I'm a little surprised yall would bring this up out of nowhere without doing research. I'm 90% sure in "the wow diary" I'm p sure it's mentioned they we looking at creating a couple different alternatives to the dark portal. There's 3 or 4 spread around, and at one point I think they were considering using them as the portals for instances.
Always something to get upsetti about.
GIven that the "original" dark portal already appeared in the black morast in WC1 and later on again in WC2, where it was destroyed physically, without closing the rift initially (you know, the entire content of WC2 expansion?), plus the simple wow diaries that suggest that they considered it as alternative entry points for dungeons or even using them as portals, without any necessary connection to the "dark portal" that connects Azeroth and Draenor/Outland in of itself....yeah, I don't like complaining about nonsense, but there have been warcraft games before WoW, by the way, so... yeah, research.
How to tell us you havent played the warcraft RTS without saying you havent played the warcraft RTS
Uhhh... no. There's something called Warcraft 1 & Warcraft 2. Jeez ppl
Dumb, pointless article with absolutely zero research. Just shat out onto a plate for the pigs to consume. For anyone who is actually curious, the answer is simply that, before World of Warcraft, there was no actual established location where the Dark Portal could be found. They tried placing it in a variety of locations before they decided to finally just sit down and decide where would make sense based on the storyline and locations.
Ive seen this floated around quite a few times in my nearing 17 years of playing wowThe answer is already known- the dark portal model was used as a placeholder for instance portalsIt especially helped understanding sight lines- scholomance is the best example of this. By putting a truly massive structure in the spot it let them see from all over western plaguelands you could see caer darrow, the spot the story was largely building up to. The final building was short and squat but it definately made a difference in how theyd lay out things like hills or trees or buildings depending on how much or how little they wanted to obscure itThe old story of "they didnt know where to put the dark portal" is either wholesale apocraphyl or the person who told the story wholesale misinterpreted chris metzens confusion over being asked where itll be and him answering "uh....blasted lands?" As being a sudden shock of not knowing and throwing out an answer, when in reality it was shock over having to answer something that was literally never in question. The dark portals location has been locked in in its current place since warcraft 1. Out of all the things to get moved around from its original spot, the dark portal has literally never changed its location, nor was it ever planned to.
who cares. please blizzard, release new classic + with QOL, hard dungeons and raids, nice balance, and old world precata but with outlend and north and max lv 80 but without rdf, and shamans dwarfs and undead paladins pretbc
