd, he actually doesn't do as many irritating things, most notably the knockback interrupt. So he was basically a repeat of the Protector fights only with less stress over getting heals out.

I ended up mana potting twice on him, blowing my Divine Shield, and at the very end when he had about 5K health left popping my Lay On Hands. At that point it was over; the 550 mana from LoH plus what I got from Wisdom was enough to keep Holy Shield up and to pop one more heal; he went down with me still having about 2000 health and 500 mana left at the end.

He dropped Petrified Bark Shield; but of course what I was there for was the Equine Spirit, and thankfully he ran out with no fuss and blessed my barding and I was on my way.

I soloed this fella with my 60 ret today, for the mount quest. I had a few Hellfire Peninsula quest rewards but otherwise unimpressive gear. Nothing from any instance in the game. Just greens and a blue or two that you'll find at the auction house, plus the Ice Barbed Spear from AV. No tier gear or PvP gear, in other words.

I had about 3k mana and about 4400 health. I used Blessing of Might, Seal of Light, and Devotion aura. Tendris was hitting me for 550-650 a smack. Basically, what I did was spam Flash heals whenever my burst damage was cooling down. He hits fairly quickly and has a "Trample" attack that interrupts spellcasting. So yeah. Crusader Strike, Judgement of Light, and Holy Storm whenever they were up. I think I also used Divine Shield and Lay on Hands, although I don't think LoH was ncessary. I used one mana pot, which I don't think was required either. And no health pots. It took a few minutes, but I got him down. You don't have to be healing yourself constantly, but I also wouldn't recommend getting below 50% health (at level 60) because the rest of it can disappear quickly.

There are some Protector mobs you have to clear out. They will periodically knock you back quite a ways. Just use the same tactic on them that I used on the boss. However, you also need to put yourself up against a wall to keep from getting kicked into some other mobs. Instead of using Divine Shield or LoH, you can stun them when you get a little low on health and need some uninterrupted heals. Tendris is immune to stun, and Vindication, for that matter.

What makes this fight possible to solo at 60 for a ret paladin now is a combination of things: One, massively increased damage output. Two, massively increased base heal power. I was Flashing for about 850 a pop, which is pretty good when you have only 4400 health to begin with. Also, the Art of War talent gives you instant Flashes when you crit on several attacks; the Judgment of the Wis talent returns a big chunk of mana; Sheath of Light makes your heals pretty effective; and spell crit and melee crit have been combined into one stat. I had about 20% crit on my character sheet, and that goes up during combat thanks to a few ret talents.

Lastly, don't bother hunting down the key. Just take off all your gear, aggro a mob by the door to Tendris' instance, die, and res inside the door.

61 prot. He owned me first time, crit hit me before I used Lay on Hands. Second one was without history, I just had to survive him with constant Consecration and Hammering. Bring a Mana Pot, can save you.

About the "trees" case - I killed all Ironbark Guardians, so I can't tell if they aggro (try to go one at a time), but Petrified Treant and Petrified Guardian do not aggro in boss encounter. And fighting Guardians as prot is a nightmare due to constant, no mana Regrowths, so avoid small treants

I also didn't have key - clothes off and aggro an ogre, res behind the door.

He usually drops two greenies, the shield or the staff, that disenchant into 2 Grater Eternal Essence. On my realm they actually sell around 17-20 gold each, since no one is disenchanting lvl 51-60 gear after TBC. As a survival hunter i spend 15 mins every evening to solo this boss: doesn't take more than 15 minutes, even on a lvl 70 toon in Northrend green gear, and you'll find yourself with an easy 40 gold in your pockets.

I was wanting an 80 to run me through but I decided to take a try by myself.
60 Ret Paladin with the BoA Plate Shoulders and Axe.

I picked off the protector's one by one just burning them as fast as possible, (Bring water + food because it will help alot :P)

Anyway Tendris: I started the fight by popping judgement of light with Seal of command up, then bursting him with abilities, when your about 15% bubble, heal up to full, then burn him with the bubble up, the next time you get down fairly low (10 - 15%) used a LoH, by this time he was about 25%, when he got me to 25%, I had FoL Sheath procs and kept me above 50%, potted and just killed him.

Fairly fun fight, but wouldn't recommend it to under-skilled players. :p

Soloed as 64 holy pally, with a little help from Divinity and Benediction. Cleared all the big mobs first, one at a time. Alternate healing and Holy Shock, Judgement of Wisdom, and Exorcism. You can use Consecrate, but it mostly just hurts mana efficiency. Used Hammer of Wrath when available.

Went in to this fight with Devotion Aura up, in Outland greens and blues, with the belt from AB, wristguards from WSG 48, and green dragonscale guantlets. Used LoH once, just kept my rotation up otherwise.
