Afflicted is dog trash. Too many dungeons where there is a debuff that has to be dispelled and cant count on dps players to do it (prot paladins are usually pretty good for this at least and/or can heal them).Afflicted should be +20% haste to the group if dispelled, not - haste if missed. Spawn locations inside bosses hitbox and almost being impossible to target are really annoying. As a monk healer, incorporeal wasnt that bad but im guessing without a instant cc its a lot more of a pain to deal with.
Afflicted is annoying to deal with. The dps in my group are DK, Warrior and Warlock, they can’t do anything to help. Brackenhide is banned this week with all the dispels plus not being able to stop knolls from running off and pulling the rest of the dungeon
Incorporeal is good, everyone in the game can easily handle it... Then there's afflicted.... just make a single one spawn or let magic dispels work too. It's far too difficult to clear without building your party around it. Oh and nerf it to 50% -haste without stacking....
Afflicted and incorporeal weeks = break time for my healers. Simple as that.
Theyre not as bad as Spiteful.
I like Incorporeal and Entangling, for sure certain team comps can struggle with the new affixes but that’s the same as saying that certain classes never get picked because they are the bottom dps in the meta ranking. Plus you only really need 1-2 classes to deal with them and the rest can ignore them or procure some kind of interupt in rare cases where things are falling down. If anything, it would be nice if the spawn rate was increased a little bit but only 1 can spawn at a time. I think it would bring better balance for incorporeal.Afflicted however, as much as I like the concept, needs adjustment. They spawn way too often and sometimes in very weird spots and out of range of everyone. I’ve had a situation in vortex pinnacle where on the dragon boss, the afflicted spawned downstairs completely out of sight. That should never ever happen and should always be close to the party. Also the fact that there are allied targets makes people not notice them in general. I’ve been really good in my mage about it since I use the built in UI friendly nameplates all the time, but I have received complaints from about 95% of my guild that they just don’t see them. So in my opinion it should spawn less often, limited range within the party, make them more visible and probably like incorporeal 1 at a time or if you put 2, make the cast longer to compensate for the cleanse cooldownsOutside from these points, I like the new affixes a lot, now time to get rid of Spiteful…
I've noticed most of the positive comments are all coming from classes that have ways to contribute and most of the negative comments are from people who can't contribute.I've been declined to low keys this week just because I play hunter and can't deal with the affix. Just because it doesn't affect your play doesn't mean it doesn't affect others. DPS having to press a non-dps button isn't the problem. It's that all I can do as my class to help the group is just watch and hope someone else does it. That's why Afflicted sucks. Forget high key coordinated groups for a moment and think about the rest of the playerbase.
There's one issue they didn't touch on regarding this week's half baked affix. The absolutely insane spawning locations of afflicted. it's the only reason we've missed a couple of them in my coordinated group.Up the walls of NL, in the huts and on random bridges in FH, in the water of the first boss of NL, behind pilars in Tyr & VP, in the water of the bridge to the last boss in HoI, behind the wooden walls in tyr, inside of the boss in HoI... those are just a few I've seen that come to mind.I use the WA so I know if one is still casting, but having to swing my camera around madly searching for the terrible default UI nameplate every 30 seconds isn't fun. This week's affix is an unfortunate combination of poor design and execution.
I’ve been pleasantly surprised with dps helping dispell the other one, well mostly.
As a healer, in the lower keys (15-18), I’ve found they invite only 1-2 people who are able to deal with the affix. They pay zero attention to group composition (typically skipping lust) and thus I need to carry (Holy Paladin, so I could repent/turn evil last week and can either 2x dispel if I am fast or heal the 2nd one if I am slow). In upper keys they’ll stack for the affix, making my job vastly easier. It isn’t fun being the only person dealing with the affix and you do not get any appreciation for it neither. It is extra stress and the lower key groups typically take more damage because they fail to interrupt or avoid avoidable damage, making it very punishing on the healer if a mistake is made at the lower key level. It also really sucks when some dots, like the Vortex Pinnacle dots from the early adds, hurt a ton and require a dispel, but you’re the only person with the dispel to deal with the affix - so you need a weak aura to watch the affix timers to know if it is okay to dispel it or hold your dispel for the affix. The worst part however is finding the afflicted. I’ve seen them spawn 1/2 into walls and they aren’t visually easy to see - especially at lower graphics settings. It being 1-2 spawning makes it worse when only 1 spawns because you panic that there are maybe 2 but you cannot find the 2nd.
I hate afflicted, Its on rly short CD (have to be on the same CD as Incorporeal), having this $%^&ty affix every 30 sec is just bad and not fun at all. + I'm playing M+ with friends and they play rogue, DH, hunter... Its just stupid for our group, we just have to skip 1 week in M+ if we dont take paladin tank.
Ditto
As a resto shaman, Incorp wasn't bad (I run hex, even though it's not recommended). I generally run with a tank friend, and occasionally a dps friend. We often could pick up someone that could handle the other (hunter, usually). This past week, afflicted was.. well it was ok. It took me a couple dungeons to realize poison totem will handle both ghosts at once. Nice to know! Better than what I was doing, trying to cleanse then heal. Because I was getting literally zero help from anyone in groups, even those that could maybe have a thing in their toolkit. It was a little frustrating, but overall, mostly tolerable (better than explosive). I must shout out the one awesome ret pally that was ON THE BALL helpful in the last dungeon we did though. They were catching the singles while I took out the doubles. Helped a lot in between totem cooldowns. And took into account that I was dispelling other things (debuff applied to tank). Just, really nice thing to have happen after so many runs where no one else did anything.
Honestly kinda surprised at their end conclusions to Incorporeal vs Afflicted.. cos the complaint that "all the pressure is shoveled onto one or two players" holds equally true of Afflicted, while the pool of classes that can deal with that pressure is roughly halved.I think Afflicted got a much more positive response than it really deserves, while Incorporeal is much closer to being excellent. Also should be some more discussion of fights like (e.g.) Naraxas, where your dispels are semi-required for the fight (and that's on fortified). Plus the obnoxious nature of the blizzard-nameplates-only UI was largely glossed over.Did like their suggestion of making Incorporeal a personal effect though. Also liked the ideas of Raging not removing CC already in place and/or requiring double CC - really it's another one where the problem is too few people can handle it, it's just the punishment is normally low.
I would like afflicted to be as visually distinct as incorporeal.
