I dont think prices will go down, sure ore can be mined 3 to 4 time faster than they used to with this patch, but respawn times for the nodes arent gonna change. and its not like ores are being mined all of the time by everyone who plays. this is a welcome change by me.
Fantastic!Thank god I'm hardly trying to mine on my DK right now.(He's my first miner.)
This will help for the rare times when I have to compete for nodes when I'm lagging.Nothing more frustrating than just finishing mining one ore out of a node then having someone come up and take the node cause i am not as fast in between swings.
Ok I read all 3 pages and someone said they read somewhere the percentages chance to get a gem and think i can remember what they wereIts Either % chance from Prospecting ore or % Chance from mining a node to find a gem but it is around16% - 20% for a green gem2% - 4% for a blue gemOr so it was in BC on Fel Iron Ore and Adamantite Ore.Some Mineral types have slightly higher chances to drop ore. Some Minernal types cannot be prospected (usually green/quest ore) and It is possible to get both a blue and a green from a Minernal and (happened to me last week for the first time ever) 2 blue gems and a green from prospecting 5 oreI seem to remember getting 2 skill ups from 1 node without using any combination such as +1 mining point then +1 skinning then +1 Mining (on the same node)I remember quite clearly at the start of Burning Crusade taking Mining in my Blood Elf mage and running up and down the Dead Scar mining the copper ore and several times i mined a single node and got more than 1 skill up.(A lot of this information is based on Burning Crusade because i only just recently started leveling my mage (( the only character with mining)) in Northrend so i dont have a lot of northrend mining experieince besides cobalt to go on)I think thats all :D
On sharing nodes, the only time this has been an issue is if you are in a group with multiple miners. My friends were both miners when BC was released and we tried leveling as a group. Since they could share nodes, they were both able to get skill-ups off each node.As for possibly unbalancing mining, lets assume that skinning, herbing, and a single hit on a vein currently takes 10 seconds. Why not make it take 30 seconds to mine a regular vein and 50 seconds for a rich vein. You still get the benefit from only tapping it once so it can't be stolen, only the person who gets there first can succeed (if they are able to complete the channel), but on PvP servers, opposing faction still has about the same amount of time to interupt you and possibly steal the vein.
I'm a Miner, and this update looks awful. Not only will there be proffesions unbalanced, this will turn into Mining nerfing. Blizz'll lower the amount of ores, stones, and gems you can get, and won't up the amount of nodes. Ty Blizz: Ruin my Hunter, I make a DK. Ruin my DK and his proffs?
This is a welcome change. It's not gonna imbalance professions. Ore may drop in price a little but I believe at least cobalt is going to be needed in BS also. Same amount of ore per node, same amount of nodes, and same respawn on them. Just means I don't have to stand there and get nuked by some passer-by who then goes and steals the rest of my rich saronite node or titanium.
For the few of you who may not realize this, and now its only relevant until this patch comes out...If you leave the loot window open, nobody else can tap the node. If you reach a node at the same time as someone else, just hit it without looting until the other person flies off and you are good to go.Of course, if you are on a pvp server, good luck.
Yes, it's good, but now I can't Node-Ninja from those damn Alliance in Sholazar Basin...Yea, I ninja nodes (Only from Alli's though =D), proud of it to.It's like PvP, but better 'cause it makes them angrier.Gotta find SOMEthing to do to them on this damn PvE server...
